Chapter One Hundred and One: Purple Jade Glass Skirt
The competition seemed to foreshadow its own conclusion from the very beginning. Without any manifestation of divine powers or formidable martial arts techniques, the seals set by the elder of Solitary Moon City proved ineffective.
The inner sect disciples of Solitary Moon City displayed expressions of disbelief until the three senior disciples left the arena with their heads down. Only then did they realize the stark reality before them.
Facing three opponents single-handedly, Lin Feng's strength astonished everyone.
"Lin Feng didn't even draw his sword. He just won."
"How powerful is he? I fear Brother Lu wouldn't stand a chance against him."
As the inner sect disciples whispered among themselves, Lin Feng calmly walked off the battlefield, taking Miaomiao with him until they reached the shrine of Solitary Moon City. Once there, Lin Feng looked around to ensure no one was watching and said, "I have a special gift for you."
"What is it? You're being all mysterious," Lin Miaomiao asked with curiosity.
Lin Feng produced an old wooden box and slowly opened it, pointing inside at a purple dress. "This is called the Purple Jade Glass Skirt. It's a gift I brought back for you from my journey. Do you like it?"
"You really are thoughtful."
Lin Miaomiao felt a sweetness in her heart as she reached into the box. Upon touching the Purple Jade Glass Skirt, she found it exceptionally soft and smooth.
"I wonder what material this is made from; it feels so comfortable to touch."
As Lin Miaomiao shook out the Purple Jade Glass Skirt, vibrant colors shimmered and danced beneath its purple backdrop, changing and flickering with her movements. The light was soft and gentle, not at all blinding, despite its brilliance.
"Wow, it's so beautiful!"
Unable to contain her joy, Lin Miaomiao tossed the Purple Jade Glass Skirt into the air. She leaped up gracefully, twirling in mid-air until she landed, already wearing the skirt.
"What do you think, Lin Feng? Does it look good?" Lin Miaomiao asked cheerfully as she spun around.
The Purple Jade Glass Skirt, like a thin veil, gently clung to Lin Miaomiao's figure. As she moved, it occasionally shimmered with a soft, colorful glow, adding an air of mystery to her presence.
Lin Feng had never seen Miaomiao dance so joyfully before and couldn't help but exclaim, "The dress is beautiful, and you are even more beautiful."
"Are you stunned? Come with me," she said, pulling Lin Feng's hand as they ran to the edge of the cliff where they had once sat together.
With a bright smile on her face, Lin Miaomiao asked, "Lin Feng, did you receive the letter I sent you?"
Lin Feng nodded. "I did. It was very touching; I've read it many times. Hehe."
"This place is empty; how about I dance for you?" Lin Miaomiao suggested with a grin.
Lin Feng feigned surprise. "You can dance?"
"What do you mean? Am I not gentle enough? Just watch," she replied.
Facing the wind, Lin Miaomiao began to dance gracefully, her supple body swaying softly. She pivoted on her right foot, extending her long sleeves as her delicate form spun faster and faster. Suddenly, she leaped into the air.
Miaomiao lightly touched the void beneath her feet, her garments flowing and hair cascading like a waterfall. She appeared like a fairy descending to earth. Lin Feng watched in awe, unable to look away.
Miaomiao's movements were light and ethereal; she floated like a swallow. Her body was as soft as clouds, and her arms seemed almost weightless. With each rise and fall, she resembled a butterfly dancing among flowers, a gentle stream flowing by, or the bright moon in the deep mountains—simply breathtaking.
Finally, Miaomiao landed gracefully on her toes in the void, like a dewdrop poised delicately on a lotus leaf—alive and exquisitely beautiful.
After pausing for a moment, Lin Miaomiao proudly asked, "So, what do you think, Young Master Lin? Are you satisfied?"
Lin Feng hurriedly wiped away his drool and stammered, "Wonderful! Truly wonderful!"
"I asked how my dance was. Why are you calling me by my given name?" Lin Miaomiao said angrily.
"I wasn't calling you; I was just saying how wonderfully you dance, absolutely marvelous," Lin Feng explained.
"How annoying, using my name for fun."
Suddenly, Lin Feng had a playful thought and stood up, saying, "This beautiful lady, do you have someone special in your heart?"
"What do you mean by that, young master? What if I do? What if I don't?" Lin Miaomiao responded playfully.
"If you do, then forget about him from now on. Because starting today, you belong to me."
"Young master, do you have any silver to help me buy my freedom? I'm quite expensive, you know!"
"Hahaha, I may lack many things, but money is not one of them."
"Even if you have money, it won't help. If the young master doesn't understand my heart, even if he has me, he won't win my affection."
"First, let's get you," Lin Feng said as he lunged toward Lin Miaomiao with exaggerated movements. She nimbly dodged and laughed, "Please be respectful, young master; I'm not that kind of person."
