Chapter Nineteen: Carnivorous Beasts 0

Lin Feng encountered numerous ferocious beasts along the way, but none were of a sufficient rank. He continued to slay them as he advanced. Among the books given to him by the Gray Robed Man, one was an introduction to ferocious beasts. 0

Ferocious beasts are classified into nine levels, with those above the Nine Levels referred to as spirit beasts, which possess intelligence and can transform into human forms. Initially, ranked ferocious beasts feed on spiritual herbs to convert them into their own spiritual power. They also hunt each other, leading to a survival of the fittest scenario. The flesh of ferocious beasts contains spiritual power; consuming it allows one to absorb that power, surpassing the benefits of eating spiritual herbs. 0

Spiritual herbs can only reach their full medicinal potential when refined into pills. This is why the cultivation progress of ferocious beasts is very slow. 0

Given his current cultivation level, Lin Feng believed he needed to hunt a First Rank ferocious beast to obtain its True Blood for a Medicinal Bath. 0

Lin Feng pressed deeper into the forest and soon encountered his first ferocious beast: a black bear. The black bear was massive and suddenly emerged from the underbrush. 0

Lin Feng reacted swiftly, unleashing a powerful punch that collided with the bear's paw. With a loud thud, Lin Feng felt an immense force strike him, forcing him to stagger back, while the black bear stumbled and rolled several times before regaining its footing. 0

Lin Feng looked at the black bear in surprise; he possessed ten thousand pounds of Physical Strength and had not shattered the bear's paw. Although he was currently at the first level of Foundation, his Physical Strength equated to what he had at the third level in the past. If he had encountered that same black bear in the Azure Wind Mountain Range, Lin Feng was confident that his earlier strike would have killed it. 0

"Could it be a beast of rank?" Lin Feng observed the black bear closely and noticed its armpit fur was white. He couldn't help but exclaim, "White-Furred Bear, a First Rank ferocious beast." 0

Typically, it takes decades or even centuries for ordinary beasts to reach First Rank. To evolve into spirit beasts requires not only possessing a spirit beast's Bloodline but also cultivating for a millennium. 0

The White-Furred Bear roared in anger after failing its initial attack and quickly crawled before leaping toward Lin Feng. Lin Feng dodged swiftly, evading the White-Furred Bear's strike and appearing at its side, delivering a powerful punch that knocked it down. 0

While the White-Furred Bear lacked Lin Feng's strength, its tough hide meant that his punches wouldn't inflict severe injuries. The two engaged in a fierce struggle for some time until the White-Furred Bear began to falter and raised its head to roar loudly. 0

Lin Feng heard rustling sounds approaching from afar; glancing back while jumping, he felt a chill run down his spine. Three more White-Furred Bears were charging toward him. It turned out that the previous bear's roar had summoned reinforcements. 0

Realizing he could no longer afford to linger, Lin Feng hurriedly fled as the White-Furred Bear pursued him. His speed was only slightly faster than that of the White-Furred Bear, making it impossible for him to shake it off. Not far behind him appeared three more White-Furred Bears, each larger than the last. 0

As Lin Feng sprinted for his life past a hillside, he rolled down without thinking twice. Along the way, he encountered some thorny plants that tore at his clothing. 0

The White-Furred Bear halted its pursuit and looked down at Lin Feng from atop the hill with an unwilling roar of anger but did not follow him down. The three bears that had just arrived stood beside the first one but dared not descend either. 0

Lin Feng watched as the White-Furred Bear gradually retreated, finally able to breathe a sigh of relief. He looked around; this was a hollow area, very damp, with shallow puddles of water. 0

Lin Feng sensed that there might be danger here; otherwise, the White-Furred Bear wouldn't have given up on hunting him. Cautiously, he moved along the edge of the puddle, trying to find a way to climb up on the opposite bank. 0

Suddenly, a large number of bubbles appeared in the waterlogged area, and then a black object emerged from the depths, coated in dark mud. It rose higher and higher until it reached an astonishing height of ninety feet. 0

Lin Feng stared in terror at the giant creature before him, realizing that its body was the same color as the black mud—round and robust. He looked toward the creature's head and noticed that its two eyes were also black, glowing faintly. Then this black giant flicked its tongue at Lin Feng. 0

