Chapter Eighty-Six: Everyone Digging Together
The Nine Demonic Disciples activated their Demonic Blood Power, their hearts filled with concern about accidentally injuring Tu Jue, so they did not fight with all their might. Nevertheless, their power was astonishing. Faced with such a battle, both the demon race and the Barbarians saw soldiers below the Mid-Life Realm retreating thirty miles to avoid being caught in the flames of war.
Bang, bang, bang...
Shoulder Wu and Ying Zhao, massive Ancient Beasts, continuously collided with the light of the Ancient Cauldron. Bifang, another fire-element Ancient Beast, exhaled Earthfire to burn Lin Feng's flesh.
In the end, Lin Feng could hardly withstand it and was sent flying. However, in that fleeting moment as he was propelled away, although he did not kill Tu Jue, he managed to sever his left arm.
Lin Feng fell to the ground and slid backward toward the Barbarians under the immense force. He immediately rolled over, gripping the Moon City Sword tightly in his right hand and stabbing it into the ground. The entire Moon City Sword sank deep into the earth. At the same time, Lin Feng pushed off with his legs to stop himself from sliding backward.
Lin Feng's Moon City Sword carved a deep fissure in the ground as he moved it. His legs dug into the earth like a plow creating furrows. Finally, he stabilized himself about thirteen yards away from the Barbarian army.
The Ancient Beast manifestation of Tu Jue disappeared, revealing his true form. He clutched his injured left shoulder tightly and let out a low, pained cry.
"With the power of Golden Armor severing my arm, I refuse to accept this," Tu Jue coldly glared at Lin Feng, his eyes filled with icy malice.
Lin Feng stood up and wiped the blood from the corner of his mouth. "Are you sick? Do you want me to strip down and fight you? Let everyone form a circle and we’ll stand inside for a one-on-one? Do you think I'm an idiot or are you just too stupid?"
Lin Feng deliberately insulted him; even if he couldn't kill Tu Jue, venting his frustration seemed worthwhile. He observed his Xuanjia armor, noticing numerous spiderweb-like cracks appearing on it. However, as the Stone Pearl within him circulated Chaotic Aura, those cracks quickly began to heal.
"The Stone Pearl can also repair Xuanjia? No way; when my High-Level Battle Armor broke before, the Stone Pearl didn’t repair it," Lin Feng thought to himself in confusion.
Tu Jue stood at the forefront of several Cultists and picked up his severed limb from the ground, shockingly beginning to chew on it. The scene was bloody and grotesque, making it nearly impossible to look at without feeling nauseous.
"Is it any wonder they are called the Demon Clan? They even eat their own flesh, let alone their companions," Lin Feng mocked.
Tu Jue, however, seemed unconcerned, savoring each bite more and more. Before long, he had devoured an entire arm. He licked his lips, still wanting more, and said, "This is all because of you. Our resources are scarce compared to your vast lands. You shouldn't feel disgust; you should feel guilty. This is the crime your human race has committed against us demons, driving us to the brink."
Lin Feng had no time for idle chatter; he sensed that Tu Jue was deliberately stalling for time, possibly waiting for Meng Han. If the Demon Clan joined forces with Meng Han, Lin Feng knew his chances of escape would be slim.
"Tu Jue, I'll spare your life today, but I will come for you another day."
After speaking, Lin Feng burrowed into the ground. He couldn't use earth escape techniques, so he quickly dug a tunnel in a dog-paddling manner. With his incredible physical strength assisting him, he made good progress.
In the past, he had even created caves in mountains. Thus, Lin Feng was confident he could be an excellent coal miner.
"Trying to run away?"
Tu Jue had consumed his own severed limb and regained some strength. Although he could not unleash the Manifestation of Divine Powers again, his power was still formidable. Holding a giant axe in one hand, he burrowed into the ground to pursue Lin Feng.
At the same time, the Nine Demonic Disciples scanned for Lin Feng with their Divine Consciousness and then followed suit.
Ying Zhao was the fastest and worried about Tu Jue's safety; he also dove underground at the same time. Bifang soared through the air, continuously unleashing Earthfire at Lin Feng's location.
"Thirteen, are you insane? I'm down here too! Do you want to roast me and our boss alive?" Demon Six complained as his body was far weaker than Lin Feng's. The heat from the Earthfire was unbearable, prompting him to curse loudly.
Demon Thirteen heard this and not only did she not stop her attacks but intensified them instead. "There are too many brothers and sisters; our parents can't support them all. Burning one less is one less!"
"Burning hell, I'm going to kill this bastard. Thirteen, once I take care of this guy, I’ll make sure to toy with you, you filthy woman," Demon Six said angrily.
"Shut up for a moment. What time is it? You two still can't settle down. If we can't stop this person, when the second one gets angry, you'll be the ones suffering," Demon Five warned.
