Outside Jianghai City, there lay an immense Meteorite Crater on the plains.
This was the origin of the apocalypse, the birthplace of the Zombie Virus, where a meteor that fell from space had created a vast crater spanning several kilometers.
On ordinary days, this place was seldom visited, but today it was bustling with activity.
Countless Mutated Zombies filled the Meteorite Crater, densely packed with powerful monsters, some even at the Third-Stage and Fourth Tier levels. These Zombies wandered silently within the crater, like a horde of walking corpses.
Of course, they were indeed corpses.
At the center of the Meteorite Crater stood a tall and massive stone platform, seemingly having been there since the beginning. Above the platform, a solid Snow White beam of light descended from the sky, within which was a gigantic cross binding a pale and weary young girl.
Her dress was intact; although she had not suffered any physical abuse, her expression was one of exhaustion, clearly indicating that her experience within the beam was far from pleasant.
"Well... now you finally realize how foolish your attempt at suicide was, don't you?"
Sitting casually at the edge of the stone platform was a creature named Chen Xiaofeng. He poured himself a drink from a bottle while gazing at the girl in the light beam with an amused expression.
"Setting aside whether you could actually succeed in killing yourself, even if you did, what would it matter? As long as we have your corpse, that fellow named Nyarlathotep or Chu Donglin will definitely not let your body rot in the wilderness. He will come rushing to reclaim it... The girl bound to the cross responded.

"You really are a strange person."
"Thank you..."
"Well then... After discussing matters of the heart, should we talk about something else? For example, if your sister finds out that you've been captured and comes to rescue you, what do you think our chances are... Of course, just casual conversation... Do you think we really have a chance of catching her?"
"Why are you so sure that my sister would fall into such an obvious trap?"
"Because she is Liu Mengying, the Ice Queen of Jiang Hai. That fellow may seem cold and aloof, but she has a very warm-hearted nature. She tries hard to save even strangers; how much more would she do for her own sister?"

Hearing him say this made the girl in the light beam smile again but remain silent.
The Zombie was unaware that she was not truly her sister's sibling.
They were only half-sisters, sharing the same father but not the same mother. They had never been together during their childhood, and even after reuniting as adults, despite caring for each other, a layer of unfamiliarity always lingered between them.

Because of this distance, they remained polite.
And because of that politeness, they were ultimately not the closest of people; she didn’t dare to act recklessly, fearing that any outburst might create an irreparable wound.
If they were truly close relatives, such worries wouldn’t exist.
Naturally, based on her understanding of her sister, she had not yet reached the point of recklessness where she would abandon everything for a girl who was not even her real sister.

“What are you thinking about?” Outside the beam of light, Chen Xiaofeng seemed to take pleasure in watching others in distress and asked with a smile.
This time, the girl let out a deep sigh and glared at him.
“You're really annoying… can’t you just let me be alone for a while?”
“Hahaha… My amusement comes from watching others struggle in despair; that sight is simply the most beautiful. Liu Xiner, can you share your thoughts with me? I’m curious about your mindset. What does someone on the brink of death think about?”
The girl glanced at him, sighed, and slowly said, "What about me? I can't help but wonder if all of this is just a fleeting dream. Perhaps after I die, when I close my eyes and then open them again, I'll find myself back in Wocheng, studying like I did years ago."
"Back then, my sister and brother-in-law were still together; they hadn't separated yet. I was living happily with them, just like before... Is that even a possibility?"
"What a philosophical thought. Hmm, I think..." Chen Xiaofeng stroked his chin, seemingly trying to form his own opinion.
However, in the next moment, a surge of blue light erupted from beneath the stone platform behind him. A pale arm seized his neck, cutting off any further meaningless chatter.
The beautiful figure that emerged from beneath the stone platform was surrounded by an astonishingly chilling aura, resembling an Ice Goddess from myth. The instant she appeared, even the air temperature dropped to freezing point, making the already wintry atmosphere feel even more biting.
In an instant, the blue light intensified to a dazzling degree, enveloping the entire stone platform. The girl bound to the cross heard the sound of Chen Xiaofeng's bones shattering.
Even a Fifth-Stage Zombie seemed fragile under such a terrifying assault.
Chen Xiaofeng's eyes widened in disbelief as he gasped out words he could hardly comprehend: "Impossible... here... Liu Mengying..."
Then, the monster's body exploded into fragments under the grip of the woman's pale hand.
The echoes of shocked cries still lingered in the air.
