"This is not good..." I was about to refuse when Mo Shu raised a hand to interrupt me, saying, "I know you're worried, but I truly have no ill intentions towards you. Whether you believe me or not is entirely up to you."
After hearing this, I didn't respond immediately. After a moment of hesitation, I said, "If that's the case, then fine. I'll leave them in your care. Thank you." With that, I gently patted Li Zhisheng's shoulder. This was clearly meant for Mo Shu to hear, but in reality, it was a signal for Li Zhisheng to be more vigilant.
"You should hurry back and check on things. We’ve been out here for quite a while now. What if something happens at home?" Li Zhisheng said.
"Yeah, I'll head back first. If everything is fine at home, I'll come back as soon as I can." After saying this, I glanced over at Yao Long lying on the other side. He had stopped struggling and was lying calmly on the bed, though his body still twitched slightly.
"I'll take you down the mountain from another path. If we go back the way we came, you might get lost again," Mo Shu said as he turned to lead the way.
I followed closely behind him as we wound our way through another route in the hall until we finally reached the foot of the mountain. At that moment, I realized we were at the base of Yunpo Mountain's steep cliff, and behind us was a cave that was hard to spot but connected directly to the buildings on the mountain.
By now, it was completely dark. I took out my phone to check the time and was shocked to find that hours had passed without me noticing; it was already three in the morning.
"How could this happen?!" I stared at my phone in confusion, muttering to myself.
Mo Shu chuckled softly. "Do you remember how long you all spent in the Soulstone room earlier?"
"What? Does that room make time go faster?" I asked in surprise.
Mo Shu explained, "It's not that it makes time go faster; rather, time inside that room passes much more slowly than outside. So while we were in there, time outside continued on."
"Why..." I started to ask further questions when Mo Shu interrupted me again. "Alright, as for why that is, I'll explain it next time you come by. Right now, don't you have something important to attend to?"
After hearing this, I realized he was right and hurriedly bid farewell to Mo Shu before running off towards the main road, hoping to catch a ride from a passing vehicle.
Not long after I started running, my phone in my pocket suddenly vibrated with a notification sound. "A text message? Is there signal now?" I stopped and pulled out my phone to check. The screen lit up with Hu Fang's text message, and the first two words made me jump: "Help!"
"Oh no! Could something really have happened to them?!" I thought, quickly unlocking my phone and opening the text messages. I saw a message from Hu Fang that read: "Help! Shen Xu, where are you? Come back quickly!" The date on the text was from three o'clock yesterday morning.
A day had passed; what had happened to Hu Fang and the others? Had they already met with misfortune?! Who could it be? Was it Yang Master?! The more I thought about it, the more anxious I became. Without a moment's hesitation, I hurriedly made my way to the main road, pressing the redial button on my phone to see if Hu Fang was safe.
"Please pick up, please pick up!" I muttered to myself as I impatiently waited for the call to connect...
I dialed several times, but neither Hu Fang nor Death Apostle answered. All I heard was the endless waiting tone.
"It seems they really are in trouble, damn it!" I cursed under my breath and without hesitation raised Jiang Ling, plunging it into my chest. In an instant, time seemed to freeze. At that moment, I felt that Jiang Ling was completely different from before; it not only stopped absorbing my strength and blood but instead continuously infused me with a powerful energy.
"What’s happening? What’s wrong with your sword?!" the Void Spirit in my body asked in surprise.
I quickly pulled Jiang Ling out and channeled its power into my legs. "There's no time to explain! I need to go save them!" With that, I didn’t care whether anyone would notice me; I took off running toward the city.
As I raced through the streets, I felt the energy from the sword surging within me as if it were uncontrollable. Although my body could barely withstand this force, the constant surge still caused me great discomfort, making it difficult for me to maintain my balance.
"This power is truly hard to control! Shen Xu, don’t use your strength right now; your body won’t be able to handle it!" the Void Spirit warned me.
"I can’t worry about that now! I just want to know if my two friends are safe!" With that thought in mind, I pushed myself to run even faster.
Once I entered the city, obstacles on the road forced me to leap onto rooftops, jumping from one tall building to another as I advanced.
Before long, I arrived near the outskirts where we rented our house. Looking ahead, I saw that our place still had lights on and the windows were wide open, but all the glass had been shattered.
My heart tightened at this sight. Without hesitation, I leaped high into the air and aimed for the open window, jumping inside.
“Hu Fang, Death Apostle! Are you home?!” I shouted their names as soon as I entered the house. However, the empty room revealed nothing but scattered furniture and shards of broken glass; there was no sign of them at all. The front door stood wide open, indicating that an attack had taken place.
“Yang Master, it must be that damned Yang Master! Only they would do something like this!” In a fit of rage, I slammed my fist against the wall. The force was so great that it created a large hole with a loud bang.
“Shen Xu, I remember you as a rather calm person. What has changed you to this extent?” Void Spirit questioned me from within.
Hearing those words, I slowly began to calm down. I closed my eyes and took a deep breath, trying to maintain my composure as I surveyed the room.
After checking every part of the house, I found that aside from the damage in the living room, all the other private rooms were intact, including my own, which looked just as it had when I left.
“It seems their target is clear; they want to capture Hu Fang and Death Apostle. It’s obvious that only Yang Master would do something like this!”
As soon as I finished speaking, a man's voice suddenly came from behind me: “You guessed correctly; it was indeed Yang Master's people. Your friends have already been taken by them. If you want to save them, come with me…”
