"Who is it!" I quickly turned around, only to see a familiar face before me. "Gu Kai, how is it you?!"
"It's been a while... Void God," Gu Kai replied calmly, holding a Black Soldier in his hand, with a flickering dark green light swirling around it. It seemed he had already summoned the Void Spirit.
"You still haven't answered my question! How did you end up here?" I said cautiously.
But Gu Kai coldly responded, "Looks like it's not you after all. Never mind. I'll ask you one last time: do you want to save your friend?"
Seeing that he was unwilling to answer my question, I lost interest in pursuing it further and coldly replied, "Lead the way."
Upon hearing this, Gu Kai smirked and quickly turned to leave.
Not daring to lag behind, I hurriedly followed him out. As soon as he left the house, he leaped into the air and began jumping across the rooftops. Under the moonlight, a dark green light continuously dispersed behind him.
I followed closely behind. We ran for what felt like ages, having long left the city and now racing through the mountains and fields. The path ahead was unclear, and with our speed much faster than before, my body was already battered from colliding with tree trunks and scraping against rocks.
"It seems your abilities have improved quite a bit," Gu Kai called back effortlessly. However, I was exhausted from the strain on my legs; despite moving quickly, my thigh muscles were painfully swollen, leaving me no energy to respond.
After a moment, Gu Kai suddenly stopped in front of an abandoned Lumberyard deep in the mountains. I followed suit, stopping to rub my thighs and looking around. "Are they here?"
Gu Kai ignored me and suddenly raised his Black Soldier. A dark green ghostly light erupted from the blade as he swung it forcefully.
In an instant, a strong wind surged forth. The dark green power released by Gu Kai swept toward the Lumberyard's entrance like a tornado. The powerful gust shattered the metal doors of the Lumberyard, revealing several figures dressed in black standing side by side before us. One of them extended a hand and deflected Gu Kai's attack.
"You've been spying on us for so long; finally showing yourself!" said the person who blocked Gu Kai's attack.
"Sorry, but I think you've misunderstood. I haven't been spying on you at all; I've been completely above board. It's just that you're so useless you couldn't even sense my presence," Gu Kai replied, seemingly uninterested in explaining anything to those in front of him as he charged forward with his Black Soldier raised.
At that moment, I realized just how powerful Gu Kai truly was. A dark green light flashed past the group of people, and they immediately fell to their knees, their heads rolling.
"What on earth is happening? Where exactly are we?" I asked Gu Kai.
"What’s going on? Just take a good look at what’s in front of you!" Gu Kai replied, raising Black Soldier and swinging it fiercely in the air, followed by a burst of green light.
At that instant, I noticed a massive Red Magic Circle appearing on the ground ahead. It was so large that it could cover the entire Lumberyard.
"This group wants to open a gigantic Underworld Gate here, pulling Vengeful Spirits from the Underworld, even the Bull-Headed Monsters, into the human realm!"
As soon as Gu Kai finished speaking, a voice echoed from a distance: "You are not entirely wrong, but you’re missing something. We intend to bring not just these creatures into the human world, but also the King of Hell!" As he spoke, a Black Shadow slowly approached from afar.
As the figure emerged, the red magic circle emitted a dazzling red light, instantly forming a massive red beam that shot up into the sky.
The beam pierced through the clouds, creating a gigantic vortex in the air.
"Although you have arrived, it is already too late! Come forth, Bull-Headed Monsters of the Underworld!" With that shout from the figure within the beam, robust forms began to appear within it. Among them were several that resembled the Ox-Head we had encountered previously at the amusement park with Li Zhisheng.
"This is not something you can handle right now; step aside!" Gu Kai commanded. Suddenly, he used his free hand to unleash a force akin to an explosive shockwave towards my direction, sending me flying backward for over ten meters.
"Hey, what are you doing?" Just as I regained my footing and was about to question Gu Kai, I saw those robust figures charging out of the red beam directly toward him.
Upon closer inspection, I confirmed that among those figures was indeed an Ox-Head, and not just one. Another type of monster resembled a horse but was covered in sharp spines; wherever its hooves struck the ground, flames erupted instantly.
Seeing the Bull-Headed Monsters rushing toward him, Gu Kai remained calm. He leaped into the air while raising Black Soldier above his head. A brilliant green light radiated from Black Soldier, blinding me momentarily.
I quickly raised my arm, trying to block the blinding sunlight to see what was happening. But as soon as I lifted my hand, a loud boom echoed, and the ground began to tremble violently. A dazzling green light erupted, instantly illuminating the entire area.
"What... what's going on?" In my panic, I struggled to understand what was happening, but the violent shaking of the earth and the pain in my legs made it difficult to maintain my balance, forcing me to leap into the air.
As I soared upwards, I saw that the brilliant light had gradually faded. At that moment, Gu Kai was crouched on the ground, his Black Soldier striking down hard against the earth, creating a deep chasm that seemed bottomless.
Several Ox-Head and Bull-Headed Monsters were shattered by his blow, their bodies scattering in all directions. However, those Bull-Headed Monsters that had not been hit circled around behind Gu Kai, preparing to ambush him.
Without thinking, I shouted, "Gu Kai, behind you!" As I yelled, I quickly summoned the power of the Void Spirit within me and raised Jiang Ling, swinging it upward.
In an instant, a dark Slash Mark appeared. But this strike was entirely different from the previous one; trailing behind the black Slash Mark was a pale You Long that roared as it lunged toward Gu Kai's position.
"Hey! I already passed you; you're no match for me! Don't get in my way!" Gu Kai shouted as he abruptly turned around. He gripped the Black Soldier glowing with dark green light and swept it backward…
