Er Ye once again aimed the Azure Spirit at Hu Fang, intending to take her out with this strike.
Seeing this, I struggled to stand up, but due to the chaotic power surging within me, I couldn't maintain my balance. I had to lean against a nearby rock just to keep myself from falling.
"Shen Xu, I know you want to help, but your body right now..." Death Apostle said, reaching out to support me.
"This is my fight. Even if you come to help, there's no reason for you to put yourselves in danger..." With that, I took heavy steps toward Er Ye.
At this moment, Li Zhisheng, Mo Yun, and the young assassin had already reached Hu Fang's side and assumed a ready stance for attack.
"Hu Fang, are you okay?" Li Zhisheng asked with concern.
Hearing this, Hu Fang clutched her injured right shoulder and replied, "I'm fine. It's just that I finally understand..."
"Understand what?"
Hu Fang smiled faintly. "I finally understand the pain you all endured to protect me. Now it's my turn to protect you!"
With that, the flames enveloping her rapidly expanded, followed by a howling gust of wind that pushed Li Zhisheng and Mo Yun away from her.
When I looked at Hu Fang again, the flames around her had vanished, leaving only crimson currents of energy swirling around her.
"Hatred! Didn't she originally lack a Void Spirit? How could this happen..." I exclaimed in astonishment.
Whether it was my voice being too loud or Hu Fang's heightened senses at that moment, she heard my words and turned her head toward me. In a somewhat aged voice, she said, "Buddy, listen to me. I'm not acting for your sake; I'm doing this to protect my granddaughter..."
Before she could finish her sentence, an impatient Er Ye interrupted, "Are you done? You're going to die anyway; why not wait until you're in the Underworld to reminisce?"
Upon hearing this, I shifted my gaze to Er Ye and saw that he had already gathered a dark energy arrow on the Azure Spirit in his hand. As soon as he finished speaking, he shot the arrow toward us.
Seeing this, Hu Fang did not confront him directly but instead sidestepped and charged toward Er Ye with a quick leap.
Getting close, before Er Ye could react, Hu Fang seized his neck and hurled him into the air. At the same time, Li Zhisheng, who had been pushed away earlier, was already gathering a Black Sphere in mid-air, waiting for his moment.
Seeing this situation, Li Zhisheng threw the Black Sphere without hesitation. At that moment, Hu Fang leaped towards Er Ye. Ignoring her already injured right shoulder, she extended her left hand with five fingers outstretched, aiming to stab Er Ye in the chest.
In an instant, a loud explosion echoed as the Black Sphere thrown by Li Zhisheng struck Er Ye first, sending up a cloud of black mist. At that moment, Hu Fang shot through the mist like a streak of blood-red lightning.
As Hu Fang passed through, a spray of bright red blood burst from the black mist, accompanied by Er Ye's piercing scream.
"Did it work?!" Death Apostle looked up in shock at the sky.
I furrowed my brow and tried to sense Er Ye's aura, only to find it had not weakened at all. I turned to Death Apostle and said, "I don't think it's that simple; this Er Ye is definitely not someone you can take down so easily."
As soon as I finished speaking, the black mist in the air was blown away by a gust of wind, revealing Er Ye. He was clutching a mangled arm and laughing maniacally. "Well done! You've got some skills; it seems I'm the one being watched here..." Suddenly, his expression turned fierce as he changed his tone. "Now let me show you why I am called Er Ye... Yin Ye!"
As Er Ye shouted "Yin Ye," the once bright night sky suddenly darkened, as if all starlight and moonlight were engulfed in endless darkness, accompanied by the chilling wails of Evil Spirits and Vengeful Spirits.
"W-What’s happening?!" Death Apostle stood beside me, looking somewhat panicked.
Before I could respond, Er Ye's voice echoed through the air: "This is just the first night, the Night of Utter Darkness. Let's see how long you can last~" He then burst into laughter that seemed to come from all directions, making it impossible to pinpoint its exact location.
"Hu Fang, Li Zhisheng! Where are you?!" Since I couldn't see anything, I could only shout towards where I remembered they were located.
"It seems like just some Vengeful Spirits and Evil Ghosts; it's nothing serious..." Li Zhisheng probably thought it wasn't a big deal, but before he could finish his sentence, a loud crash sounded. It seemed Li Zhisheng had been struck by something and let out a pained grunt.
"What happened, Li Zhisheng?!" I wanted to ask, but just as I did, a similar crashing sound came from where Death Apostle had been standing. Death Apostle didn't even have time to make a sound before seemingly being knocked away.
"Death Apostle!" I exclaimed in shock. "Could it be that Er Ye's move is using our obscured vision to launch rapid attacks?" With that thought in mind, I closed my eyes and tried my best to suppress the surging power within me to sense where Er Ye was.
But at that moment, I realized that the air was filled with the presence of Vengeful Spirits and Evil Ghosts; I couldn't locate Er Ye at all—not even his aura.
"This is bad; I didn't expect Er Ye to have such abilities..." I felt anxious but helpless, forced to endure the piercing wails of Evil Spirits and Vengeful Spirits along with the sounds of crashing around me.
"If this continues, not only will Death Apostle be powerless, but even Hu Fang and Li Zhisheng might not escape!" Just as I was anxiously pacing back and forth in despair, a hand grabbed my shoulder from the darkness, and a familiar voice rang out.
"I knew you would come back; I've been waiting for you for so long!"
"This voice is..." I hesitated for a moment, suddenly recalling that the person must be the Sun Warrior Leader. "Is it you?!"
"Yes, it's me. Er Ye is trying to overthrow me. To protect certain things while waiting for your return, I had no choice but to hide. I was observing you from the shadows just now, but now, the opportunity has come..."
With that, he handed me a Box and continued, "This is the Third Box. I believe you know what is sealed inside. At this point, you only have this one choice; otherwise, if this continues, all of you will be killed by Er Ye!"
I held the Box in my hand. Although I couldn't see its shape, I could tell from the texture that it was no different from the Box that the Sun Warrior Leader had shown me before.
"You... doesn't opening this Box mean that the God King will descend once more?" I asked, feeling a bit anxious.
"Do you still have a choice now?! Forget about your friends dying; the Void God has already completely vanished. If you don't do this, no one can stop Er Ye! By then, who knows what kind of catastrophe he will bring to the world! Moreover, what Er Ye is using now isn't even his strongest power!" The Sun Warrior Leader's tone was filled with urgency.
After hearing this, I tightened my grip on the Box with one hand, gritted my teeth, and placed my other hand on the lid of the Box...
