In the moment when the Death Apostle was thrown out, illuminated by the light radiating from his body, I saw a creature that resembled a wolf but was as massive as a bull. It towered over the Death Apostle by about two heads, its eyes glowing a deep crimson.
"Could this not be the master of the Cursed Realm, but rather that child's 'dog'?!" I thought, drawing my sword and preparing to charge. The thrown-back Death Apostle seemed to anticipate my action, shouting from a distance, "Don't engage! If you lose your sanity, no one will know how to escape. Let me handle him!"
Suddenly, a fiery red light erupted around him, transforming into countless Soul Threads that cascaded down like a blood-red waterfall towards the wolf-like monster.
Before the creature could react, the torrent of Soul Threads closed in, and with a mournful cry from the beast, they struck it down into a puddle of blood.
The Death Apostle retracted the Soul Threads and cautiously surveyed his surroundings. Seeing that there were no more threats, he withdrew the power of the Void Spirit, and the red flames dissipated.
I made my way toward the Death Apostle, relying on my memory. "Death Apostle, are you alright..." I asked as I groped my way forward.
He responded from ahead, "I'm fine; just got knocked around a bit. It hurts... a little..."
No sooner had he finished speaking than a man's voice echoed from the darkness nearby. "I knew that Bitch would ruin my plans... But since you’ve made it here, you must not be ordinary people..."
I retorted sharply, "Hiding in the shadows doesn’t make you a man. If you have guts, come out and face me!"
Before I could finish, his voice suddenly drew near as if he had appeared right in front of me. "Face to face? Sure!" He suddenly lunged at me; I felt something slice across my left shoulder with such speed that I had no time to react. Blood gushed from my shoulder and splattered onto my face.
At that moment, even though I couldn't see him, I could feel him standing directly in front of me. The waves of Killing Intent and coldness emanating from his body filled me with dread.
But there was no room for fear now. "Death Apostle! Light!" I shouted desperately.
Hearing me from not far away, the Death Apostle erupted once more in red flames. He gathered the fire around him into a fireball and launched it directly at my feet.
With a boom, the fireball exploded beside me, igniting the space around us instantly. In that moment, a blood-soaked middle-aged man appeared before me, standing rigidly with a malicious grin on his face.
Seizing the opportunity, I held up a photograph with one hand, positioning it right in front of his eyes.
The sparks emitted by the fireball vanished in an instant, and I couldn't tell if the Evil Spirit in front of me had seen the photo. There was not a sound in the darkness as I patiently waited.
At that moment, I felt a rush of foul wind above my head. I quickly stepped back several paces, and then with a whoosh, something swept past me, creating a strong gust.
"Did it work?!" Death Apostle asked anxiously from a distance.
"It seems he didn't see the photo clearly! Fire again!" I shouted.
I watched as Death Apostle transformed the flames into Soul Threads, gathering them into a red orb of light that flew toward me.
Just as the orb was about to reach me, I sensed something even faster rushing toward my face.
Realizing the danger, I thought to myself that there was no time to dodge...
In that critical moment, I heard the sound of flesh being pierced, and then a chill ran through me as I thought, "This is the end..."
At the same time, Death Apostle's orb arrived. Amidst the red glow, I was stunned by what lay before me.
A child appeared before my eyes, his face covered in blood. His chest had been completely pierced by a hand, and a bright red Heart was tightly grasped in that hand.
With blood tears streaming down his face, the child choked out, "Uncle, you're going to help our family return to normal later, right... you... you have to keep your word..." As he spoke, a mouthful of cold blood sprayed onto my face.
"Okay! Uncle promises you!" I replied, tears unexpectedly welling up in my eyes.
Upon hearing this, the child's face showed a look of relief before gradually turning into pure white ash that scattered into the air.
At that moment, my heart was filled with endless rage. "You bastard! You can't even spare your own family! Open your damn eyes and see clearly!" I shouted as I held the photo up in front of him.
In the red light, everything in the photo was clearly exposed to his gaze.
He was momentarily taken aback, and then I heard a sound reminiscent of glass cracking. The noise grew louder, and even the space before my eyes began to fracture.
Suddenly, at those cracks, the space shattered into countless pieces as if it had been struck.
Accompanied by the shattering of the Cursed Realm, the Soul Threads formed by the Death Apostle using the Void Spirit also burst apart, unable to hold on any longer, exploding into countless red sparks that blossomed in the darkness.
