Since I had not activated the power of the Void Spirit, I could not see the things he referred to. I could only whisper, "Could this be the ghost that girl produced after she died?!" 0

Li Zhisheng looked puzzled. "I don't think so. After all, they have no grievances against each other. Even if that girl turned into a Vengeful Spirit after her death, she wouldn't be able to possess someone so quickly, right?" 0

At that moment, Hu Fang, who had been watching us whispering, interrupted, "What are you two quietly chatting about?" 0

"Nothing much," I replied with a smile, turning my gaze to the person sitting in the wheelchair. His skin was somewhat dark, likely from frequent sun exposure, and the mix of white hair in his buzz cut seemed to tell me about his age. 0

The nurse pushed him to the bedside and helped him onto the bed, gently asking him some questions about his family. He responded with a heavy local accent. 0

After a while, the nurse left, leaving him alone on the bed while the tune he had been humming continued without pause. "Are you hungry? I'll go get you something to eat," I turned to Li Zhisheng and asked. 0

He still had a hint of gloom on his face, but his stomach let out a loud growl. He smiled sheepishly. 0

"Then you wait here; I'll go buy something for you. Hu Fang, do you want anything? I'll get you a portion too." 0

At that moment, Hu Fang did not show her usual excitement at the mention of food. It seemed she was still feeling sorrow over that girl's death. She replied flatly, "Just buy whatever you think is good. If you get something for Li Zhisheng, just bring me a portion as well." After hearing this, I agreed and turned to leave. 0

Once outside the hospital, I wandered around but did not find anything particularly appetizing. So I bought some noodles and similar items and brought them back. 0

The three of us finished eating together. By now it was close to dusk. After chatting for a while, Li Zhisheng said to Hu Fang and me, "Why don’t you two head back first? I can manage here by myself." 0

Earlier I had heard that Li Zhisheng might be in danger, so I intended to stay with him. I was surprised he wanted me to leave first. "But aren’t you…?" I started to say before he interrupted me with a smile, signaling me to relax. "Did you forget what I have on me? Don’t worry; if anything happens, I'll call you." He made a gesture as if holding a phone. 0

I thought for a moment and realized that my current abilities were indeed very limited. Moreover, Hu Fang's Void Spirit was still unverified, and she didn't even know how to use it. Staying here would only add to her burden. 0

"Alright, just take care of yourself. We'll head back first..." With that, I bid farewell to Hu Fang and Li Zhisheng before getting up to go home. 0

The journey was silent. Upon returning home, I found Death Apostle and Yao Long had just prepared some food and were eating. When they saw us come back, Yao Long called me over to join them, but I politely declined, telling him I had already eaten. I poured myself a glass of water and sat down on the sofa alone, while Hu Fang went straight to her room without a word. I wondered what she was doing; perhaps she was just tired. 0

After finishing their meal, Death Apostle walked over to me and asked, "Shen Xu, what's wrong? Did Li Zhisheng's condition worsen? You look completely drained." 0

I glanced at Death Apostle and recounted the events from the hospital along with my speculations about Li Zhisheng. 0

Upon hearing this, both Death Apostle and Yao Long looked surprised. Death Apostle sighed, "I thought this was an important lead, but it turned out to be a dead end. However, if your speculation is correct, at least we've gained some crucial information..." 0

I looked at Death Apostle in disbelief. "A person has died, and all you care about is the lead?!" 0

Seeing my anger, Death Apostle replied, "It's not that I lack compassion, but I never met that person. Why should I feel sympathy? Besides, there are hundreds or even thousands of people dying every day in this world. If I mourned every single loss, would I still be able to live? Think about it—if you died, how many people would truly mourn for you? Aside from your parents and us who have shared hardships together, would there be anyone else? So don't take life and death too seriously; what matters is what you contribute to this world while you're alive." 0

After listening to Death Apostle's calm words, I felt he had a point. However, humans are emotional beings. The death of someone completely unrelated might not matter much. But when someone who had once helped me passed away without me feeling any sorrow at all—that would be truly heartless. 0

"Regardless of anything else, that girl did help Li Zhisheng and provided us with important clues. It wouldn't be too much for me to feel a bit sorry for her; besides, she was indeed pitiful." 0

"Alright, enough of that... Let me show you something," he changed the subject and pulled out several photographs from his pocket, handing them to me. "I intended for Yao Long to investigate the matter regarding Hu Fang's Void Spirit today but ended up discovering this instead." 0

I took the photos and looked them over. There were three in total, dated 1985, 1987, and 1999 respectively. The backgrounds varied in each photo but were all taken in desolate Mountain areas; none were set in a city. What was consistent was that each photo featured only one person. 0

I held three old photographs, carefully comparing them... Finally, I was astonished to discover that the person in all three photos was the same. Over the span of more than a decade, this individual had not changed at all. 0

The more I looked, the more familiar he seemed. A chill ran down my spine. "Is this... Gu Kai?!" I exclaimed, pointing at the person in the photo and asking Death Apostle. 0

Death Apostle nodded. "At first, when I heard that Gu Kai was an immortal who never aged, I had my doubts. But now, seeing these three photos, I have no doubt!" 0

"Is it possible that these photos were faked? Yao Long, where did you find these pictures?!" I questioned Yao Long. 0

Yao Long remained calm. "When I first brought back the photos, Mr. Death questioned me in the same way. I found these photos when I sneaked into that amusement park before. Many areas there have turned into ruins, but the basement you mentioned earlier was exposed. Although it was sealed off by the police, I managed to find a way in." Yao Long seemed a bit proud. 0

"I thought since Hu Fang was implanted with Void Spirit there, there must be some clues hidden below. However, to my surprise, all the clues were gone; it seemed all evidence had been destroyed by Yang Master’s people. I stumbled upon these three photos in the ruins and brought them back." 0

After hearing this, I murmured to myself, "It seems we are entangled in something terrifying. I think it’s no longer just about Yang Master wanting power; there must be something else hidden behind this. And what does Gu Kai want... What is his connection to Yang Master..." 0
