Tian Feiyu listened as Liu Yunfei praised the proud individual, feeling increasingly fond of this disciple. He pointed out several shortcomings in Xunuo's technique and had Liu Changqing demonstrate the corrections for Xunuo. Xunuo then practiced the adjustments on the spot.
Afterward, Xunuo said, "The other day, when I saw Brother Zigong thrust his sword, it was like a flurry of Sword Flowers. Although I grasped the essentials, I couldn't produce the Sword Flowers myself. I need to ask my master for guidance on this."
Tian Feiyu glanced at Zigong Changhe, who turned his gaze toward Xunuo. Their eyes exchanged unspoken meanings.
It turned out that on that day, Zigong Changhe had only taught Xunuo the sword techniques without imparting any internal skills. Upon reflection, he felt it was somewhat inappropriate since Xunuo was still in the Outer Gate and might inadvertently break the rules. He reported this matter to Tian Feiyu in detail.
Now seeing Xunuo perform the sword dance and seek further instruction, Tian Feiyu suspected that there was another intention behind Xunuo's learning of the sword techniques. He couldn't help but admire Xunuo's depth of thought.
After a moment of contemplation, Tian Feiyu said, "Today, you came to practice with your senior brother Liu Yunfei to rehearse the Seven Star Sword Formation. This formation is fundamental to our sect; since you are here, you can observe it closely."
Having finished speaking, he drew his sword and stood ready. Liu Yunfei and the others immediately held their swords with both hands and positioned themselves according to the Seven Stars. Suddenly, a vast sword intent surged forth, causing Xunuo to feel a tightening sensation in his body, followed by a piercing pain as if thousands of swords were pricking him.
Liu Changqing quickly pulled Xunuo back to the edge of the courtyard. Only then did the pain subside, but Xunuo continued to tremble and asked in a shaky voice, "What caused this pain all over my body?"
Liu Changqing stared intently at Xunuo and asked, "Is it very painful?"
Xunuo replied, "It feels like countless needles piercing my bones."
Liu Changqing continued to gaze at Xunuo and stated slowly, "That is sword intent."
Xunuo responded in confusion, "What is that?"
Liu Changqing finally shifted his gaze away and closed his eyes slightly. "You will understand without me explaining it; it will come to you soon."
Still bewildered, Xunuo watched as the Seven Star Sword Formation began to operate with a thunderous force. The participants became one entity, transforming into a monstrous creature enveloped in sword light. They spun in circles in the center of the courtyard before starting to move around it. Wherever they passed was like a hurricane sweeping through. While Liu Changqing remained steadfast as if rooted to the ground, Xunuo was blown about by the wind, struggling to maintain his balance.
No matter how wide Xunuo opened his eyes, he could not see the figures behind the dazzling sword light. He only witnessed this seemingly invincible creature of sword light hovering around for a brief moment before retracting its brilliance and transforming back into seven individuals.
After completing a round of the Seven Star Sword Formation, those in the center appeared pale and their breaths unstable. They sat down on the spot to meditate and recover.
Xunuo thought: This Seven Star Sword Formation is immensely powerful but consumes Inner Strength at an extraordinary rate.
After about a meal's time had passed, several individuals opened their eyes one after another, all looking at Xunuo with expressions of confusion.
Tian Feiyu pondered for a moment before saying to Xunuo, "Follow me."
He turned and walked toward a two-story Small Building. Uncertain of what was happening, Xunuo had no choice but to follow closely behind.
As the two left, Zigong Changhe looked at Liu Yunfei and remarked, "It seems we finally have someone in our ranks who can surpass Liu Shidi."
Liu Yunfei snorted coldly and replied, "Since Lu Zaisheng entered your Seven Star Sword Hall, my master Ximen Tower has told me that this young man has exceptional comprehension. Today, it appears that not only does he possess extraordinary insight, but he can also sense sword intent even as a novice in the sword path. It’s uncertain whether I will surpass him in the future. However, this matter is not something you can debate."
At these words, the six surrounding disciples glared at him angrily, yet none could refute his statement. Liu Yunfei glanced around and arrogantly left with a flick of his sleeve.
Watching Liu Yunfei's retreating figure, An Mo Sheng sighed deeply. "Alas, we can only blame ourselves for lacking skill. A prestigious place like the Seven Star Sword Hall has to rely on outsiders to lead the Seven Star Sword Formation; it’s truly a slap in the face."
