"Hidden in the picture?!" I hurriedly flipped to the back of the book to examine the two versions of the Nine Star Diagram. No matter how I turned it around, I still couldn't discern any clues. 0

"There’s nothing here at all..." I muttered. 0

"Maybe it requires a specific method to understand, like those encryption techniques you see in detective stories—like splashing water on it, or using fire, or tracing with a pencil..." Li Zhisheng seemed somewhat skeptical. I couldn't tell if he was still dazed from just waking up from his coma or if he was joking. 0

"Are you crazy? This is the only copy of the book! If you use those methods, wouldn’t it be completely ruined?! If we could find clues from it, that would be one thing, but if not, we’d lose an important lead! Plus, we might need to use it as leverage in a critical moment..." 0

Seeing my anxiety, Li Zhisheng explained, "I’m not joking! If you really want me to do that, I wouldn't dare! After all, it's an ancient book." 0

After hearing this, I set the book aside and sighed. "What time is it? You still have the energy to joke... Do you feel any better now? Is there anything uncomfortable?" 0

"No, I'm much better. But what happened to you...?" 0

I looked down at myself and saw that my clothes were already tattered from entering that collapsed cave; I looked like a beggar. 0

"Ah, it's a long story... I'm going to change clothes. You guys keep an eye on Hu Fang..." With that, I picked up the Divine Anomalies Classic: Nine Star Life and Death Diagram and headed back to my room. 0

After a while, I put the book back in its place and changed into some fresh clothes. After tidying myself up a bit, I returned to the living room. By then, Yao Long and Li Zhisheng had cleaned up the glass shards that Yao Long had kicked earlier. They were sitting on the sofa while Yao Long recounted our experiences in that remote mountain village to Li Zhisheng. 0

I walked over but didn’t interrupt Yao Long. Instead, I quietly sat beside them, letting Yao Long finish his story while also taking the opportunity to organize my thoughts about what had happened before. 0

First, we encountered two unknown smugglers on the road. After driving them away, we were attacked by a pack of wolves. Then we ran into those villagers controlled by the Witch, and after that, we fell into their trap... 0

As Yao Long spoke, I recalled everything that had happened in order and organized my thoughts roughly. 0

"You guys just went out for a bit; how did you encounter so many things?" Li Zhisheng interjected suddenly, pulling me back from my reverie. 0

Regaining my composure, I asked, "What about you? What did you encounter?" 0

Li Zhisheng thought for a moment and replied, "Well, after you left, we didn’t dare sleep. But we were so exhausted that when we encountered those Yang Masters, we were too weak to fight back..." He suddenly lowered his voice and continued somewhat sheepishly, "Then during the fight, I fell asleep and got captured by them..." 0

Hearing this, I couldn't help but give Li Zhisheng a thumbs up, exclaiming, "How big must your heart be to sleep so soundly in such a dangerous situation? That's impressive." 0

"Well, it's not entirely like that..." Li Zhisheng defended himself. "After they captured me, I woke up once in the middle, and I think I heard them say they had to catch the Death Apostle. But then I fell asleep again because I was so tired, until just now..." 0

"So you weren't knocked out by them; you just fell asleep?" I asked in surprise. 0

"Uh, yeah, sort of..." Li Zhisheng seemed even more embarrassed. 0

I shook my head helplessly and glanced at Hu Fang, who was still unconscious nearby, thinking that he must also be sleeping right now. 0

"Then if that's the case, Mr. Death should not be in the hands of Yang Master and his people, and Haoyang didn't deceive us this time..." Yao Long suddenly spoke up. 0

I put away my joking demeanor with Li Zhisheng and focused. "That seems to be the case. At this point, they wouldn't need to deliberately deceive us anymore. If they really captured the Death Apostle, we have no choice but to trade the Divine Anomalies Classic with them. For them, it would be a win-win situation; there’s no need for them to continue hiding things from us. Therefore, we can basically conclude that your old friend Haoyang is not lying to us." 0

As soon as I finished speaking, a slow knocking sound came from outside the door—“knock knock knock”—the sound was dull and steady, echoing in the small room as if it were tapping on everyone's hearts. 0

Upon hearing the sound, everyone held their breath and stared wide-eyed, listening intently to the noise outside. Another three knocks followed—this time noticeably more urgent than before. 0

I thought to myself, "Aside from those present here, no one else should know we are staying here. Who could possibly come looking for us at this hour...?" 0

Just then, a man's voice came from outside. He spoke softly, "It's me! I know you're home; hurry up and open the door..." 0

"Death Apostle!" everyone exclaimed in unison. 0

Yao Long was the first to stand up and hurried over to the door. Li Zhisheng and I quickly followed him. 0

When we reached the door, we saw the Death Apostle standing there with another man—who was none other than Haoyang. 0

"Mr. Death! Are you okay?! How have you been? Have you encountered any danger?" Yao Long asked anxiously while scanning the Death Apostle from head to toe. 0

"I'm doing well, thanks to Haoyang," replied the Death Apostle. 0

Seeing them standing at the door chatting, I quickly interrupted, "Alright, you can talk inside. What do you have to say? Come in." 0

I let them into the house. The Death Apostle looked around and saw Hu Fang lying on the sofa, fast asleep. He asked in confusion, "What happened to her? Did something happen while I was away?" 0

I replied, "She should be fine; she's just sleeping. A lot has happened during your absence. But first, why don't you tell us about your experiences?" 0

Yao Long chimed in from the side, "Yes, Mr. Death, what exactly happened? Why were you taken away?" 0

Upon hearing this, the Death Apostle smiled and pointed to the man beside Ming Jiao and Haoyang. "As for what happened, you should ask him. Thanks to him, I managed to escape a disaster; otherwise, I might really be in danger right now." 0

Haoyang cleared his throat and said seriously, "It was my fault for deceiving you last time. I sincerely apologize..." He bowed deeply to us. 0

He continued, "The reason I took Mr. Death Apostle away without permission is that I discovered that the higher-ups of Yang Master might be plotting something that could endanger the lives of hundreds or even thousands of people..." 0
