"Miss Xu, since this seat is taken by others, I won't disturb your meal. I'll go to another table," Jiang Chen said as he stood up, preparing to leave with Tengye Kikuko.
However, Du Guanghua was not about to let Jiang Chen go easily. He had been struggling to find a way to showcase himself, and with Jiang Chen presenting himself on a silver platter, he decided to use Jiang Chen's perceived weakness to highlight his own superiority. In Du Guanghua's eyes, aside from being younger, Jiang Chen had nothing that could compare to him. It was truly shallow of Xu Zhuzhu to take the initiative to chat with someone like him.
"Since you're Huaxia People, let's eat together. Don't be polite; today, I’m treating," Du Guanghua said with a smile.
"You’re lucky! Manager Du is treating you all to a meal today, so feel free to eat your fill. Don’t worry about saving money for Manager Du; he has plenty of it—he's the chairman of Shenzhen Huiyang Investment Group," Qian Xinyi chimed in, her words dripping with flattery towards Du Guanghua.
Du Guanghua had already managed to persuade Xu Zhuzhu’s parents, so it was easy to win over her friend Qian Xinyi with just a little favor. Qian Xinyi was diligent in her efforts, eager to please Du Guanghua as if she wanted to elevate him to the heavens.
"Since Manager Du is treating, I’ll gladly accept," Jiang Chen said with a smile. If Du Guanghua wanted to show off, let him; as long as he didn’t go overboard, Jiang Chen couldn’t be bothered to argue.
Jiang Chen sat back down, and Qian Xinyi quickly shifted further into the booth so that Du Guanghua and Xu Zhuzhu could sit together. Once seated, Du Guanghua immediately showcased his wealthy demeanor; with just one sentence, he had the restaurant owner come personally—a display of status—and proceeded to order numerous delicacies that required advance reservations.
When the food arrived, it was a feast for the eyes. Even Tengye Kikuko, the wealthy lady from an island nation, couldn't help but be stunned by the extravagance of Manager Du's wealth.
Du Guanghua took it upon himself to peel shrimp for Xu Zhuzhu like a gentleman. She accepted with an awkward smile; at this point, she felt trapped and had no choice but to accept his advances.
Jiang Chen didn’t hold back either; faced with such an array of delicious food, he dug in heartily. Watching him eat without reservation only fueled Du Guanghua's disdain.
"Xiao Jiang," he said casually, "considering your age, you must not have been working for long. Which company are you at? If your qualifications are decent, you could come work for me in the future."
Du Guanghua spoke with a condescending smile that reflected his position as chairman. However, his air of superiority fell flat in front of Jiang Chen.
Tengye Kikuko nearly choked on her Bluefin Tuna Sashimi at Du Guanghua's ridiculous attempt to show off in front of Jiang Chen and his absurd questions; it was laughable.
"I'm sorry!" Tengye Kikuko quickly apologized and returned her focus to her meal, not daring to speak further.
Jiang Chen smiled faintly and glanced at Du Guanghua before replying, "I graduated high school just last year; I’m afraid I can't join Manager Du's company."
"Oh, no wonder you're so young. My company only hires graduates from prestigious universities; we don’t consider anyone below 985. A high school graduate can only work as a laborer—something you might not want! But if I give you a backdoor opportunity, you could start in the office; however, you'd have to begin from the ground up. If you can pass the internship period, there’s a chance for a permanent position," Du Guanghua continued with a grin as if he were conducting an interview.