Through those sparks, I vaguely saw that we were no longer in a parking lot but in an empty space, perfectly square in shape.
"Is it over?" The Death Apostle murmured, and I heard a thud from his direction as he fell to the ground.
"Yes, it's over." I clutched my shoulder and walked toward the Death Apostle's voice.
Suddenly, I heard Li Zhisheng's voice behind me, "Where am I?" Yao Long was also mumbling, "What kind of place is this?"
I thought to myself, "It must be the shattering of the Cursed Realm; we’ve been transported out."
A loud rumble of thunder confirmed my thoughts. "But wait, if the Cursed Realm shattered, we should have returned to its entrance. But this isn’t it at all, and the structure here... Could it be..."
In the darkness, I shouted, "This is bad! We're in Onizuka! We've fallen into a trap!"
The other three exclaimed in unison upon hearing my shout, "What?!"
Just then, the Death Apostle let out a muffled grunt as he was suddenly thrown back by something and crashed against the wall behind me, colliding right into Yao Long.
"You’re not wrong; this is indeed Onizuka. Unfortunately, you realized it too late!" A booming voice echoed as a purple-black oval light appeared ahead.
That light resembled a door standing in mid-air. The source of that voice was beside that door. By the faint glow of the light, I saw that it was indeed the Evil Spirit who had just killed his own family.
"Why haven't you disappeared?!" I tightened my grip on Jiang Ling and demanded an answer.
He chuckled mockingly, saying, "Oh, disappear? I don't think you understand the kind of power I possess!" Then, a cacophony of ghostly wails erupted from the aura around him, growing louder and closer.
"Money? Family? Those are nothing compared to what I have now. I possess power—unmatched power! You all must die, and I will kill more! Many more will perish at my hands!" He let out a maniacal laugh.
"It seems I have no choice..." I muttered to myself.
He heard my words and scoffed, "No choice?! Yes, you have no choice because you can only die!" He continued to absorb the ghosts emerging from the aura into his body.
I had no intention of acknowledging him. Instead, with a blank expression, I slowly turned Jiang Ling around and plunged the blade into my own chest.
In that instant, I felt time freeze. The Void Spirit within me spoke: "I can sense your disgust, your anger, Hatred. Come on, show me just how intense your hatred is!"
I silently vowed, "I will not disappoint you..."
With that, I yanked Jiang Ling out forcefully, a surge of intense Killing Intent flooding my heart as I infused the unleashed power into Jiang Ling.
The sheer force of the energy was overwhelming; the sword's hilt released a blinding light that illuminated the entire square room in crimson. At the same time, bolts of lightning crackled around me, and upon contact with the concrete ceiling, they shattered it to pieces.
Before I knew it, time resumed its flow. Dim moonlight poured in through the broken roof and bathed me in its glow.
"Who... who are you?!" The Evil Spirit across from me looked utterly terrified at my transformation.
"I am here to eliminate you." With that, I lifted Jiang Ling, pushed off with my legs, and charged forward. The force was so great that I smashed a large hole into the cement floor beneath me.
Seeing my fierce advance, the Evil Spirit, disregarding the unfinished absorption of ghosts, quickly leaped up and broke through the roof to escape.
Just as I was about to pursue him, I heard Death Apostle shout behind me: "Be careful! This Onizuka belongs to Penglai Star, which must have gathered a large number of Vengeful Spirits and Evil Ghosts. If it absorbs them all, we’ll be in serious trouble!"
After hearing this, I paused for just a moment but felt no concern or fear in my heart; instead, I continued straight after that Evil Spirit.
As he was about to be caught, he attempted to strike back in an effort to halt my pursuit. But I was not about to give him that chance; I swiftly sidestepped and delivered a slash.
A dark Slash Mark shot out, severing his arm just as he tried to launch an attack. Without hesitation, I closed the distance above him, raised Jiang Ling, and brought the hilt crashing down onto his head. The Evil Spirit let out a wretched scream as it plummeted from the air.
Looking in the direction of its fall, I realized that we had been on the rooftop of the Moutai Building, where there was a square-shaped space.
The Evil Spirit crashed onto the rooftop with a loud thud, sending up a cloud of dust and debris.
Seeing this, I controlled my upward momentum and quickly turned to charge into the swirling smoke.
"This isn't right; it shouldn't be like this... He should have been unable to do anything once I reached this point. How could it turn out like this... How could it be like this... How could it be like this!" The Evil Spirit roared amidst the haze.
