As we arrived at the station, we saw Li Zhisheng standing alone outside the entrance. When he spotted us getting out of the taxi, he hurried over and asked, "Did you encounter any danger?"
I replied, "Not just danger; all of us are in peril right now."
"What happened..."
Before Li Zhisheng could finish his question, I interrupted him. "This isn't the time for explanations. I'll explain everything later, but right now we need to leave quickly. However, before we go, there's something I need you to do."
"What is it?"
After saying this, I glanced at Death Apostle beside me and instructed Hu Fang to take him aside. Then I leaned in closer to Li Zhisheng and said, "I need you to pick up a package for me, but it's not for today; it's for a few days from now. You can also bring that Yellow Dog with you."
"A package?" Li Zhisheng looked confused. "What package needs to wait a few days?"
"It's not convenient to explain right now. I'll tell you the details later. Just stay here for now; someone will contact you."
After hearing my words, Li Zhisheng appeared somewhat hesitant. However, Yao Long stepped forward and said, "How about I stay in place instead of Li Zhisheng? After all, I'm already somewhat familiar with Yang Master's aura. Even if I can't defeat them, it would be easier for me to evade their surveillance."
I considered Yao Long's suggestion and realized it made sense. Having him handle this last task would be more secure. But looking at his injuries made me uneasy.
"Don't worry; I'm fine. These wounds aren't serious; I just need a little rest. Following you all would be more exhausting; staying behind would allow me to recuperate."
I understood that Yao Long was trying to reassure me about taking on this task since, although Li Zhisheng wasn't foolish, he lacked the keen perception that Yao Long possessed.
After much thought, I said to Yao Long, "If you're so determined, then fine. You can stay behind, but you must first take care of your injuries and see if there's anything serious."
"Okay, I understand. Mr. Death, please take care of yourselves and find a way to save him," Yao Long replied.
Seeing Yao Long approach Death Apostle, Li Zhisheng looked towards Hu Fang and asked, "What's wrong with Death Apostle?"
"Mr. Death's soul has been extracted; now, what resides within him is not his own soul, but that of a stranger..." Yao Long frowned.
"How could this happen..." Li Zhisheng started to move forward to check on the Death Apostle, but I pulled him back and said, "Don't worry about that for now. Take out your phone."
Hearing this, Li Zhisheng didn't quite understand what I was planning to do, but he still took out his phone and handed it to me. I then passed the phone to Yao Long and said, "Yao Long, listen carefully. Someone will call you when the time comes. Make sure your phone is always on. If you don't have a charger, go buy one; I'll reimburse you later."
"Don't worry, I'll handle it. As soon as I get the information, I'll contact you," he assured.
"Great, then I appreciate your help..." I replied.
Once everything was settled, Hu Fang, Li Zhisheng, and I took the seemingly deranged Death Apostle into the station.
Since it was already nighttime, there were no direct flights to my city. If we wanted to fly, we would have to wait until tomorrow. Taking a bus would require two transfers and a long journey before we could arrive.
Although taking the bus might take longer and be more exhausting, I preferred it over the risk of being attacked by Yang Master if we stayed here another night.
With this thought in mind, I shared my plan with Li Zhisheng. After discussing it, we bought tickets for a bus leaving in just over ten minutes and hurriedly boarded.
Once on the bus, Li Zhisheng asked me, "Can you finally tell me what's going on?"
He glanced back at Hu Fang, who was sitting in the last row with the Death Apostle.
"Actually, this whole plan came to me as a sudden inspiration—a plan within a plan..." I whispered. "Initially, I had you and Hu Fang pretend to split up to get books. The real intention was to let Yang Master's people see this and distract them. During that time, I took the opportunity to buy a fake book."
"Do you remember the note I gave you before we left?" I asked Li Zhisheng.
"I remember. You told me to leave the book in the car and take the bag instead. Then you wanted me to create a conflict with whoever was following me so they would steal my bag," he replied.
"Exactly..." I continued. "The purpose of this was to make Sun Warrior Leader believe that I intended for you to escape with the book. Given Yang Master's cunning nature, I figured he wouldn't be able to guess otherwise. But because of his cleverness, once they found out that you didn't have the book, I used Hu Fang to let them know that the book was still in my possession and that you were merely a 'smoke screen.'"
"My goal was to make them believe that the fake book I handed over was real! As they say, when truth becomes falsehood and falsehood becomes truth."
Hearing this, Li Zhisheng nodded thoughtfully and asked, "So the book is really still in the car? Did you bring it out?"
"This is the most crucial part of the whole plan..." I smiled and said, "I guessed they wouldn't easily believe me, but at least that fake book can buy us some time to escape. As for the real book, I never came into contact with it at all, and it is no longer in that rented car; it has already left the city on its own."
"Left on its own?! Stop beating around the bush and just tell me," Li Zhisheng urged.
"Don't rush me, I'm getting to that... Do you remember when you left, I mentioned that parking was not allowed for long periods in front of the pet hospital?"
Li Zhisheng nodded, "I remember."
"Well..." I replied, continuing, "It was precisely because of illegal parking that the vehicle was towed away. The owner of that car is from the rental company, so when reporting to the police, they would definitely contact the vehicle's owner, which is the rental company. I took advantage of this situation. When I went out to look for books, I contacted someone from the rental company. After explaining the situation to them, I had them retrieve the car and pay the fine first, then send everything from our car to a designated location via courier."
Upon hearing this, Li Zhisheng thought for a moment: "Is this why you wanted me to stay? But that doesn't make sense; isn't this a local courier service? With Yang Master’s connections, I think it would be easy for them to trace this..."
