"I've been infected? How is that possible?" Li Zhisheng exclaimed, pulling up his sleeve to inspect his arm, seemingly trying to find signs of the "infection." Just then, the Death Apostle behind him lunged at his own arm, ready to bite. I quickly turned around to block him and said, "You need to help me restrain the Death Apostle first; I'll explain everything later!" 0

I held down the struggling hands of the Death Apostle, and seeing this, Li Zhisheng stepped forward to assist. Together, we lifted the Death Apostle onto the bed and twisted the bedsheet into ropes, securely tying his hands to the headboard. 0

With the Death Apostle now unable to harm himself, I finally felt a sense of relief. Sitting on the edge of the bed, I addressed Yao Long and Hu Fang, who stood warily nearby. "Now Li Zhisheng, the Death Apostle, and I have all been infected. Please avoid contact with us as much as possible, just in case..." 0

Upon hearing this, they both looked somewhat lost, especially Hu Fang. She stood frozen in place, staring blankly at everything happening around her. In a low voice, she asked, "What... what can I do to help you?" 0

I replied, "You two should guard the windows; one of you take position by the door. If you notice anything unusual, let me know immediately." Hu Fang nodded in response and walked straight toward the window. 0

At that moment, Yao Long asked, "What about Mr. Death? Is he in danger?" 0

"He should be fine. If I'm not mistaken, he will recover naturally when the time comes. Right now, I can't find any other way to make him recover immediately, so we just have to wait..." Yao Long seemed worried but understood there was nothing else to be done; he moved over to the door and waited patiently. 0

"Can you tell me what's going on now?" Li Zhisheng said as he glanced at the Death Apostle lying on the bed with a twisted expression. 0

I answered, "If my judgment is correct, this illness transmits when it manifests in someone who touches another person. In other words, when I fell ill earlier and you touched me, there's a high chance you've been infected too. The Death Apostle was infected because he came into contact with me while I was unwell in the car. As for how I got infected... well, that's another story." 0

After finishing my explanation, I furrowed my brow. Even though I understood that this thing could spread, it didn't change much because there were definitely more than just three of us infected now; there was also that doctor who had helped that girl in the hospital. If this Demonic Mark were to spread further, it would lead to an unimaginable disaster—more people would die as a result. 0

At that moment, after considering my words for a moment, Li Zhisheng said thoughtfully, "Since I've been infected too, should I be tied up as well..." He extended his hands towards me, indicating that I should bind him too. 0

I pondered for a moment before responding. "It shouldn't be that urgent. Look at the Death Apostle; he was infected yesterday but only showed symptoms today..." 0

Before I could finish my sentence, Li Zhisheng's hands suddenly went limp at his sides. His eyes began to glaze over as he muttered something under his breath. 0

Seeing this unfold made my heart sink—Li Zhisheng really had succumbed to the infection! But why was it happening so quickly for him when the Death Apostle had taken longer? 0

Thinking about it, I didn't hesitate for long. While he was still calm, I quickly dragged him to another bed and tied him down using the same method as with the Death Apostle. 0

At both ends of the room, Hu Fang and Yao Long noticed and said, "What's going on? Is Li Zhisheng having an episode too?" 0

"Yes..." I replied, then murmured to myself, "I just don't understand why he's having an episode so soon. Could it be that he was infected earlier? That can't be right; if he had been infected before, he shouldn't have waited until now to show symptoms..." I was baffled. 0

Hearing my words, Yao Long chimed in from the side, "Could it be that this place is the source of the disease, so the closer you are, the faster you get sick?" 0

"Yeah, that seems quite possible..." 0

Before I could finish my thought, Hu Fang nervously turned to me and said, "Shen Xu, come quick! Someone else is coming out!" 0

Upon hearing this, I quickly made my way to the window. I saw two figures emerging from an open door. In the dim moonlight, I could vaguely make out that it seemed to be a man and a woman. They walked side by side and stopped when they reached the Old Woman who was still gnawing on herself. 0

The couple looked at the Old Woman in front of them and suddenly grabbed her head. Like crazed wolves, they lunged at her and began to bite into her flesh. 0

"This doesn't seem right. Why do these two look like they're actively attacking? Aren't they supposed to avoid harming others? Am I missing something?!" I thought as I stared intently at the horrifying scene below... 0

Moments later, the Old Woman's head was twisted off and tossed aside, blood splattering everywhere... In less than half a minute, her corpse was gnawed down to reveal white bones, which stood out starkly under the moonlight. 0

Seeing that there was no more flesh left on the Old Woman's body, the couple turned around and sat facing each other. Suddenly, they embraced and began to bite into each other. 0

"This doesn't make sense. Why are these two not harming themselves but instead attacking each other..." At some point, Yao Long had also crept up behind me, stretching his neck to look down. 0

"Do you think something's off too?" I asked. 0

He nodded, "Yeah, this is quite different from what you told us." 0

As he spoke, the two people downstairs who were gnawing at each other had already collapsed on the ground, seemingly having lost their strength due to excessive blood loss. At that moment, a shadow approached from a distance. Judging by its shape, the shadow appeared to be a person, standing about six feet tall, of average build—not too fat and not too thin. 0

"Come quickly, someone else is coming..." Hu Fang's voice was somewhat loud, as if it carried through the window. Just then, the shadow seemed to hear Hu Fang and lifted its head to look in our direction. 0

In that instant when it raised its head, I realized that the shadow truly was just a shadow; it had no facial features and lacked any other physical characteristics. 0

Realizing we had been discovered, Yao Long and I instinctively moved aside to hide next to the window, only slightly peeking out. However, when I looked back at the shadow, it had already vanished without a trace. 0

I hurriedly scanned outside the window but found no sign of it. "Hu Fang, where did the Demonic Mark go?" I whispered to her. 0

Hearing my question, Hu Fang turned her head. At that moment, her eyes widened in terror as she looked at me and pointed with a trembling finger, her voice shaking, "It's... it's right behind you!" 0
