If you dare to do that, I'll really admire you," Du Guanghua sneered. Jiang Chen's attitude was simply too arrogant, which made Du Guanghua increasingly annoyed.
"Manager Du, I don't need your admiration. I advise you not to go to the Eastern Deity Shrine for worship; it won't do you any good," Jiang Chen replied.
"Hmph, I see you're just all talk in front of us. If you dare to say this to the Islanders in the Eastern Deity Shrine, not only will I admire you, but I'll also give you five million. What do you say? Do you dare?" Du Guanghua was now determined to confront Jiang Chen, wanting to see him humbled.
Jiang Chen remained silent, a playful expression on his face.
"Ten million!" Du Guanghua raised the stakes.
"A hundred million, do you dare?" Seeing that Jiang Chen still hadn't reacted, Du Guanghua gritted his teeth and offered what he considered an astronomical figure.
Xu Zhuzhu and Qian Xinyi were both taken aback. Qian Xinyi exclaimed, "Hey, if I were you, I'd definitely agree right away. Even if the Islanders beat you up, it wouldn't matter. A hundred million is something you'll never earn in your lifetime."
Jiang Chen smiled and said, "Manager Du, if you want to play, I'm willing to play along, but a hundred million is out of the question. If you put all your assets on the line and bet with me, I can agree."
"Hmph, your life isn't even worth five million in my eyes. Betting a hundred million with you is already a high price; do you think I'm going to risk all my assets? You really think too highly of yourself," Du Guanghua scoffed. Jiang Chen's words seemed utterly thoughtless.
"If you're unwilling, then forget it," Jiang Chen said nonchalantly, his expression unchanged.
"You..." Du Guanghua nearly exploded with anger. Jiang Chen's attitude repeatedly provoked him, but he managed to hold back. After hesitating for a moment, he decided to go all in.
"If you want to gamble, I'm willing to accompany you. But if you're capable, let the Eastern Deity appear and say what you just said in front of it. If you can actually make the Eastern Deity show up, I'll call you grandpa," Du Guanghua declared. He didn't believe for a second that Jiang Chen could summon the Eastern Deity, so agreeing was no big deal. Besides, even if he lost, there was no way he would hand over his assets to Jiang Chen; after all, words alone held no legal weight.
"Manager Du, there's no need to call me grandpa; I don't have a grandson like you," Jiang Chen laughed.
"Stop trying to be clever with words; just answer me—do you dare?" Du Guanghua sneered.
"What's there to be afraid of? It's settled then," Jiang Chen agreed readily. Some people simply wouldn't learn their lesson unless they were taught one; since Manager Du insisted on walking into danger, Jiang Chen couldn't let him off easy.
"Manager Du, aren't you at a disadvantage here? You're betting all your assets while this kid has nothing; that's not fair to you," Qian Xinyi interjected.
"I'm not at a disadvantage because he can't possibly win. Since he wants to play, I'll play along with him. Young people never give up until they hit rock bottom," Du Guanghua replied confidently.
"But Manager Du, what if this kid really manages to summon the Eastern Deity? What then?" Qian Xinyi asked with concern.
"We should just pray that the Eastern Deity doesn't show up; if it does appear, he probably won't see tomorrow's sun," Du Guanghua sneered.
"That's true," Qian Xinyi finally felt reassured.
