A man walked in from outside, with a Miller-like figure. After being pushed aside, Miller pinched Daphne's cheek, let her go, and walked to the full-length mirror he had just been in front of.
Daphne stood by and watched for a while, feeling a bit bored, then went downstairs.
Just now, Mrs. Gina was asked to rest on the first floor. She thought there would be someone to greet her when she went downstairs, but to her surprise, there was no one on the first floor. After searching for a while, she finally found the resting area in the corner, sat down on a chair, picked up the teacup that was upside down in the middle of the table, and poured herself a cup of tea.
Mrs. Gina The tea in the shop is a bright yellow color, different from the one at her home. Daphne lifted the teacup and took a sip, but there was no taste, only a faint astringent flavor.
There was nothing interesting on the first floor either. Daphne looked boredly outside the front door, where Cart driver was sitting in his position, nodding off.
So... if she leaves Mrs. Gina's house and goes for a walk now, will anyone know? Daphne was a little excited. She gently placed the teacup on the table and tiptoed out of Mrs. Gina's house.
When passing by the Cart driver, he suddenly shrugged his shoulders, frightening Daphne into freezing in place.
It turned out that the Cart driver just changed positions, hummed a few times from his nose, and continued sleeping. Daphne breathed a sigh of relief, casually turned left, and walked onto the city's main road.
This city is not as lively as she imagined. Every house is tightly shut, as if trying to guard against something, not even showing a crack.
Her brother said everyone is sleeping inside the houses. If everyone is sleeping at night, why are she, her brother, and Louis and Lucia sleeping during the day?
She walked along the cobblestone path, taking small steps, when suddenly she heard some strange sounds.
It sounded like... someone was moaning?
Daphne slowed down her pace and walked slowly towards the alley where the sound was coming from, taking light steps deeper into it.
The moaning sound became clearer and clearer, Daphne's heart pounding wildly. She stood at the turning point, her palm pressed against the rough stone wall.
At that moment, she could hear that within ten meters, two people were doing something. Daphne grabbed her hair and cautiously peeked out, using one eye to look at the scene inside.
At just one glance, her pupils instantly contracted in fear, sharp and thin like a ferocious beast.
Deep in the alley, a tall, muscular man with dark curly hair tightly gripped a woman's shoulder, his grip so strong it seemed as if he wanted to meld her into his own body.
He lifted the woman's body up and buried his head in her neck. The terrifying fangs of a beast pierced the woman's neck. After retracting his fangs, the man greedily sucked the blood continuously flowing from her neck.
The woman, tightly bound, seemed to feel no pain at all. Her face was satisfied and happy, and she moaned along with the man's movements, even as her voice grew weaker and her face paler, until she eventually passed out completely.
Daphne's shoulders trembled with fear, and she covered her mouth as she carefully backed out of the alley.
She had been under her brother's protection since waking up and had never witnessed such a cruel scene. Even when she was offended by the men of William's family that day, her brother deliberately covered her eyes when he punished them, not letting her see.
I don't know how long it took, but she finally made it back to the main road, fearfully holding up her skirt as she ran back to Mrs. Gina's house.
"Brother!"
Daphne ran up the stairs and pushed open the door.
Miller had just finished putting on his coat, and turned to see Daphne running towards him. He reached out and embraced her with both arms.
"Brother!" Daphne buried her face in Miller's chest, tears falling one by one, wetting his shirt.
Miller furrowed his brow, holding her head and gently patting her back to comfort her, softly reassuring, "It's okay Flora, don't be afraid. What happened?"
Daphne lifted her head, tears welling in her eyes as she looked at Miller, her eyelashes wet and clumped together, looking extremely pitiful.
