Then, Yao Long began to tell his story...
According to him, when he inquired about the centipede-like mark on his body, he heard a rumor. Once upon a time, in a remote mountain village, there lived a family of three: a couple and their daughter. Despite the village being relatively isolated and poor, the family lived happily.
One day, the daughter fell for a young and handsome Buddy in the village. Whenever Buddy worked in the fields, she would bring towels and water from home, caring for him meticulously as she wiped his sweat.
At first, the girl thought her actions would touch Buddy's heart, but contrary to her hopes, Buddy only regarded her as a good friend and soon became involved with another girl who was even more beautiful.
Seeing this, the girl was heartbroken and spent her days in tears. However, later on, she learned about Gu Technique and discovered that it could enchant people's hearts. Thus, she decided to study Gu Technique to win back Buddy's affection.
Day after day, she searched for Gu Poison, traveling to many places and trying various methods. Yet nothing worked; instead, she developed horrifying sores all over her body, transforming her into a living monster.
But she did not lose hope and believed that if she could find a specific Gu Technique, she would surely win back Buddy...
After some time had passed, her efforts finally bore fruit. The girl found the formula she had been seeking and confirmed its authenticity through experimentation.
However, the subjects of her experiments were none other than her own parents. Having been exposed to Gu Technique for so long, the girl had lost her humanity and become beast-like.
Watching her once harmonious family crumble due to Gu Technique brought her no remorse; instead, she felt joy because she knew this way she could finally have the person she longed for.
After her parents eloped with others, she prepared a new batch of Gu Poison and on a dark and stormy night, secretly added it to Buddy's food.
At that moment, the girl was filled with delight, eagerly anticipating that once Buddy fell under the influence of Gu Poison, he would rush into her arms. Little did she know that this Gu Poison only temporarily induced affection towards her and made him obedient. Afterward, it would cause the victim to lose all rationality completely, turning them into a crazed beast that would kill anyone in sight...
The next morning, as usual, the sun rose. There came urgent knocking at the door of the girl's house—strong and rapid knocks that clearly came from a man's hand.
Startled awake by the knocking sound, the girl joyfully ran out of her room. In the sunlight, her face resembled a puddle of mud, exuding an unbearable stench while swarms of buzzing flies circled above her head.
"Who's there?" the girl asked at the door, though she already had an answer in her heart; she just wanted to hear it from him.
"It's me!" came a cheerful reply from outside.
Upon hearing this, the girl eagerly pulled open the wooden door. At that moment, a young and handsome man appeared before her, dressed in simple cloth garments and wearing a pair of grass sandals that were coming apart at the seams. Despite this, his striking features could not be concealed.
"What brings you here?" she asked shyly, but her face betrayed none of the charming demeanor one might expect from a bashful girl; instead, it only made her seem more distant.
The young man, however, seemed unfazed, as if standing before a celestial beauty. "I... I missed you!" he exclaimed, rushing forward to embrace her and kiss her passionately. His lips quickly became smeared with the pus flowing from her face, but he paid no mind as he pushed her into the room.
At that moment, the girl felt happiness and fulfillment; she even thought that dying at that moment would leave her without regrets.
Suddenly, the poison from his body erupted. Dark venomous insects began to crawl out of him, wrapping around the two entwined figures in an instant. The young man lost control and began to bite at the girl relentlessly.
In that moment, screams echoed through the secluded mountain village, resembling the heart-wrenching cries of a nightingale.
Later, when villagers noticed that the girl's door was ajar and foul odors wafted from within, curiosity led them inside. They discovered two skeletal remains that had been gnawed upon by gu insects.
At this point, Yao Long paused and sighed softly. "I don't know much about the details of this story; most of it is hearsay. Whether you believe it or not, it's just a story."
"That woman was so foolish! There are plenty of fish in the sea; why cling so desperately to one man? In the end, she left nothing behind and caused the death of her beloved..." Hu Fang remarked from the side.
"Love can be unclear; some people become so obsessed that they go mad. It can turn into a pathological emotion. Yao Long's story seems to illustrate this," Li Zhisheng lamented.
