I widened my eyes in shock. "Li Zhisheng! It's on your shoulder!"
Upon hearing this, Li Zhisheng suddenly turned around and raised his hand to strike his left shoulder. The Evil Spirit, sensing the movement, lunged at Li Zhisheng's bag, attempting to subdue him.
However, it was no match for the Soul Burial within Li Zhisheng. Before it could even touch him, Li Zhisheng caught it firmly in his grasp.
With a powerful motion, Li Zhisheng yanked the Evil Spirit off his shoulder. Meanwhile, the Childlike Evil Spirit on the ground let out a shriek and pounced toward him.
At that moment, with the female ghost in his hand, Li Zhisheng was unable to deal with the Childlike Evil Spirit. I could only watch helplessly as my own Void Spirit was sealed within me, leaving me unable to assist.
Just as the Childlike Evil Spirit was about to leap onto him, Li Zhisheng suddenly lifted a leg and kicked out with lightning speed.
In an instant, a gust of wind followed as the Childlike Evil Spirit was sent flying by Li Zhisheng's kick, dissipating into a cloud of black smoke.
Seeing this, the female ghost froze for a moment before going into a frenzy, wrapping her slender arms tightly around Li Zhisheng.
Li Zhisheng remained calm and looked at her. "You must be well aware of your situation. If you continue to struggle unnecessarily, I will treat you just like that Evil Spirit!"
With that, Li Zhisheng exerted force again, and a mass of black mist rapidly enveloped him. As the female ghost's hands touched the black mist, she was instantly dissolved into another cloud of black smoke.
This time, even the female ghost felt a strong sense of fear. She roared in desperation and struggled violently in Li Zhisheng's grip. But the more she fought, the tighter he held her neck, forcing her to quiet down.
"If you wish to be reincarnated, then answer me one question; otherwise!" Li Zhisheng suddenly intensified his grip on her. "I will make sure your soul is shattered and you can never be reborn!"
Upon hearing this, the female ghost ceased her struggles and stopped shouting, resembling a child who had done something wrong and was being punished. "Why did you attack Hu Fang? Who sent you?" Li Zhisheng demanded sternly.
The female ghost answered in terror, "Yes, yes, it's them. They sent me."
"Who are they?!"
"They released many souls. They told me to come find you and inform you that there is a woman here for me to attack."
Hearing this, I grew impatient. "They? Who exactly are they?!"
"I don't know them, I really don't... I just know they released many Vengeful Spirits in one area, and..." At that moment, I suddenly saw a shadow flash outside the window. Immediately after, a cold glimmer flickered, and with a whoosh, a dagger carrying a talisman flew in through the window.
"No, no, I..." Before the ghost could finish her sentence, the dagger pierced through her body, and in an instant, she was reduced to nothingness.
"Who!" Li Zhisheng exclaimed as he turned and rushed toward the window.
Upon reaching the window, he leaned out to look outside but saw no one. He turned back and shook his head at me. "It seems someone is indeed controlling these Vengeful Spirits from behind."
"Yes, it certainly appears so. And from what that ghost said earlier, it seems this person is likely the mastermind behind the Huifeng Campus incident," I pondered.
"Since they've come looking for us, we can't just ignore this matter," Li Zhisheng said as he slowly closed the window and turned to walk outside.
Just then, he seemed to notice someone standing outside the door. "Did I wake you?" Li Zhisheng called out toward the entrance.
Hearing his voice, I turned to look at the door and saw Hu Fang and the Death Apostle standing there. "You both saw everything," I said as I got out of bed and walked toward them.
"Well, we all saw it," Hu Fang replied. The Death Apostle added, "This matter seems to be more complicated than we imagined. We should have realized this from the moment the Nine Star Diagram appeared."
"There's no use in thinking too much about it now. Let's wait until Yao Long comes back," I said as I walked out of the room.
At that moment, Hu Fang asked me, "Are we still changing rooms to sleep?"
I thought for a moment and smiled at her. "Now that the Vengeful Spirit has been dealt with, if you want to sleep in my room, go ahead. I'm fine with it."
Upon hearing this, Hu Fang muttered softly, "I don't want to. How long has it been since your room was cleaned? It smells; I'd rather sleep in my own room..."
With that, she walked back inside. Meanwhile, Li Zhisheng and the Death Apostle stepped out of the house.
In the living room, the three of us sat on the sofa while a shopping advertisement played on the television. The time displayed in the upper right corner read 1:30.
"Why hasn't Yao Long come back yet? There shouldn't be any problems, right?" Li Zhisheng asked worriedly.
"I'm a bit worried too. After all, this shouldn't be too difficult for him. It's already one o'clock, and he still hasn't returned..." I frowned.
"Don't worry; everything will be fine," the Death Apostle assured us.
Just then, a gentle knocking sound echoed from outside the door—"knock knock knock."
"Look, isn't that him coming back?" the Death Apostle said as he quickly got up and walked toward the front door.
As soon as the door opened, there stood Yao Long at the entrance. After entering the room, he looked at us and said, "What's going on? You guys are still awake this late?"
"Well, we were waiting for you," I replied.
Li Zhisheng, standing nearby, asked, "So, what news do you have?"
"It's like this..." Yao Long walked over to the water dispenser, poured himself a cup of water, and drank it all in one go. "It seems that a strange space has appeared in that area. This space seems to be directly connected to the Underworld, and a large number of Vengeful Spirits have been coming out from there. That space is actually where we used to live."
"Then who opened this space? Was it Yang Master?!" I pressed on.
Yao Long set his cup down and sat on the sofa. "From what I understand, it shouldn't be Yang Master's people because their style of operation is completely different from Yang Master. They seem to be trying hard to prevent these spirits from escaping, even actively stopping it all."
"What?! Could it be that there are two factions involved here? One side opened this space and released a large number of spirits, while the other side is desperately trying to stop it...?"
