"Actually, you might not have awakened the Void Spirit, so you can't see it. When we were killing that Evil Spirit just now, a large number of Vengeful Spirits that it had previously consumed escaped from its body. I believe if you record this in your notes, it will definitely help eliminate some of the marks," Li Zhisheng explained.
After hearing this, although I still wanted to understand the whole situation clearly, considering that I couldn't use the Void Spirit and that the talisman had already been used, I realized that pressing on recklessly could put both Yao Long and Li Zhisheng in danger. Moreover, Yao Long was already injured; if we insisted on investigating further and encountered something even more dangerous, it would be a waste of our lives.
Thinking this over, I hesitated for a moment and said, "Well, since this matter seems to have been mostly resolved, there's no need for us to complicate things further. Let's head back first and see if there really are a lot of Vengeful Spirits as you said. If the numbers are still insufficient, we can always come back later."
Upon hearing this, both Li Zhisheng and Yao Long nodded in agreement. We then began to retrace our steps.
As we walked, I felt like we had been walking for quite a while but still hadn't seen the main entrance to the Cemetery. "Could it be that we've unknowingly lost our way in the darkness?!" I wondered to myself.
At that moment, Li Zhisheng voiced his confusion as well. "Shen Xu, don't you feel something is off? It seems like we've been going in circles."
Just as Li Zhisheng finished speaking, a strange cry echoed from a distance. A white-clad ghost that we had seen earlier suddenly appeared in the light of our flashlight, lunging at me with its insect-like appendages.
Seeing this, Yao Long reacted quickly. He swiftly drew his Azure Spirit from behind him and quickly conjured a crimson arrow on the bowstring before releasing it with a whoosh.
Before the ghost could reach us, Yao Long's swift arrow struck it and sent it flying. But he didn't stop there; he shot three more arrows in quick succession. As the arrows disappeared into the darkness, we heard the ghost's anguished wails echoing in the distance until they faded away into the night, seemingly completely vanquished by Yao Long.
"It’s not that we seem to be going in circles; we have been spinning in place all along and never left!" Yao Long said with a furrowed brow as he pointed at the wall behind us.
Following his gesture, I looked back and saw not far behind us a tall wall with a two-person-high hole—exactly where that giant-faced monster had crashed through earlier.
"Oh no! Have we encountered a Ghost Wall?!" I said anxiously.
Li Zhisheng glanced around nervously. "If nothing unexpected has happened, then yes. It seems these ghosts don’t want us to leave..."
I thought for a moment and replied, "Isn't the Ghost Wall created by some ghosts? We experienced it once at the amusement park, and that time it disappeared as soon as those ghosts were killed..." Turning to Yao Long, I asked, "Yao Long, do you have any way to clear out all those ghosts in the darkness?"
Yao Long listened but did not respond. Instead, he took a deep breath and exhaled slowly, then closed his eyes, holding the Azure Spirit in his hand as if he were sensing every movement around him.
After a moment, the Azure Spirit in his hand suddenly ignited with blue flames. Yao Long swiftly raised his bow and shot out a series of azure arrows while softly counting, "One, two, three, four, five..."
With each arrow released, the anguished screams of the Evil Spirits echoed through the air. Li Zhisheng and I stood frozen in place, our eyes wide with disbelief as we watched Yao Long rapidly firing arrows.
In the blink of an eye, Yao Long had counted up to twenty but showed no signs of stopping. The arrows continued to rain down like gunfire all around.
After a long while, Yao Long slowly lowered the Azure Spirit. He let out a long sigh and said softly, "Not a single one left; they're all dead..."
At that moment, Li Zhisheng and I were stunned by Yao Long's incredible insight. We couldn't help but give him a thumbs up, exclaiming, "That's amazing! Where on earth did you learn to do that?"
Seeing our astonishment, Yao Long smiled slightly. "It's instinct..." He then looked around and added, "The ghosts in the area have all been eliminated. Let's see if there’s still a Ghost Wall."
With that, he began walking forward, and we followed closely behind.
Before long, dim yellow streetlights began to appear before us. They were not only faint but flickered on and off. Next to a nearby wall stood the entrance to a Cemetery; it seemed the Ghost Wall had indeed vanished.
Seeing this, I sighed in relief. "Thanks to the Death Apostle's cleverness! If he hadn't sent you here, we might have been trapped inside."
Yao Long replied, "Mr. Death is always quite perceptive about these matters. Most of the dangers he senses tend to come true. So even though I wanted to stay home and protect him, I still followed his orders..."
"That's truly impressive..." For some reason, I felt a surge of admiration for him.
After that, we didn't say much more and continued along the main road until we reached a busier area. We then hailed a cab and headed home.
As we returned home, it was already midnight. The moment I stepped through the door, I noticed that Hu Fang and Death Apostle were still awake, sitting on the sofa waiting for us.
As soon as we entered, Death Apostle spotted Yao Long's injury and rushed over, concerned. "What happened? Did you run into a tough opponent? Or did you underestimate them?!"
Seeing that Death Apostle was about to blame Yao Long, I quickly explained, "No, it's not his fault. He got hurt while trying to help me and Li Zhisheng. If it weren't for us, he wouldn't have been injured at all..."
Before I could finish, Yao Long raised his hand to interrupt me. "Don't take the blame for me. It was my own carelessness that led to this. It's nothing serious, just a little scrape..."
Yao Long then slowly began to unwrap the blood-soaked bandage from his arm and rolled up his sleeve. As he did, I caught sight of his wound and couldn't help but gasp in shock.
On his arm, there was a wound about ten centimeters long, from which protruded what looked like insect-like appendages. They twitched incessantly, sending chills down my spine.
At that moment, Hu Fang, curious about our gathering, leaned in closer. However, when she saw the appendages growing from Yao Long's arm, she let out a terrified scream involuntarily...
