At that moment, Yao Long had both hands on my body, unable to free himself to defend. I could see the glinting tip of the knife about to pierce Yao Long's chest.
Just then, in a split second, Sun Warrior Leader standing nearby suddenly grabbed Er Ye's arm, instantly halting him.
Er Ye seemed completely immobilized at that moment, looking at Sun Warrior Leader in astonishment. "Dad, I'm helping you!"
"Mind your own business!" Sun Warrior Leader snapped. He suddenly exerted force on Er Ye's arm and violently threw him to the ground. The knife in Er Ye's hand clattered as it fell.
I watched this unfold and felt something was off. I thought to myself, "Hasn't Sun Warrior Leader lost his strength? How could he so easily subdue Er Ye? Is there something more to this?"
With that thought in mind, I didn't reveal myself immediately but whispered softly in Yao Long's ear, "It seems things have changed. Let's retreat for now; put me down."
Upon hearing this, Yao Long nodded slightly. His movements were subtle enough that neither Sun Warrior Leader nor the fallen Er Ye noticed.
Afterward, Yao Long placed me back on the bed and stood beside me. "What do you want from us? I've already handed over the Divine Anomalies Classic as requested. What more do you want?"
Seeing Yao Long's question, Sun Warrior Leader fell silent for a moment. It seemed Er Ye's actions had caught him off guard as well; even he appeared somewhat flustered. But now that things had come to this point, he had no choice but to continue with the charade.
"Er Ye, you wanted Shen's position, right? It's yours now. Let them go," Sun Warrior Leader said, reaching out his hand toward the fallen Er Ye, trying to help him up.
Seeing Sun Warrior Leader grant him the position, Er Ye had no reason to protest any further. He grasped Sun Warrior Leader's hand and stood up. Brushing off the dust from his clothes, he looked at me on the bed with a barely perceptible cunning expression and said, "Dad has already made the decision; whether you agree or not doesn't matter... However, our business isn't finished yet..."
His last words were spoken loudly as if intentionally, but I still clearly heard every word he said. My heart tightened instantly; I knew that Er Ye wouldn't let me off so easily—he seemed like someone who held grudges easily.
"Alright, Er Ye, you've gotten what you wanted. You can leave now; I need to speak with Shen," Sun Warrior Leader said, frowning.
"Yes!" Er Ye replied respectfully, bowing deeply to Sun Warrior Leader before turning to leave.
Afterward, I felt a bit worried that Er Ye might eavesdrop, so I waited until the surroundings fell silent before whispering, "Did it fail?"
Sun Warrior Leader glanced outside to confirm no one was around, then turned back and closed the door. A relieved expression spread across his face as he spoke, "No, thanks to your cooperation, it seems Er Ye has no choice but to believe now. Moreover, it conveniently resolved your troubles—truly a win-win situation." With that, Sun Warrior Leader let out a long sigh of relief and revealed a smile of satisfaction that I had never seen before.
However, my expression remained somewhat grim as I said seriously, "Was it really as smooth as you say?"
Yao Long immediately sensed something was off from my tone and quickly positioned himself protectively in front of me. I continued, "Didn’t you lose your powers? How could you so easily subdue Er Ye?"
At this, Sun Warrior Leader paused for a moment before hastily explaining, "Er Ye holds me in high regard. Perhaps when I captured him, he subconsciously gave up resisting. Think about it: if you were used to lifting a heavy stone and suddenly found it replaced with an identical piece of foam—though it’s light—your first reaction would still be to perceive it as heavy and use the same strength you would to lift the stone, right?"
Hearing his reasoning made some sense to me, but it still felt off; something seemed amiss, though I couldn't pinpoint what.
Before I could respond, Yao Long interjected, "That doesn’t seem right. Is sensing someone's aura really like lifting a stone? The moment you grabbed Er Ye, even if he didn’t realize it immediately, he would definitely feel it when he exerted himself. Your analogy seems inappropriate..."
Upon hearing Yao Long's words, Sun Warrior Leader appeared somewhat helpless. He shook his head and seemed unsure how to continue defending himself. After a moment of silence, he said, "Whether you believe me or not is up to you; the fact remains and I don’t need to explain further. If you truly don’t trust me, then just leave... However..."
He pulled something from his pocket and walked slowly toward me. Seeing this, Yao Long immediately raised his hand to stop him and asked sternly, "What do you think you're doing?!"
Sun Warrior Leader held up the item in front of Yao Long's eyes; it was a porcelain vial slightly larger than a fist, with its mouth plugged with cotton cloth. It seemed to contain something inside.
"This is a healing medicine I specially prepared for Shen. Although it won't restore his bones, it can help nurture his internal energy and alleviate his pain. Here, take it." With that, the Sun Warrior Leader handed the vial to Yao Long and sighed deeply before walking away with his hands behind his back.
After a moment, Yao Long confirmed that the Sun Warrior Leader had indeed left and asked me while holding the porcelain bottle, "Should we still trust that Old Fox? I find this situation a bit suspicious."
I pondered for a moment and replied firmly, "It is indeed strange, but it seems we have no other choice but to follow them for now. We can go along with their plans and see what they intend to do. Besides, we might find a way for me to recover from them."
"They have a way to help you recover? Then why don't they just tell you..." Yao Long paused mid-sentence, seemingly realizing why I was so certain.
"From what I can gather, the Sun Warrior Leader seems intent on keeping me close for reasons that remain unclear. As for why I'm so sure they must have a way to heal me, it has to do with that Wang Bin..."
"Wang Bin? Is he the one who was with your Yang Master?" Yao Long inquired.
"That's right!" I answered. "Previously, Er Ye stabbed him in the eyes, yet he didn't seem sad at all; he appeared rather accustomed to it. Even if they were subjected to severe abuse or had their legs amputated, no one should get used to such treatment. Any normal person would go mad or even insane in such circumstances, yet he hasn't... which means he knows he will ultimately be fine..."