"I'm not that kind of person either! But when I get playful, I'm not human anymore. Hahaha, come on, let me give you a kiss."
Lin Feng and Lin Miaomiao frolicked on the edge of the cliff. The year and a half of longing that Lin Miaomiao had endured found solace and fulfillment in this moment, transforming into drops of happiness that seeped deep into her heart.
Not far away on a mountain peak stood a young man in white robes. He was exceptionally handsome; it was Lu Wushuang, the senior disciple of Solitary Moon City. Watching Lin Miaomiao and Lin Feng on the opposite cliff made his face turn pale with anger as he gritted his teeth and said, "That shameless Lin Feng has no right to win my junior sister's heart! I must expose him for what he is so she knows how unworthy he truly is."
On the day of their departure, Elder Xu, who guarded the ancestral hall, specifically called for Lin Feng and Lin Miaomiao to give them some advice.
Elder Xu looked at Lin Miaomiao with a kind expression and said, "Miaomiao, the road ahead is long; act with care in all matters."
"Yes, Master," Lin Miaomiao obediently replied.
Elder Xu turned to Lin Feng with a stern expression and said, "You must take good care of Miaomiao, do you understand?"
"Yes, Elder," Lin Feng replied respectfully, thinking to himself how everyone was human, yet the differences were so vast.
Elder Xu took out a jade slip and handed it to Lin Miaomiao. "Miaomiao, this jade slip contains one of my Sword Techniques. In times of danger, crush it, and it can save your life. Do you remember?"
"Thank you, Master," Miaomiao said with a smile as she accepted it.
"Another jade slip! If I could get Elder Xu's jade slip, wouldn't that mean I have three life-saving charms?" Lin Feng thought to himself, unable to contain his excitement as he extended his right hand.
Elder Xu glared at Lin Feng's outstretched hand and scolded, "What are you doing?"
Lin Feng suddenly realized that there was none for him and cursed Elder Xu in his heart for being stingy. He feigned innocence and said, "Nothing."
Elder Xu seemed to find Lin Feng displeasing no matter how he looked at him. Fortunately, there was the delightful presence of Lin Miaomiao. Elder Xu's gaze was entirely focused on Lin Miaomiao as he spoke earnestly, "Miaomiao. Throughout the history of the Jiuzhou Gathering Conference, our Solitary Moon City has only achieved second place once when my junior brother participated."
"That time, my junior sister also attended. She secured third place using the Purple Twilight Sword you now hold. Today, you have found the Purple Twilight Sword from the Sword Pool; this is a stroke of fortune. When the Purple Twilight Sword returns to Zhongzhou, it must not tarnish its former glory."
"Rest assured, Master. This time when we go to Zhongzhou, I will strive to secure second place," Lin Miaomiao said confidently.
"Second place? Where's your ambition? You should aim for first place. What we lack in Solitary Moon City is first place. My junior brother entered Fate Realization at fifteen and ranked fourth on the Stele. You stepped into Fate Realization at fourteen and broke his record. Your current ranking on the Stele is second, just behind He Rongsheng in first place. You're smart; do you understand what I mean?" Elder Xu asked.
Lin Miaomiao initially wanted to aim for first place but hesitated because if she took first, Lin Feng would not be able to. She said cautiously, "Master, isn't second place good? The first place is already reserved for someone."
"Who is so presumptuous?" Elder Xu inquired.
Just as Lin Miaomiao was about to mention Lin Feng's name, he tugged at her clothing urgently. Yet Miaomiao blurted out, "It's our strongest disciple from Solitary Moon City—Lin Feng."
"Him?" Elder Xu nearly lost his composure upon hearing this; he coughed several times before calming down.
Lin Feng wore a bitter smile, thinking: Miaomiao, how can we share our private thoughts with others? You really don't listen well.
Elder Xu quietly observed Lin Feng, sensing that he harbored some secrets; otherwise, he wouldn't have garnered the favor of his junior. However, upon recalling that Lin Feng's name was not inscribed on the monument, he couldn't help but shake his head and say, "Miaomiao, I too was young once. In my pursuit of your senior sister, I boasted quite a bit. I claimed that the Jiuzhou Gathering Conference would be mine alone. Young people often like to brag in front of girls. Do you understand what I mean?"
Lin Feng felt completely ignored by Elder Xu and cursed inwardly: Old man, no wonder you never caught up with your senior sister. It must have been Sword Saint Senior who won her over. In life, the most important things are vision and open-mindedness. You can't see this dark horse of mine? Just wait for the shock.
Suddenly, Elder Xu sneezed and angrily exclaimed, "Who is cursing me behind my back?"
"That was quick to react," Lin Feng immediately fell silent.
Lin Miaomiao thought for a moment and said, "Master, I will do my utmost. Even if my opponent is Lin Feng, I will not hold back."
"Very well. Your determination is enough. Go ahead. I will await your triumphant return."
