Chapter 10: Defeat of the Demon Barbarians
The Alliance Army underwent a significant transformation since their first assault. In the center, the strongest forces of the Alliance Army gathered: Wind Spirit, Lin Feng, Mulan, Chen Guang, and several other Divine Generals from the Wind Nation.
As the two armies lined up and clashed, the Alliance Army suddenly shifted formation. The left and right flanks retreated at lightning speed while the center charged forward with reckless abandon.
The center acted like a sharp blade, piercing directly into the heart of the Demon Barbarian Army. They faced two formidable generals, Ward and Mouthpiece. Lin Feng, Wind Spirit, Mulan, Chen Guang, along with other Divine Generals from the Wind Nation, displayed unparalleled combat prowess as they pushed forward relentlessly against the Demon Barbarian Army.
Soon, they encountered Ward and Mouthpiece. Lin Feng and his companions surrounded them and swiftly took down both generals. Rather than basking in their victory, they quickly ordered their troops to retreat, maintaining alignment with the previously retreating left and right flanks. At the same time, each general returned to their respective command positions.
This sudden turn of events dealt a heavy blow to the Demon Barbarian Army, losing two of their generals. Meanwhile, the left and right flanks of the Demon Barbarian Army prepared to strike back at the Alliance Army but found no opponents to engage.
Everything unfolded too quickly. By the time the Demon Lord realized what was happening and commanded his left and right flanks to assist, it was already too late.
The Demon Lord was astonished. "These young warriors are remarkable; they achieve victory through unconventional means. They truly have guts."
"Royal Guard, advance."
The Royal Guard of the Demon Lord surged forward once more. Upon seeing this unexpected force from the demon race approaching, the Alliance Army's soldiers followed their prior agreement and swiftly withdrew, avoiding direct confrontation.
Lin Feng rushed in at top speed to intercept the demon forces. He struck the leading Armored Soldier with a powerful punch, their fists colliding in an explosive impact.
Bang...
With a deafening sound, Lin Feng felt a terrifying force surge towards him, forcing him to stagger back ten steps. He could clearly feel his hands going numb and even experienced sharp pain in his bones. His internal energy surged violently; had he not held it back with great effort, he would have coughed up blood by now. This was not merely one person's strength; there was a subtle connection among them that formed a formation—when one struck, it felt as if all were attacking together.
"No wonder the soldiers find it hard to resist. Even my physical body suffers against them. The Demon Lord has trained such a powerful Royal Guard."
Lin Feng dared not confront them directly; instead, he maneuvered among them, trying to restrain their movements and find their weaknesses.
In the Alliance Army, only Lin Feng had any hope of defeating this formidable force. Against such a cohesive unit, long-range Divine Ability attacks were ineffective. Close combat was equally daunting due to their overwhelming power.
Holding the Moon City Sword, Lin Feng darted among the thirteen soldiers with incredible speed. When he found an opening, he immediately struck. The Moon City Holy Sword was sharp beyond compare, and it severed the left shoulder of one Armored Soldier.
Lin Feng had expected that with this strike, the Armored Soldier's left shoulder would be completely severed. To his surprise, he only managed to slice off a portion of the Xuanjia armor.
"Is this Xuanjia too thick?"
Typically, a few centimeters of thickness would be considered substantial for Xuanjia armor. However, theirs was nearly ten centimeters thick. Lin Feng had cut through four centimeters, yet there remained seven or eight centimeters of thickness.
No wonder they moved so slowly. This Xuanjia must weigh a ton.
As Lin Feng sliced through the Xuanjia, he was struck hard from behind by one of them. The blow sent him flying. When he landed, he coughed up blood, and his own Xuanjia showed signs of cracking.
Getting back on his feet, Lin Feng felt as if every bone in his body had shattered. Fortunately, it wasn't a Hammer strike; otherwise, his body might have been crushed entirely.
The more he fought, the more he sensed their strength and terror. Lin Feng continued to intercept them; if these Xuanjia soldiers faced anyone else, they would slaughter without mercy.
Lin Feng could no longer afford to act recklessly; he sought the best and safest moments to strike and take advantage of opportunities to chip away at their Xuanjia armor. Although the Royal Guard of the Demon Lord was fearsome, they couldn't even touch Lin Feng's figure. They could easily massacre an entire army, but taking down a practitioner with Physical Strength comparable to theirs—who was agile and nimble—proved to be quite frustrating for them. Even with all their might, they couldn't land a hit.
Lin Feng was like a woodcutter, slowly chipping away at their Xuanjia piece by piece.
The Demon Lord watched as his Royal Guard faced obstacles and were treated like firewood. He was somewhat astonished: "Lin Feng, your physical body puts even my own to shame."
As the Demon Barbarian Army suffered losses with two generals down and their elite troops hindered by Lin Feng, it became clear that they were at a disadvantage and on the brink of collapse.
"I never expected that the one forcing me to take action would be a young man. Truly impressive."
The Demon Lord chose to act, stepping forward until he stood before Lin Feng.
Lin Feng suddenly felt an overwhelming pressure wash over him. He instinctively stepped back and looked up, only to see the Demon Lord towering over him, a full half a head taller.
But to Lin Feng, it was not just a matter of height. The Demon Lord loomed like a mountain before him.
This peak-level cultivator exuded an aura that demanded submission.
