"Wait!" Death Apostle said. "You have already betrayed Yang Master. Alone, where do you plan to go? Don't you worry about encountering Yang Master's people again?!"
Haoyang stopped in his tracks, turned around, and glanced at the concerned Death Apostle. "Since you all can't trust me, staying here will only deepen your suspicions, leading you to make incorrect judgments. Rather than that, I might as well leave. Even if I run into those beasts from Yang Master again, so what..."
As he spoke, Haoyang clenched his fists tightly. Due to his excessive force, drops of bright red blood seeped through his fingers and slowly fell to the ground.
At this moment, everyone turned their gaze toward me, seemingly seeking my opinion. Although I had my doubts, seeing Death Apostle return safely had alleviated many of my concerns. My earlier question was merely a deliberate attempt to test this person named Haoyang.
After pondering for a moment, I said, "Stay... You now have a common enemy in Yang Master, and we need to find a way to fight against him. Since our goals align, why not unite against a common foe?"
"Don't you doubt me at all?" Haoyang asked incredulously.
I replied calmly, "It would be impossible not to have doubts. But Mario Zopp once said, 'Keep your friends close and your enemies closer; that way you can understand them better.' If you are my friend, I naturally want you to stay. But if you are my enemy, then I want you to stay even more. So tell me, are you my friend or my enemy?"
My words carried an underlying meaning; I wanted to test him one last time. To my surprise, he responded, "I am neither; to you all, I am merely a stranger..."
With that, he turned without hesitation and opened the door to leave alone. Seeing this, Death Apostle attempted to stop him, but by the time he reached the door, Haoyang had already vanished from sight.
Li Zhisheng remained silent as he watched the scene unfold before softly saying to me, "Regardless of whether he is an enemy or a friend, anyone with feelings would find it hard to stay after being subjected to such suspicion." He patted my shoulder and walked toward the window that Yao Long had kicked in, gazing up at the starry sky.
Hearing his words left me momentarily speechless; I didn't know how to respond. Death Apostle peered out the door for a moment but couldn't find Haoyang's figure. He closed the door with a sigh of frustration. "I really don't know what he should do next..."
Seeing this made me feel as though I had done something wrong. Although they didn't blame me directly, I was inexplicably filled with guilt. "Did I really do something wrong?" I muttered dejectedly.
At that moment, Yao Long, who had been mostly quiet until now, comforted me. "It's okay; if it were me in that situation, I would have done the same thing too. After all, this concerns everyone's safety... Now stop overthinking it; we both haven't had a proper rest lately. Let's get some sleep and not dwell on it."
His words touched me unexpectedly; I hadn't anticipated that such a tough man like Yao Long could show a gentle side. "Alright, let's get some rest," I replied. After saying goodnight to Death Apostle and Li Zhisheng and glancing at Hu Fang who was dozing off on the sofa, I turned and headed back into my room.
Lying flat on the bed, I gazed at the newly spun cobweb on the Flower Board, my mind replaying Haoyang's words. I muttered to myself, "What exactly is this so-called Nine Void Deity? And why has a Supreme Deity suddenly appeared out of nowhere? What kind of terrifying conspiracy lies behind all of this..."
Lost in thought and exhausted from the continuous strain of recent days, I soon drifted off to sleep.
However, not long after I fell asleep, I became acutely aware that I was dreaming, and this dream felt eerily familiar.
"This place is..." I looked around at the pure white space, surprised. Even though I knew I was in a dream, it felt as if I were fully awake.
"Back again, are you?" a voice came from beside me.
I turned to see someone who resembled me standing next to me, yet I could never make out his face. "Void Spirit?!" I instinctively exclaimed.
"Why are you back in this damned dream again?" the Void Spirit asked impatiently, clearly displeased with this place.
"I was about to ask you the same thing..."
"Last time you entered here, what did you do?!"
"Last time?" I recalled. "I think I got splashed with that strange potion and then ended up here. But this time, I didn't do anything at all."
The Void Spirit pondered for a moment and said, "Last time, my power was already depleted and hadn't had a chance to recover. But it seems that after you drank that potion, I suddenly regained my strength... What was that?!"
Hearing this, I finally understood. The box that the Old Woman gave to Yao Long contained a potion that could rapidly restore strength. But why didn't she just tell us directly? Instead, she claimed that the potion could ward off evil spirits?
I found myself confused; after all, that was related to Gu Technique, something I couldn't comprehend at all.
"I don't know, it was something an old woman gave us long ago..." I replied, glancing around before adding, "But this isn't the time to discuss that. Look at our surroundings."
Void Spirit looked around and saw numerous corpses hanging in the air in this Snowy Space. The moisture had long been drained from their bodies, leaving them looking withered and desiccated.
"You've returned again..." That voice echoed in my mind once more, sounding even more familiar and gentle this time.
"Did you bring me to this place?!" I shouted into the air in confusion, but just then, I suddenly realized that at the moment that voice resonated in my mind, I lost my voice again. No matter how loudly I tried to scream, it felt as if I were merely opening my mouth wide, silently howling.
"It wasn't me who brought you here; I'm just responsible for guarding this place. What brought you here is actually yourself..."
"Myself?! But I didn't do anything..."
The voice chuckled softly in my mind, its laughter incredibly soothing and intoxicating. "You haven't done anything now, but what truly brought you here is everything you've done in the past..."
