"I never expected that in today's Huaxia, there would still be young people like you, which surprises me." Suddenly, a voice echoed softly, as if it came from all directions, making it hard to discern its source.
It was the voice of the Eastern Deity, deep and ethereal, carrying a sense of ancient melancholy. He spoke in Huaxia Language; after all, the Eastern Deity had challenged Huaxia Martial Arts a century ago, so it was natural for him to know the language. This kind of malevolent spirit could easily learn languages, just like Jiang Chen could quickly pick up Island Language if he wanted to. The Onmyoji were nearly in tears upon hearing the voice of the Eastern Deity.
"Stop with the theatrics and show yourself," Jiang Chen said calmly.
He was genuinely curious about this Eastern Deity; perhaps he could uncover some ancient cultivation traditions from Earth through him.
"If you wish to see me, it depends on your abilities, Huaxia child. A century ago, when I swept through your Huaxia Martial Arts, your grandfather hadn't even been born yet. You dare to be so arrogant here?" The voice of the Eastern Deity remained elusive and filled with arrogance; as a Millennium Ghost God, how could he fear a young man?
"Fine, you won't come out?" Jiang Chen sneered and then stomped on the ground, creating a deep pit as he launched himself into the air like a cannonball.
The roof was blown open by the shockwave as Jiang Chen soared into the sky, standing with his hands behind his back, his demeanor regal as he gazed down at the entire Eastern Deity Shrine with eyes like calm waters.
Seeing Jiang Chen hovering in mid-air shocked Du Guanghua and Xu Zhuzhu outside the shrine, their pupils dilating in disbelief.
"What is he? A human or a ghost? He can actually fly!" Du Guanghua murmured in astonishment.
Amidst their shock, Jiang Chen summoned the Sky Sword, which danced in the air like a colorful ribbon of sword energy.
Jiang Chen reached out and caught the Sky Sword in his hand. He began to wield it against the Eastern Deity Shrine; with each swing, brilliant waves of sword energy erupted forth, crashing down upon the shrine's buildings, land, and vegetation. The rampant sword energy quickly reduced the Eastern Deity Shrine to ruins.
Dust billowed and shockwaves surged like tides, causing Du Guanghua and others to hurriedly hide behind a large rock.
"Huaxia child! How dare you destroy my shrine!" A furious voice roared from beneath the Eastern Deity Shrine.
Immediately afterward, a thick black mist erupted from a dry well within the shrine like a volcanic explosion.
The black mist was dense and flowed through the air like dark blood—terrifying indeed.
"What... what is that? Could it be the Eastern Deity?" Du Guanghua peered over from behind the rock, his face filled with shock.
Xu Zhuzhu and Qian Xinyi were also frightened but couldn't help but look on with growing dread; after all, what they saw of the Eastern Deity was too horrifying!
"This is the Eastern Deity; it's not some divine being but rather a notorious Demon God that once plagued our Island Nation. It took hundreds of High Monks working together to subdue it," Tengye Kikuko explained.
