A few hours later, Jiang Chen and the others arrived in a valley at Mount Buddha, where the Eastern Deity Shrine was located. The shrine occupied a large area, and as Jiang Chen gazed intently, he could see that all the external Spiritual Energy was being absorbed into the Eastern Deity Shrine.
"You all wait outside. I'll go get the Eastern Deity," Jiang Chen said, then strode alone into the shrine.
Seeing Jiang Chen leave, Du Guanghua turned to Tengye Kikuko and asked with a slight tremor in his voice, "Can I ask what grievances exist between Mr. Jiang and the Eastern Deity?"
"Manager Du, I just told you that Yo Yinan is dead, and it was Mr. Jiang who killed him," Tengye Kikuko replied.
"Ah? Why didn't you say so earlier?" Du Guanghua exclaimed, stepping back in shock, his face pale with fear.
"If it weren't for your insistence on betting with Mr. Jiang earlier, I wouldn't have told you now. Manager Du, Mr. Jiang came to find the Eastern Deity to eliminate it; you're bound to lose this bet," Tengye Kikuko laughed. She had been just as shocked as Du Guanghua and the others last night, but now she had adjusted to the situation.
Du Guanghua's face turned ashen, unsure of what to do next. Xu Zhuzhu and Qian Xinyi had varying expressions; Xu Zhuzhu's eyes flickered with a hint of delight—if that were true, she wouldn't have to marry Du Guanghua after all—while Qian Xinyi comforted Du Guanghua, saying, "Manager Du, losing is just losing; it's only a verbal bet. You just need to deny it later."
Qian Xinyi's words were exactly what Du Guanghua wanted to hear.
"Miss Qian, Miss Xu, I will need your help when the time comes," Du Guanghua said.
"Manager Du, your matters are my matters; I will definitely help," Qian Xinyi readily agreed.
Xu Zhuzhu remained silent.
Seeing that Du Guanghua seemed intent on avoiding his obligations, Tengye Kikuko couldn't help but laugh. "Manager Du, as an outsider, let me advise you: if you lose, you can plead for mercy, but never think about going back on your word. If you do that, I can guarantee 100% that Mr. Jiang will kill you."
"Kill me? If he dares to kill me, he won't be able to stay in Huaxia anymore and certainly won't get my money," Du Guanghua retorted confidently. He was sure of this; after all, what era was it? How could someone kill without consequence? Besides, he had status and connections in Huaxia.
"Manager Du, if you truly understood Mr. Jiang, you wouldn't say such things. You can ignore my warning; just don't regret it later," Tengye Kikuko smiled sadly for him. Why did he have to provoke Jiang Chen? Wasn't that courting death? Jiang Chen could kill without blinking; he had even dared to kill within the Takeda Family in Island Nation. Not to mention that Du Guanghua was merely a wealthy man from Huaxia—he couldn't compare at all to the Takeda Family. Killing him would be like a casual act for Jiang Chen.
"I still don't believe he would dare to kill," Du Guanghua insisted.
Tengye Kikuko fell silent as she looked at the Eastern Deity Shrine.
Although Du Guanghua didn't believe Jiang Chen would kill him, he still felt some worry creeping in. He thought maybe he should just offer Jiang Chen a few hundred million; giving up all his assets was out of the question.
"Have you ever seen Jiang Chen kill someone?" Xu Zhuzhu asked curiously.
"Yes. The Takeda Family—do you know them?" Tengye Kikuko nodded in response.
"I know them; they're a prominent family from your Island Nation. Did Mr. Jiang really kill someone within the Takeda Family?" Xu Zhuzhu was utterly shocked.
Tengye Kikuko smiled but did not respond further, which could be taken as an acknowledgment.