Zigong Changhe turned to Liu Changqing and asked, "Earlier, when you were with Lu Shidi, did you gauge his depth of understanding regarding sword intent?"
Liu Changqing's expression was grave as he replied, "It's unfathomable."
The others gasped in shock upon hearing this.
Zhang Shoufeng slowly said, "If that's the case, our Seven Star Sword Hall finally has hope. We won't have to keep looking at Liu Yunfei's face anymore. Every time he returns, he wears a sour expression and looks down on us brothers."
An Mo Sheng interjected, "While that may be true, it still depends on opportunity. Having talent does not guarantee one will achieve greatness. At least for the time being, we will still be under Liu Yunfei's thumb; we cannot let our anger at his arrogance ruin the Seven Star Sword Formation." Zhang Shoufeng nodded in agreement. "Exactly. We can only wait for Lu Shidi to mature before we can proudly send him back."
Meanwhile, Xunuo followed Tian Feiyu into the Small Building but did not ascend the stairs; instead, they entered a small windowless chamber. Once seated at the table, Tian Feiyu asked, "What did you think of the Seven Star Sword Formation just now?"
Xunuo replied earnestly, "Its power is immense; I could only see flashes of sword light without any figures. If someone were caught within it, there would be nothing left."
Tian Feiyu nodded and explained, "The Seven Star Sword Formation was created by the Founder of the Wuhua Sect to help future generations establish themselves in the martial world. Back then, the Founder mastered the supreme sword technique known as Sword Light Divergence. With just one sword in hand, he made a tremendous name for himself. However, none of his disciples could inherit his legacy or master Sword Light Divergence. Thus, he devised this Seven Star Sword Formation to simulate its effects through formation power so that our sect could survive until now. Originally, this formation had a single focal point with six others surrounding it; therefore, it required extremely high skill from the person presiding over it. That person must be able to unleash Seven Flowers with one sword to activate the Seven Star Sword Formation properly. As our sect faced decline over time and talents became scarce—finding someone who could unleash Seven Flowers with one sword became exceedingly rare—we had to change from a single focal point to a dual focal point formation. However, this dual focal point formation is significantly weaker than its single counterpart. For instance, my master and Liu Yunfei's disciple form a dual focal point together; my master can barely manage one sword producing Liuhua while Liu Feiyun is slightly weaker than him. Together we can produce ten One Flowers. But compared to the single focal point One Sword, Seven Flowers formation, its power is only two or three times less effective. If someone from our sect could unleash Seven Flowers with one sword again, we could restore the original power of the Seven Star Sword Formation—and that person must come from either you or Liu Yunfei."
Xunuo was taken aback and exclaimed, "I am just starting out on my sword path; let alone One Sword, Seven Flowers—I can't even manage One Flower! How can I compare myself to Liu Shixiong?"
Tian Feiyu urged him on: "Tell me about what you felt earlier during your formation with them."
Xunuo responded hesitantly, "Are you referring to the sharp pain I felt when you all formed the Seven Star Sword Formation?"
Tian Feiyu nodded affirmatively and said, "Yes indeed; elaborate on that."
Xunuo recounted that feeling in detail to Tian Feiyu.
Tian Feiyu listened intently, and after a moment of contemplation, his expression turned serious. "You came today to ask for the internal cultivation method, didn't you?"
Without waiting for Xunuo to respond, he stood up and walked over to the bookshelf, taking down a book.
Carefully, he untied the string and handed the first page to Xunuo. "Take a look at this first. See if you can understand it; then I'll explain it to you."
Xunuo glanced at the page and immediately understood. He was somewhat surprised. This page was somewhat similar to the first layer of the Huayang Classic, both teaching how to nurture and strengthen True Qi within the Dantian. However, this one taught the method of breathing, truly inhaling breath into the Dantian. It focused on refining essence within the Dantian, continuously accumulating True Qi to gradually grow stronger.
In contrast, the Huayang Classic did not discuss breathing techniques; as soon as one began to cultivate, True Qi would roll in from all directions. Therefore, one had to first expand the Dantian to hold more True Qi. Comparing these two cultivation methods revealed a significant difference that could not be overlooked.
Seeing Xunuo remain silent for a while with a look of astonishment, Tian Feiyu thought he couldn't comprehend it. He smiled and said, "Go ahead and tell me what you understood."
When Xunuo heard this, he succinctly explained the cultivation method on that page.
