In an instant, I became alert, my ears perked up as I listened intently... 0

After a moment, I realized that the sound seemed to be coming from a room below, very close to where I had previously heard the Bell Sound. 0

"Is this the knocking sound that Li Zhisheng mentioned, in the middle of the night?" I murmured to myself quietly, then slowly got up, preparing to get out of bed. 0

Just as I moved my feet to the edge of the bed, suddenly! An arm shot out from the darkness and grabbed my leg. 0

I was startled and instinctively pulled my legs back, exclaiming, "Who is it?!" 0

I heard Yao Long's voice nearby; he whispered, "Shh~ I heard you call for me, but I wanted to listen to the source of that sound first. Don't rush to get out of bed; it seems like there's something around us..." 0

Upon hearing this, in such profound darkness, the thought that there was something nearby sent chills down my spine. The more one is unable to discern their surroundings, the more fear amplifies within them. Even though I had the Void Spirit by my side, without Jiang Ling, I had no means of defense, and thus the feeling of dread clung to me. 0

At that moment, images of ghosts from horror movies I'd seen before flooded my mind, and I feared that a terrifying face would suddenly appear before me with a chilling voice. 0

"Yao Long, what exactly is around us?" I asked in a low voice. 0

"Ghost..." Yao Long replied softly from the darkness. He continued, "It seems to be right beside us, but I'm not sure if it's because of the earlier surge of power within me that I'm unable to pinpoint its location. However, one thing is certain: it's in our room!" 0

Hearing Yao Long's words filled me with even more dread. I clutched my pillow tightly to alleviate the bone-chilling fear. 0

"What about the Death Apostle? What happened to him? Should we wake him up too?" I asked cautiously. 0

"Mr. Death... he's gone..." Yao Long said, his tone laced with unease. 0

Just then, a faint glow began to illuminate outside. Yao Long warned, "Someone's coming!" As he spoke, the light drew nearer, and I could clearly hear footsteps approaching—heavy ones that sounded like a man. 0

I sat on the bed, holding my breath and gripping my pillow tightly, planning to smash it at whoever appeared if they turned out to be an enemy, hoping to create an opportunity for escape. 0

As I contemplated this, the light reached the doorway. I focused my gaze and saw it was none other than White Gang—the man who controlled the Void Spirit alongside Yao Long. He stood at the door with a candlestick in hand and asked upon seeing us awake, "Are you both alright?" 0

From his words, I sensed a hint of confusion, as if he were testing us. "Is everything alright? What happened?" I replied. 0

Upon hearing my question, he did not answer immediately. Instead, he scrutinized us for a moment before slowly stepping into the room and saying, "Something strange has happened; ghosts have started to appear here. Have you noticed anything unusual?" 0

With the light from the candlestick in his hand, I glanced at the bed where the Death Apostle had been sleeping. The bed was empty, the covers thrown aside, indicating that he had indeed been there but had left for some unknown reason. 0

"There is something unusual; one of my friends is missing. Have you seen him?" I described the appearance of the Death Apostle to him. 0

"No... It's not just your friend; some of my junior brothers are also missing. They might all be possessed by an Evil Spirit." 0

Hearing this, I quickly got off the bed, and at that moment, Yao Long followed suit and said, "What are we waiting for? Let's go find them." 0

"Alright," the man agreed, and we followed him outside. 0

Upon entering the hall, it was pitch black except for the areas illuminated by candlelight; the rest remained shrouded in darkness. 0

"Should we check on your other two friends?" the man turned to ask me. 0

"Yes!" I replied affirmatively and headed toward the rooms where Hu Fang and Li Zhisheng were. 0

Inside, I saw Li Zhisheng and Hu Fang lying on two beds, sound asleep and completely unaware of what was happening around them. 0

"These two are really oblivious; they can sleep like dead pigs even now. Li Zhisheng mentioned hearing knocking sounds at night before; maybe he heard them in his dreams..." I sighed softly. Then I thought about it; perhaps it was better this way. Hu Fang was already anxious enough; if she were to be startled now, who knows how she would react. 0

With that in mind, I tugged at the man holding the candlestick and whispered, "They have Void Spirit and Soul Burial protections; ghosts shouldn't be able to possess them. They should be safe. Let's look for others first." 0

The man nodded in agreement, leading the way with the candlestick as we left the room. 0

With only one candle to light our path, we had no choice but to follow him in search of others. 0

Throughout our journey, Yao Long remained vigilant. We entered a winding passage through a door beside the hall. The surroundings were still eerily silent, with only our footsteps and breathing echoing in the air. 0

The dim candlelight flickered continuously in the narrow, winding tunnel, swayed by the breeze created by footsteps. Such lighting was utterly ineffective, only serving to heighten the sense of dread in the atmosphere. 0

After walking for a while, a large bronze bell appeared before me, hanging in the center of a square room. The yellow-brown surface of the bell was intricately carved with exquisite patterns, but I noticed that those patterns were actually faces of ghosts. The expressions were grotesque and terrifying, with sharp fangs protruding from their mouths, resembling creatures ready to devour someone. 0

"What is this place?" I asked in confusion. 0

"This is just a Bell Room," replied a calm man holding a candlestick beside me. "It's used to remind everyone of the time; it rings once at dawn and once at sunset." 0

"It seems just as I guessed..." I muttered to myself, but before I could finish, a loud "bang!" echoed through the air. Being too close, my ears buzzed painfully from the sound of the bell. 0

"W-what's happening!" I shouted instinctively while covering my aching ears. 0

Just as my words fell, I suddenly felt a chilling gust of wind rush toward me. A wave of coldness hit me head-on, and I knew something was wrong. Before I could voice my concern, a face with blood-red eyes and bulging veins appeared inches from mine. I could even clearly smell the foul gas it exhaled... 0