The tongue was thin and blood-red, resembling a snake's forked tongue. 0

"Black Water Serpent, Ninth-Order Ferocious Beast." 0

Lin Feng was completely stunned; he never expected to encounter such a terrifying beast right after entering the forest. A Ninth-Order Ferocious Beast was nearly at the pinnacle of ferocity—there was no way he could match it. 0

Trembling all over with fear, Lin Feng dared not move. He stared at the Black Water Serpent and silently prayed, "Please don't see me... please don't see me..." 0

But reality defied his wishes; the Black Water Serpent's glowing black eyes remained fixed on Lin Feng. Then it opened its massive jaws and lunged at him. 0

The serpent's mouth was so large that Lin Feng felt he wouldn't even fill its gap between teeth. 0

Realizing he was doomed, Lin Feng didn't think twice and turned to run. Faced with such a monstrous attack, fleeing was his only option. 0

Though the Black Water Serpent appeared slow, it moved like lightning and quickly loomed over Lin Feng before snapping at him. It wouldn’t pass up an opportunity for a meal—especially one as rare as human flesh. 0

In this moment of peril, a golden light shot out from Lin Feng's storage bag. It was the Weak Spirit Monkey, which had been sleeping for a long time. Its body was small, only about the size of Lin Feng's arm, as if it had just awakened. 0

The Spirit Monkey stood atop Lin Feng's head and pounded its chest while screeching at the Black Water Serpent. Remarkably, it radiated a faint golden glow. 0

To everyone's surprise, upon seeing this little monkey, fear flickered in the eyes of the Black Water Serpent. It stared quietly at the spirit beast, hesitated for a long moment, then turned and slithered away into the depths of the forest to hunt elsewhere. 0

Lin Feng watched in astonishment as the Black Water Serpent left, struggling to believe what had just happened. He raised his hands to bring down the Spirit Monkey from his head. At that moment, the Spirit Monkey appeared dim and lifeless, lacking vitality; it couldn't even lift its eyelids. 0

Lin Feng immediately stored the Spirit Monkey in his bag, pressing it tightly against the Stone Pearl. With the nourishment from the Chaos Stone Essence, the Spirit Monkey's eyelids twitched slightly. 0

"What kind of monkey is this? It can even scare off a Ninth-Order Ferocious Beast. Incredible." 0

Lin Feng flipped through books about ferocious beasts and found some records about the Spirit Monkey. There are four great Spirit Monkeys in the world: the Spirit Stone Monkey, Red-Butt Macaque, Gibbon, and Six-Eared Macaque. 0

"Could this monkey be a descendant of one of those Spirit Monkeys?" Lin Feng speculated. 0

The monkey was inherently weak, and now, having scared off the Black Water Serpent to save him, it was even more exhausted. Lin Feng knew it would be impossible for it to appear again to rescue him. Everything depended on his own strength. 0

"This forest is terrifying; I encountered a Ninth-Order Ferocious Beast so quickly. How did Miaomiao find her way here?" 0

Feeling somewhat hungry, Lin Feng searched for a temporarily safe spot, caught a rabbit, built a fire, and roasted it to fill his stomach. After eating the rabbit, he noticed that he had gained a bit of strength back. Although it was just a slight increase, Lin Feng could feel it. 0

"This place is different from the Azure Wind Mountain Range where I was; the spiritual herbs here possess spiritual energy. Beasts that consume these herbs become extraordinary in body, and by eating these beasts, I can absorb their spiritual energy to enhance my Physical Strength. Moreover, this type of spiritual energy is much more vigorous than that of the herbs." 0

Lin Feng had heard of a tribe known as Barbarians; their physical strength comes from continuous training and consuming beasts to strengthen themselves. The forest is a biological chain where higher-level beasts possess greater spiritual energy. Suddenly, Lin Feng understood what the Gray Robed Man had been cooking in his water tank—it must have been high-grade ferocious beast meat, no wonder it smelled so delicious. 0

"If I eat that black bear, will I gain its strength?" Lin Feng thought as he smacked his lips. 0

Lin Feng began practicing the Angry Dragon Fist. He was currently cultivating with Vital Energy, which made him incredibly strong; the Angry Dragon Fist suited him perfectly. In just a few days of effort, Lin Feng fully grasped the essence of the Angry Dragon Fist. Each punch he threw resonated with a dragon's roar and was far more powerful than his Five Elements Fist. 0

"White-Furred Bear, it's time to settle the score." 0

Lin Feng returned to the territory of the black bear but did not see the White-Furred Bear. 0

