I turned my head towards the sound and saw Li Zhisheng, just like me, bound to an iron frame. He struggled to break free, but the wires binding his hands and feet were made of metal, not rope, making his efforts futile.
"Stop struggling; it's useless. Your hands and feet are tied with metal wires," I said helplessly to Li Zhisheng. Upon hearing my voice, he immediately halted and asked, "Where are we? Have we been captured?"
I looked around. "I don't know... um... it seems like we have. Try using the power of Soul Burial to see if you can escape."
After hearing this, Li Zhisheng nodded. Suddenly, a thick black mist erupted from his trapped hands. He exerted force, and I heard the sound of metal scraping as the wires began to deform.
Just when I thought he might break free, the door swung open, and a gaunt man walked in from outside. He glanced at Li Zhisheng, who was struggling with all his might, and calmly said, "Save your strength; this isn't rope—it's metal. You can't break it..."
Before he could finish, there was a loud snap as the wire around Li Zhisheng's hands broke. The man was momentarily stunned before hearing three more snapping sounds.
Li Zhisheng flexed his wrists and stood before the man. "What did you just do?" The man turned to flee upon seeing that Li Zhisheng had completely freed himself, but Li Zhisheng wouldn't let him escape to call for help. As the man turned, Li Zhisheng swiftly raised his fist and struck him on the temple, causing him to collapse to the ground.
"Quick, help me get free!" I shouted at Li Zhisheng.
"Don't worry; I won't leave you behind..." With that, Li Zhisheng approached me. He lifted the wire binding my hands and then slipped his fingers inside to grip it tightly.
"Hey!" Li Zhisheng shouted suddenly as he pulled back with force, snapping the wire that bound my hands. He then crouched down to break the wire around my feet.
"I suspect we've been captured at Yang Master’s headquarters; Hu Fang might be here too..." Li Zhisheng said as he walked over to the door and opened it a crack, peering cautiously outside.
I replied, "It would be great if we could rescue Hu Fang, but given our current abilities, it's impossible to force our way out. If we don't save Hu Fang, we might struggle to escape ourselves."
"Since we can't force our way out, we'll have to avoid them..." Li Zhisheng turned back and closed the door. "I took a quick look earlier; there's a long corridor outside with not many people passing by. Every so often there's a door; it seems like this row is filled with people they've captured."
Upon hearing this, I pointed at the man lying unconscious on the ground. "He seems to be wearing a staff uniform. What if we change into his clothes? It might make it harder for us to be discovered."
Li Zhisheng nodded. "Yeah, but there's only one set. I'll go get another one..." Just then, we heard footsteps approaching the door, and it sounded like there was only one person. Li Zhisheng stood by the door, patiently waiting. As the footsteps reached the entrance, he quickly yanked the door open. The person outside was startled and tried to call for help, but before he could react, Li Zhisheng stepped forward and knocked him down with a punch.
He dragged the unconscious man inside. "Come on, let's each take a set." With that, Li Zhisheng and I stripped him of his clothes and changed into them.
"It should be fine now. As long as we don't draw too much attention, we shouldn't be discovered..." Li Zhisheng said as he peeked outside. "There's no one around right now; let's go."
With that, he stepped out of the room alone, and I followed closely behind.
As soon as I stepped outside, I suddenly felt an overwhelming sense of oppression, as if something invisible was pressing down on me from above. "Is it because this place is so low?" I muttered to myself.
"Wait a minute, do you think Hu Fang might be locked in one of these rooms?" I asked, standing in front of a closed door. Li Zhisheng turned back to look at me. "I feel like Hu Fang is still a hostage and is probably locked up somewhere alone. If he were here, they wouldn't have locked us up as well."
Hearing Li Zhisheng's reasoning made some sense to me, but I still decided to take a look first...
The door wasn't locked and opened easily for me. However, as soon as it swung open, a foul stench of decay rushed into my nostrils, causing me to cough uncontrollably. Flies occasionally buzzed out from inside, making it feel like I was in a sewer.
"What are these Yang Masters doing?!" Li Zhisheng exclaimed at the doorway, his voice filled with righteous indignation.
At his words, I looked up and saw a large metal frame standing against the wall inside the room. Three people were tied to it, but they had been dead for quite some time; the bound corpses emitted a nauseating odor.
Just then, in the dim light, I noticed a camera placed on a table in the center of the room, seemingly set up to record something.
I held my breath against the foul odor and stepped forward, picking up the camera to take a look. The device was dead, but the memory card had not been taken. I removed the card, thinking, "If they were using it to record some kind of Evil Sorcery or rituals, I might still find some useful clues."
"Let's go! Since we confirmed it's not Hu Fang, there's no need to stay any longer. The longer we linger, the more likely we are to encounter danger!" Li Zhisheng urged from behind.
"I found something... coming!" I covered my mouth and nose with one hand, stashing the memory card into my pocket as I responded.
Then, I left the room. In the corridor, I checked every room I encountered, but aside from discovering a few more cameras and several long-dead bodies, I found nothing else—not even a living soul.
Reaching the end of the corridor, a staircase appeared before us. It seemed we were at the very bottom of some facility.
"What on earth is Yang Master’s group up to? First, they built an amusement park, and now this facility appears. Are they really what Death Apostle claims—a righteous organization punishing evil and promoting good? Even if there are internal issues, it shouldn't have turned out like this. This is clearly some long-planned conspiracy!" I sighed at the thought.
Li Zhisheng was about to ascend the stairs when he heard my sigh. "I know what you're thinking; I share your concerns. But you must understand that there is no absolute good or evil in this world. Anyone can change—even ghosts..."
