Moments later, I found myself standing before the King of Hell. At his feet, I realized that I was no larger than one of his toes, and above me, the sound of fierce collisions echoed.
Looking up, I saw the King of Hell using his remaining shattered arm to fend off attacks. On the other side, Xinzhu had transformed into a humanoid form. Although his size was similar to that of an ordinary person, I could vaguely see that there was no muscle or skin on his chest—only two rows of ribs protecting a glowing red sphere within.
"It seems that must be the source of Xinzhu's power, the core of the tomb..." I murmured to myself while gazing upward.
At that moment, whether due to fatigue from battle or sheer boredom, the King of Hell suddenly opened his massive mouth filled with sharp teeth and let out a roar, causing his body to tremble violently.
Because of his enormous size, the ground beneath me shook along with him.
After a moment, I heard the sound of flesh being stirred, and the arm that had been broken and interrupted by the Sun Warrior Leader began to regenerate.
"Enough!" the King of Hell shouted, raising his gigantic arm and swinging it toward Xinzhu at incredible speed.
The strike was so fast that Xinzhu barely had time to dodge and was hit squarely. However, Xinzhu was formidable in his own right; this blow did not inflict any real damage. Instead, he absorbed it and generated a powerful shockwave that nearly sent me flying again.
This scene was not lost on me; even the Void Spirit within me remarked in astonishment, "Shen Xu, don't blame me for reminding you... if you intervene now, you're definitely going to die. This power has likely surpassed battles between Void Gods..."
"I know you don't want me to die, but staying here means I'm just waiting for death..." I replied resolutely, tightening my grip on Jiang Ling while struggling to steady my trembling body. "Are you ready?!"
"You..." The Void Spirit seemed concerned but swallowed his words. Then he shifted his tone and said, "Go for it!"
With that encouragement, I gritted my teeth and leaped into action. As the King of Hell's attack was blocked by Xinzhu, I aimed straight for the King’s grotesque face.
In mid-air, I gathered all my strength and channeled it into Jiang Ling while simultaneously unleashing its power. At this moment, I poured everything I could muster into this strike. Although my strength still paled in comparison to when I activated Hatred before, with Jiang Ling's assistance, it was nearly on par.
The King of Hell had already sensed my presence. Seeing me approach for an attack, he glanced at me with his eyes lined with red veins and scoffed dismissively, "You think you can fight me at your current level?"
With that, he ignored me again and continued to focus intently on his standoff with Xinzhu.
Seeing my chance, I aimed Jiang Ling—now swirling with black and white light—at the center of the King’s forehead and thrust it forward with all my might.
"Can do..." As the Void Spirit uttered those two words, the tip of the sword had already made contact with the King of Hell.
In an instant, a powerful gust of wind erupted from the point where Jiang Ling met the King of Hell, and the black-and-white light spread out like countless blades simultaneously attacking the King.
After a moment of stalemate, I realized that Jiang Ling showed no signs of penetrating at all; not even a single wound was inflicted.
"How, how can this be..." I stared in shock at Jiang Ling, who continued to unleash power before me. A chill ran through my heart, and I suddenly felt that the Void Spirit was right; this emperor of the Underworld was simply beyond my ability to shake...
"Are you done yet?" The King of Hell spoke, suddenly exerting force. With a loud boom, it seemed that Xinzhu was sent flying. Because I was too close, I was directly affected by the shockwave and instantly thrown back.
In mid-air, I felt a sweetness in my throat as a warm stream mixed with blood surged out from my mouth.
"Shen Xu, don't push yourself too hard..." The Void Spirit took control of my body without hesitation and immediately regulated my strength to protect my vital organs, barely managing to hold on.
Once I stabilized myself, the Void Spirit said to me, "With our current strength, we definitely can't harm the King of Hell in the slightest. If you keep pushing like this, it will only lead to your demise. You saw it yourself; the King didn’t even launch a direct attack against us. We were nearly obliterated just from being slightly affected..."
"You’re right..." Taking advantage of the Void Spirit's words, I adjusted my emotions slightly and said, "Perhaps we really have no way out. It seems the King is serious now; Xinzhu is definitely no match for it... Is there really no way out?!"
With that, we hung in mid-air, falling into silence. Looking at the enormous and seemingly invincible figure of the King of Hell before me, despair filled my heart—there were no other thoughts left.
At that moment, Xinzhu, having been knocked back but not severely injured by that last blow, refused to back down upon seeing the King begin to get serious. It suddenly unleashed the power of the souls it had absorbed earlier and continued to draw more souls from the air into its core.
As Xinzhu's power grew stronger by leaps and bounds, it quickly surpassed its previous strength several times over.
The King of Hell showed no sign of panic at this sight; it seemed that Xinzhu was still not enough to instill fear in it.
"Useless..." It lifted its leg and slowly walked toward Xinzhu while saying, "No matter how many souls you absorb, this place will always be mine. Those Vengeful Spirits are like my power. Do you think you can defeat me with my own strength?!"
As it spoke, the King of Hell suddenly stepped back with its right foot. Immediately after, a terrifying force began to rapidly gather in its right hand hanging by its side.
Seeing this, Xinzhu sensed danger and hurriedly stopped absorbing power. It concentrated energy in its hands to form two seemingly small spheres that contained immense energy.
At this moment, I could clearly feel that the power of the two spheres in Xinzhu's hands was comparable to two fierce explosions. If the King of Hell could be struck by its attack, we might just have a chance.
Thinking this, Void Spirit saw through my thoughts and said, "It's impossible. Given our current situation, we can't get close; we'll be turned to ashes by their attacks..."
As I watched the King of Hell's power nearly reach its peak, Xinzhu was also ready to unleash her attack. If what the Sun Warrior Leader said was true, the collision of powers might create another passage back to the human realm. This could be our best opportunity; if we missed it, we might never return.
With these thoughts in mind, I felt a surge of anxiety as Void Spirit tried to dissuade me. "If we want to go back, now might be our best chance! If we miss it, we may never return! I can't listen to you this time!" With that, I intended to reclaim my body.
But Void Spirit immediately suppressed me with his power, saying, "I understand, but given our situation, success is impossible, and it's a certain death. Even so, I'm not without options..."
"What do you mean?" I asked urgently.
"The last resort..." Void Spirit pondered for a moment and said, "This is what I can think of that can ensure your safety while allowing us to return—our final option..."