"Black Bear, I'm here! Come out so I can deal with you!" 0

He shouted into the forest, trying to lure out the White-Furred Bear. After calling out several times, he heard rustling sounds ahead. A massive black figure burst through the trees and charged toward him—it was indeed the White-Furred Bear. 0

"Come at me!" 0

Lin Feng immediately fell to the ground and slid under the White-Furred Bear. Then, with a push of his hands, he leaped up and landed once again on the back of the White-Furred Bear. This time, Lin Feng swung his fists, unleashing the Angry Dragon Fist with all his might. His punches struck hard against the bear's back, creating a concave shape and breaking several of its ribs. 0

A howl of pain erupted from the bear. It had never expected that after just a few days, Lin Feng's strength had increased so much, and his speed had improved significantly as well. 0

Soon, three more White-Furred Bears joined the fray. They had not strayed far. 0

Lin Feng engaged in close combat with the four White-Furred Bears, narrowly dodging their repeated bites and scratches thanks to his speed, then launching timely counterattacks. This battle lasted for three hours. After three hours, all four White-Furred Bears collapsed lifelessly to the ground, while Lin Feng was nearly exhausted, resting against one of the bears' bodies, panting heavily. 0

He had seven gruesome wounds on his chest and back, deep enough to see bone. Lin Feng wiped the blood from the corner of his mouth and the sweat from his forehead before standing up to survey the four White-Furred Bears. 0

The method to defeat a White-Furred Bear was simple and direct: continuously bombard it with Angry Dragon Fist. It was like repeatedly throwing a blade of grass onto a cow; eventually, when enough pressure accumulated, the cow would be crushed. Using a sharp weapon could make it easier, but it wouldn't have as direct an effect on enhancing physical strength. 0

Lin Feng took out a porcelain vial and used a dagger to pierce through the bear's forehead to extract its Essence Blood. 0

Then Lin Feng started a fire, using the Ancient Cauldron as a pot to begin cooking bear soup. Half an hour later, the meat was cooked, and the Ancient Cauldron emitted a rich aroma that was intoxicating. 0

After taking a bite of bear meat, Lin Feng felt as if that piece of meat turned into a ball of flame within him, igniting his blood. Eventually, the flames were absorbed by his body, significantly enhancing his Physical Strength. 0

After consuming half of the black bear, Lin Feng felt flames coursing through him, making him unbearably hot. He did not understand the Barbarian's Martial Arts Technique and could not fully absorb this spiritual energy; he could only endure its torment while watching some of it overflow from his body and dissipate into the forest. 0

This torment continued for two hours. The Spiritual Flame burned through Lin Feng's Internal Organs and Eight Extraordinary Meridians. The pain caused him to roll on the ground, crying out in agony. 0

Lin Feng clenched his fists and struggled to maintain consciousness. If he fainted, there was a high chance that the Spiritual Flame would damage his Internal Organs and Eight Extraordinary Meridians, potentially leaving him incapacitated. 0

To alleviate some of the pain, Lin Feng swung his hands against a large tree. The tree cracked under his blows; it was simply too weak to provide any relief from his suffering. 0

Despite enduring excruciating pain, Lin Feng pressed deeper into the forest until he came upon a Rock Mountain. Overjoyed, he rushed toward it and began striking it with his fists. 0

Thud! Thud! Thud! Thud! 0

A powerful punch struck the rock, producing a thunderous sound as the stone shattered, leaving a fist imprint on Rock Mountain. Lin Feng continued to strike relentlessly, like a drummer, creating a cave within the mountain. 0

Time passed without him noticing, and finally, the torment of the Spiritual Flame subsided. Lin Feng regained his composure. He looked at his hands, bloodied and a sight to behold. 0

"It seems I've found a good method for cultivating my physical body. This will help me. I just wonder how Miaomiao is doing. With her talent, she shouldn't be in any life-threatening danger." 0

Lin Feng muttered to himself as he gazed at the path he had taken. He hoped that Miaomiao could grow stronger; regardless of whether she was forced onto the path of cultivation, once she chose this road, it was a matter of survival of the fittest. Lin Feng wished for Miaomiao to become powerful, even if it meant she would surpass him. 0

In this forest, Lin Feng believed that Miaomiao would undoubtedly change significantly. Perhaps she would come to resent him, but so what? 0