The transformed Shoulder Wu was massive, sprinting across the ground and creating a series of Thunderous Roars with each step. He quickly appeared in front of Lin Feng and began to dig into the earth, trying to intercept him.
Lin Feng frantically dug underground to escape, constantly using his Divine Consciousness to track the nine pursuing Cultists. He sensed a powerful aura rushing toward him from ahead.
"You think you can stop me? Do you think I can't change direction?"
Lin Feng immediately turned left and continued digging. The Cultists transformed into Ancient Beasts were so large that they nearly plowed through the earth, creating a riverbed dozens of feet deep. At this rate, their speed was severely hampered. They had no choice but to retract their Manifestation of Divine Powers and revert to their original forms.
Demon Six closely followed Demon Two. Seeing Lin Feng change direction, they quickly adjusted their own path and collided with the oncoming Demon Five.
"This guy is really cunning, damn it," Demon Five cursed as he failed to intercept Lin Feng.
"Today’s battle is frustrating. Why are we digging like dogs? If Master finds out, he’ll definitely laugh at us," Demon Six complained indignantly.
"Do you have a better idea?" Demon Five shot him a glare.
"Seems like I don’t."
"Then stop wasting breath and keep digging."
The two Cultists chatted as they dug into the earth. Above them, three Cultists flew, while seven others below were busy creating seven tunnels. However, their speed could not compare to Lin Feng's, who was quickly pulling away.
"I'm so pissed off."
Demon Two could no longer hold back; he swung his giant axe and tore open the ground, launching himself into the air. He soared through the sky, closely following Lin Feng, eager to see where he would run off to.
"Old Five, since Old Two has gone out, should we keep digging?" Demon Six asked.
"Let Old Nineteen and the others continue digging. We'll track him from above," Demon Five replied, also shooting up into the air, with Demon Six right behind him.
Magic Nineteen looked up at Demon Five and said, "Old Five, why should we keep digging?"
"Hurry up and dig! If you don’t, I’ll take it out on you. Blame that guy in front; he’s the reincarnation of a soil dog and loves doing this kind of thing. If you catch him, you can make dog meat soup," Demon Six retorted.
"Are you kidding me? Do you think I'm stupid?" Magic Nineteen thought to himself.
"Old Nineteen, hurry up and keep digging. Even if our cultivation isn't as good as theirs, we mustn't anger Old Two; otherwise, he might really eat us," Mo Twenty said reluctantly.
Lin Feng had no idea how much ground he had covered but felt that the few below had already been shaken off. There were still five above him, so he shot up to assess the situation.
Just as he emerged from the ground, Bifang spewed fire, Shoulder Wu swung its tail, and Tu Jue swung his giant axe. Lin Feng quickly dove back down to continue his work as a coal miner. Fortunately, he had looked down in time; otherwise, that previous attack would have caused serious harm.
Lin Feng continued to dig, while the Cultists relentlessly launched their attacks. With the Ancient Cauldron for defense and his Golden Dragon Armor protecting him, he was not in any immediate danger.
Pain was inevitable, but Lin Feng's formidable physique allowed him to endure it. After about five hours, night fell, and the stars filled the sky.
"We've been attacking for five hours. Even if his body is as strong as a giant's, he can't hold out much longer," Demon Six said, puzzled.
"This kid has a treasure for protection, plus top-tier Xuanjia armor. He can last for three more nights without any problem," Tu Jue replied coldly.
"Does that mean we have to chase him for three more nights?" Demon Five asked with a worried expression.
"This battle is frustrating. Kid, do you dare to come out and fight me?" Magic Nine shouted.
Lin Feng heard the voice clearly. Digging was becoming tedious, so he replied, "If you have the guts, come down here. I'll make you bow and call me 'Grandpa.'"
"Damn, this kid dares to talk back! And from the sound of it, he doesn't seem injured at all," Demon Five said in confusion.
Magic Nine spoke up: "You come up, and we'll battle for three hundred rounds."
"You come down, and we'll battle for six hundred rounds."
"You come up."
"You come down."
"Come up if you dare."
"Come down if you dare."
"Stop with the nonsense, is this even interesting?" Demon Five shouted in frustration, causing Magic Nine to quiet down.
Lin Feng's situation underground was not optimistic. The Golden Dragon Armor was indeed powerful, but it consumed too much Vital Energy. He felt that the Vital Energy within him could only last for one more day at most. If his Vital Energy ran out, he would undoubtedly die. These people were relentless in their pursuit, leaving him no time to meditate and recover.
Tu Jue looked into the distance, his eyes shining with determination. "Ahead is the Cloud Sea; we've finally cornered him. Let's form a circle and block all his escape routes. We can't let him slip away."
"If we don't kill this person today, I won't rest easy."
The other Cultists echoed in anger.
