But this worry passed in an instant. He knew better than anyone that Su Che loved him deeply, even if there had been misunderstandings in the past. Each time, Su Che would be easily soothed by just a few words from him, or as he had said, after being left alone for a few days, he would come looking for him.
Perhaps it was Su Che's usual indulgence and tolerance that made him think this time would be the same. Little did he know that Su Che had long harbored thoughts of leaving him and would be glad never to see him again.

At that moment, Xiao Tao stepped forward and looked at Xu Mu with some surprise.
“Oh? Why is young master Xu here at this time? The young master has gone to the clinic; it’s said that Divine Doctor Qu has returned. He might take a long time to come back and could even stay at Dan Yao Hall for a few days.”
Xu Mu nodded upon hearing this but didn’t ask why Su Che needed to stay at Dan Yao Hall if he was unwell. He simply left the Su Family with the chestnut pastries.
After Xu Mu left, Su Che walked out of the house and watched Xu Mu's departing figure. Xiao Tao couldn’t help but say, “ young master Xu came to explain things to the young master, but he didn’t even ask if you were sick and just left without taking the chestnut pastries?”
Su Che didn’t take it to heart; he didn’t particularly care for those pastries anyway. He had only bought them before because Xu Mu liked them so much.
He had never really considered his own feelings; it was laughable how oblivious he had been in his previous life.
Although Xiao Tao didn’t quite understand Su Che’s actions either—after all, he used to be very fond of young master Xu —he had believed everything Xu Mu said without question. Even if Xu Mu claimed the sun was square, Su Che would nod without hesitation.
This led to some of Xu Mu's actions being intolerable even for someone like him who served as a servant, yet he still dared not speak up to Su Che. Because even if he did say something, Su Che wouldn’t believe it. However, the Su Family never mistreated their servants, which made them extremely loyal.
“From now on, don’t concern yourself with him. His matters are unimportant and need not be mentioned to me again.”
Xiao Tao nodded in agreement while feeling pleased with Su Che’s change; his young master’s fall had been worth it as it seemed to have cured his “eye ailment.”
Yet Xiao Tao still tentatively asked, “Since you no longer like young master Xu, why not just say it plainly?”
If it were him, he would find it uncomfortable just to look at him any longer.
Su Che replied calmly.
"Just understand this in your heart; today, your young master will teach you a lesson: showing your emotions is not good. As for why, you will know in the future."
Xiao Tao nodded and said nothing more.
That night, Su Che tossed and turned in bed, unable to sleep, constantly pondering the jade pendant in his hand. This pendant was not his; it had accidentally fallen from Mu Junze during their encounter earlier that day. He had intended to return it, but with Xu Mu's appearance, he feared that it might lead to ulterior motives if Mu Junze found out, so he kept it.
Coincidentally, during their hurried parting, he had been thinking of a reason to meet again, and now he had one.
What Su Che did not know was that at the Duke Beiqin's mansion, there was someone else who was also unable to sleep. That person was Mu Junze. The moment he saw Su Che, he was captivated by his appearance. Those clear and beautiful eyes, the handsome features, and a faint fragrance about him made him seem like a frightened little deer hiding in his embrace.
His voice was soft and pleasant; the way he called him "young master" struck a chord in his heart. That scene lingered in his mind for a long time, prompting him to give orders as soon as he returned home.
"Have someone investigate which young master I encountered today. Is he married or engaged?"
He was a meticulous person; no one's small actions escaped his notice. Thus, when the pendant fell, he realized it immediately. However, seeing Su Che's awkwardness and having his own reservations, he pretended not to notice and turned to leave. He looked forward to meeting Su Che again but wondered how long it would take.
The next morning, Su Che quietly slipped out through the back door and headed to Dan Yao Hall. When Divine Doctor Qu saw him sneaking around and looking over his shoulder, he approached and patted him on the shoulder.
"Why do you look like you don't recognize Dan Yao Hall after just a few days? Sneaking around in your own place—did you get into trouble with your father again?"
Su Che scratched his head sheepishly and playfully shook Qu Qingxuan's arm. "Uncle Qu, don’t tease me! I've been quite well-behaved lately. I rarely get a chance to sneak away here. But my parents will be coming soon, so please praise me a bit more."
Qu Qingxuan affectionately pointed at his forehead. "You still look like you haven't grown up at all. It's quite unusual today; usually, you're inseparable from your cousin Xu. Why are you alone now?"
Su Che shrugged and spread his hands helplessly. "Some people just don’t appreciate what’s right in front of them. Speaking of him, I might need Uncle Qu's help in the future. When he comes looking for me under my name, feel free to disregard my face and follow the rules."
Qu Qingxuan raised an eyebrow at this remark, thinking they must have had some sort of disagreement but didn’t take it too seriously. After all, things would likely return to normal soon enough. If he truly believed Su Che's words, he might end up slapping himself in the face later on.
Zhu Bajie refused to engage in such a self-deprecating act of looking in the mirror.
"By the way, Uncle, didn't you say you would teach me medicine? Today, I will start by observing and learning in the Front Hall," he said, not waiting for Qu Qingxuan's response before darting off to the Front Hall, where he stood in front of the medicine cabinet, occasionally chatting with the assistants.
Qu Qingxuan could tell that his intentions were not purely about learning, so he shook his head but chose not to say anything and let him be.
Before long, the Dan Yao Hall was bustling with people. Patients came in droves every day, not only from the common folk but also from high-ranking officials. Qu Qingxuan's medical skills were so esteemed that even the Imperial Court Physician sought his advice, and even the current Sovereign regarded him as a divine healer.
However, he did not pursue fame or fortune; his reason for opening the Dan Yao Hall in Capital City was twofold: to ensure that the impoverished could afford medical care and to look after Su Che's family.
As noon approached, it was typically time for meals when one would expect fewer people. Yet, this was not the case for Dan Yao Hall, which meant that the assistants took turns eating.
Qu Qingxuan, however, did not have such a busy schedule; he was only called upon for extremely rare and complicated cases.
