"Yao Long..." I whispered involuntarily. 0

In the distance, Yao Long stood there, wooden and unmoving, his dark "armor" shimmering with an eerie Black Light. "Old Woman, has Yao Long really broken free from the control of the Worm King?" I asked the silent Old Woman beside me, confusion evident in my voice. She seemed equally perplexed, staring in shock at Yao Long in the distance. 0

After a moment of silence, Old Woman spoke up, "I'm not entirely sure about the current situation either, but judging by his expression, it seems he has indeed broken free from the Worm King's control. However, it's also possible that the Worm King is preparing for another attack. We can't be certain of anything right now, so we should remain cautious." 0

Thinking it over, I shouted towards Yao Long, "Are you okay?!". I kept a wary eye on him from afar. 0

He did not respond, continuing to stand there with his head lowered, showing no intention of acknowledging me. Just when I was at a loss for what to do, suddenly Yao Long lifted his head and then lunged forward. Before I could react, he appeared before me and the Old Woman with lightning speed. 0

Seeing this, both the Old Woman and I instinctively took a few steps back. "Yao Long... are you... okay..." I asked cautiously, gripping my Jiang Ling tightly and staring intently at the expressionless figure of Yao Long, who now emanated a terrifying Killing Intent. 0

"Stay calm; it's best not to approach until we understand the situation," Old Woman whispered, extending her hand to shield me behind her, signaling me not to act recklessly. 0

As we stared fearfully at Yao Long, he slowly raised his head and opened his deep black eyes that lacked any white. With a hint of pride in his voice, he said, "I'm fine now." 0

He lifted the hand holding the Azure Spirit, glancing at the dark "armor" wrapped around his arm, seemingly pleased with his new appearance. 0

"Are you really okay...?" I asked in astonishment. 0

Hearing my voice, Yao Long turned his gaze toward me and said, "Don't worry; I'm no longer who I used to be..." Before he could finish his sentence, his expression suddenly froze. At this moment, the Old Woman quickly grabbed my clothes and pulled me back a few steps, her voice urgent and anxious: "This is bad; your friend may not have completely broken free from the Worm King's control..." 0

As soon as she finished speaking, Yao Long's body began to tremble violently. The Azure Spirit slipped from his grasp with a loud thud as a sound resembling cracking bones echoed from him. Along with a series of sharp noises, fear gradually crept onto his previously stiff face. 0

"It seems that he is not losing his mind due to the Worm King controlling him again, but rather some force within him is continuously inflicting immense pain on his body," I thought, turning to the Old Woman beside me. "No, it appears he is not under the control of the Worm King; instead, it seems that the Worm King is having some sort of effect on his body." 0

As soon as I finished speaking, before the Old Woman could respond, I noticed that the scales of the "armor" on Yao Long were gradually cracking, accompanied by the sound of bones fracturing. The dark scales began to peel away from his body, and an expression of extreme pain and agony twisted across his face. 0

Seeing this, I turned to the Old Woman and asked, "What’s wrong with Yao Long? Is he in danger?!" My voice was filled with anxiety and unease. 0

After a moment of contemplation, the Old Woman slowly replied, "If I’m not mistaken, the power of the Worm King within him should be gradually dissipating. In other words, he has managed to overcome it." There was a hint of surprise in her words, but her expression revealed a glimmer of joy, as if she had seen hope. 0

"Really?!" I exclaimed with delight. The Old Woman did not answer further but gently nodded in acknowledgment. With that reassurance, I steadied myself and retracted the power of the Void Spirit within me. 0

As the power faded, I felt my body grow heavy; a wave of fatigue suddenly washed over me. My legs weakened, and I nearly collapsed onto the ground. 0

"It seems that my strength has indeed been overexerted," I muttered to myself, using my hand to brace against a nearby rock just to keep myself upright. 0

At that moment, in front of me, Yao Long continued to tremble uncontrollably. Most of his scales had already shed, revealing a layer of smooth and dark "armor" beneath. 0

However, due to the pain, Yao Long had fallen to the ground, writhing in agony. His throat emitted horrific cries that echoed through the valley, tightening my heart with each sound. 0

Watching Yao Long struggle on the ground made me want to help him, but I had no idea what to do. In a moment of panic, I hurriedly asked the Old Woman, who was also watching Yao Long, "Are we really just going to stand here and watch?" 0

The Old Woman sighed softly, her brow furrowed. "This is a path he must take. If he wishes to use the power of the Worm King again in the future, he will have to endure this same pain once more. If he cannot withstand this level of suffering, then the power of the Worm King will undoubtedly be a tremendous burden for him..." 0

As she spoke, all of Yao Long's "armor" finally fell away, revealing his previous clothing and his naturally bronze skin. His body lay still on the ground; it was unclear whether he had succumbed to exhaustion or lost consciousness from pain. 0

I hurriedly bent down to check on Yao Long's condition. He lay on the ground with his eyes tightly closed, sweat pouring from his forehead, and his expression still showed signs of pain. I reached out to feel for breath near his nose and confirmed he was still alive. I softly called out his name a few times, and it became clear that he was indeed unconscious. 0

"He's still alive!" I turned my head to speak to the Old Woman behind me. Upon hearing this, the Old Woman stepped forward to examine Yao Long on the ground. "He should be fine; after some rest, he will recover." 0

With that, the Old Woman spread her translucent wings behind her and lifted both me and Yao Long effortlessly into the air, flapping her wings as she carried us upward. 0

I couldn't help but feel a bit surprised. A woman so old could possess such strength; it seemed that this Gu Technique had a strengthening effect on the body. 0

As I pondered this, we flew above the house where we had been earlier. Just as the Old Woman began to descend slowly, I suddenly felt my body sink downwards, and then all three of us crashed heavily onto the ground… 0