Lin Feng forced a smile. "I didn't expect to use a sledgehammer to crack a nut."
The Demon Lord replied calmly, "You are not a nut; you are a young eagle on the verge of maturity."
"You flatter me, esteemed Demon Lord."
"Are you prepared to surrender, or shall I take action myself? Or perhaps you would like to become a friend of my royal family?" the Demon Lord inquired.
"Who would willingly walk into their own demise? Please, esteemed Demon Lord, do what you must."
It would be a lie to say Lin Feng felt no fear. Only by standing close to a Foundation Realm expert did he truly understand the overwhelming authority they radiated, instilling dread deep within him.
He fought to suppress his fear and activated five Manifestations of Divine Powers.
"What a pity, what a pity," the Demon Lord lamented twice before making his move. He struck simply, extending his fist forward. However, an immense surge of Vital Energy erupted forth, tearing through the void and obliterating all obstacles in its path with an unstoppable force aimed directly at Lin Feng.
As the intent of the punch reached its peak, the phenomena surrounding Lin Feng erupted, and even the Golden Armor he wore was riddled with cracks. It felt as if every bone in Lin Feng's body was being crushed under immense pain.
In the end, the punch did not land on Lin Feng. At some point, a white figure had appeared between the Demon Lord and Lin Feng.
This person exuded an aura like that of an immortal, ethereal and transcendent.
The Demon Lord looked at this individual with a hint of surprise. "You destroyed a sect?"
"Not yet, but I'm close," Lin Bai replied.
Seeing Lin Bai's arrival, Lin Feng felt a surge of joy within him. Then he noticed his own right arm was empty, the sleeve fluttering gently in the breeze.
"Master, your right arm?" Lin Feng exclaimed in shock.
Lin Bai replied calmly, "I sacrificed it to eliminate Jiang Zhan more quickly."
Lin Feng was left speechless; his suspicions were confirmed. His master had indeed been delayed by the Fire Departure Sect. What he hadn't expected was that the Flame Sect Leader had already perished.
The Demon Lord said, "Exchanging one hand for Jiang Zhan's life is worth it from any perspective."
"I think so too," Lin Bai responded.
"Without your sword hand, you are no match for me," the Demon Lord stated, showing no urgency to attack.
Lin Bai replied, "Though I have lost my right hand, I possess something that can still challenge you."
"You."
"I have a heart set on death."
The Demon Lord fell silent upon hearing these words, moved by Lin Bai's imposing presence. This statement was not made lightly. Once a Foundation cultivator decided to disregard their life, they could indeed become terrifying.
Moreover, this person was the universally acknowledged Swordsmanship Supreme of the Jiuzhou Continent.
The Demon Lord said nothing more, and in his hand appeared an ancient-looking knife—a Holy Blade.
"Please."
"Please."
The two peak experts of the Foundation entered the Void War. At that moment, no one could see the battle unfolding within. The brilliance they emitted was like the blazing sun, impossible to gaze upon directly. All that could be heard was the continuous sound of Thunderous Roar.
"Master, you must not come to harm," Lin Feng silently prayed.
As the Demon Lord departed, Lin Feng once again plunged into the ranks of the Demon Lord's Royal Guard, resuming his skilled chopping tasks.
The Demon Barbarian Army had lost two generals, creating significant issues in their central command. With the fierce bombardment from the Tang Dynasty Allied Forces, the center of the Demon Barbarian Army collapsed.
Too many troops had gathered in the center, and their defeat quickly triggered a chain reaction, leading to successive collapses among surrounding forces. Without a commanding general to stabilize them, this collapse was like holes appearing in a dam; if not repaired in time, it would lead to catastrophic flooding and an uncontrollable situation.
The Tang Dynasty Alliance Army entered a frenzied killing mode, and it was exhilarating. The Demon Barbarian Army had lost its military spirit and, like those suffering from panic attacks, turned to flee at the sight of the Tang Dynasty Allied Forces.
Seeing that defeat was inevitable and knowing that the Demon Lord would not return anytime soon, Heishan prepared to carve out a bloody path for escape with his subordinates. Lin Feng led the Armored Soldiers to confront them, determined to slay the First Demon General of the demon race.
Wind Spirit worried for Lin Feng's safety and ordered Chen Guang to lead some troops to follow him.
Heishan fought desperately to break through, carving out a bloody path. Just as he was about to escape, Lin Feng arrived and engaged in battle with Heishan. Chen Guang soon followed, joining the fray.
Lin Feng and Chen Guang teamed up, and Heishan's spiritual weapon was no more. After a prolonged struggle, Heishan found himself at a disadvantage. Half an hour into the battle, Heishan was covered in blood, with horrific wounds exposing white bone. In the end, Lin Feng's sword was poised at Heishan's neck.
Just as Lin Feng was about to strike, a voice rang out: "Stop."
With that statement, a young man stepped out from the remnants of the demon clan's forces. Lin Feng focused his gaze; it was Meng Han.
Meng Han looked at Lin Feng and reflected on his current cultivation level, feeling a wave of emotions. Back in the day, when he realized his fate, Lin Feng had been just a weak practitioner. Now their identities had completely shifted.
"Meng brother," Lin Feng greeted him with familiarity upon seeing Meng Han.
"Please spare my master," Meng Han pleaded, kneeling before Lin Feng, demonstrating how important Heishan was to him. (To be continued...)
