A cold, human-like lip brushed lightly against Lin Yu's warm mouth. The cool sensation jolted her awake from her dreams. Slowly opening her eyes and adjusting to the dark surroundings, her gaze fell upon a shadowy figure with enormous wings and an owl-like face. Its dark red eyes rolled and glinted with a ghostly hue, staring intently at her from a mere distance. Suddenly startled, an inexplicable fear surged up her spine, causing every pore on her body to expand in alarm. She couldn't help but cry out, "Qiang..." As soon as she uttered his name, she fully awakened from the nightmarish confinement.
The cold air in the room mingled with vague memories of last night with Xiao Qiang and Wu Yi...
"Xiao Qiang? Wu Yi?" Lin Yu shouted. She immediately felt that the environment around her was unfamiliar. This was a small bedroom, furnished very simply with a single bed, two small swivel chairs, and a desk lamp.
Her gaze shifted to the window where light seeped through. Lin Yu had a faint sense that she had been here before. Fixing her eyes on the window, she got out of bed, covering her mouth in a mechanical manner as she moved. Approaching the door, she reached out to test the doorknob; it made a dull twisting sound but wouldn’t budge. Sighing, she looked toward the window—everything outside seemed quiet until suddenly a familiar figure passed by.
"Matt—"
It was indeed Matt. He heard the call from the window and quickly looked down toward its source. "Oh, it's you. How was last night?"
"What is this place?" Lin Yu avoided his feigned concern and got straight to the point.
"DBL6 Experimental Base. What's wrong? Isn't this where you wanted to come?" Matt seemed surprised, though something secretive lurked in his deep-set eyes.
"Matt, where are Xiao Qiang and Wu Yi?" Lin Yu lowered her voice as much as possible. Before Matt could respond, she whispered, "You once told us that if we needed anything, we could find you and you would do your best to help us."
Matt looked puzzled and scrutinized her innocent face with suspicion. After a brief pause, he slyly replied, "Be cautious; take care of yourself first!" With that, his expression darkened and he left immediately.
"What is this? He clearly told us to seek him out when we needed help!" Lin Yu complained in frustration. She stomped her foot and turned to collapse onto the bed, burying her face under the blanket.
"Shh... shh..."
"Who?" Lin Yu questioned sharply, pulling aside the blanket and looking toward the window. A figure appeared at the window, looking frighteningly disheveled, covered in dirt with a face smeared in black grime. His hair was a tangled mess, resembling a pile of weeds. His clothes were in tatters, but that was just one aspect; the key issue was the filth—he was caked in mud... he was threatening her.
Despite the dirt on his face, Lin Yu felt a strange sense of familiarity. She wasn't afraid of him and stared directly at him as she stepped closer to the window. "Are you Old Eye Mask?"
The person outside froze for a moment, seemingly not denying Lin Yu's identification. He nodded blankly and then turned to point at another building, gesturing to her, "Inside—there are corpses—two living people—downstairs—underground."
What did that mean? Lin Yu was stunned! Could the two living people be Xiao Qiang and Wu Yi? Then who were the corpses? "Uncle, please help me get this open."
"Hey! Crazy person, what are you doing over there?" someone shouted at him. He flinched and quickly ran away, leaving Lin Yu unsure of what to do next. The voice that scolded him sounded like Matt—
She desperately pounded on the window frame, hoping Matt would notice her, shouting, "Matt! Matt! Listen to me, we were sent here by you. Please go check on Xiao Qiang and Wu Yi."
Matt approached with a sinister grin, reaching out as if to pinch Lin Yu's cheek. With a nonchalant tone, he said, "Stop yelling or I'll take care of you."
Is this really Matt? Lin Yu felt like crying; her nose tingled with emotion. She forced herself to calm down—internally reminding herself: I can't cry, I must not cry. Gritting her teeth, she put on a childish expression and looked at Matt. "I'm hungry..."
"Stop messing around? If you stop, I'll go get you something to eat," Matt replied before walking away to actually fetch food.
Lin Yu quickly steadied her emotions; she needed to understand the current situation and environment. Last night, Xiao Qiang and Wu Yi had gotten carried away drinking and ended up completely intoxicated. Now she woke up to find herself not in Aunt Zouxia's rented hotel—
She thought hard, trying to remember. The face of Professor R floated into her mind. Yes, he had called them together from the beach to a bar near the coast. Lin Yu frowned as she struggled with the memory; it gave her a headache—
Matt returned with food: rice and egg pancakes, American-style pancakes.
Lin Yu chewed slowly, her mind racing at full speed. Out of the corner of her eye, she glanced at the slightly ajar door, feigning innocence as she threw Matt a flirtatious smile that even she found a bit cheesy.
Matt seemed uninterested in her, yet his gaze was intensely focused on Lin Yu, as if he feared that she might slip away in the blink of an eye.
Only by tapping into her latent energy could she unleash her ultimate power. Lin Yu took a deep breath, looking at the half-eaten plate of food before her. With elegance, she grasped the knife and fork, rhythmically moving them side to side…
She noticed that the movement of the cutlery successfully captured Matt's attention. In a flash, she picked up the plate and hurled it towards Matt, spinning it like a flying saucer.
At the same time, she concentrated her mental energy and suddenly soared—her fingers spread wide, arms vertical—everything in the room began to move in an instant, creating a cacophony of sounds: clanging, rattling, and cracking. Even Matt's facial muscles seemed on the verge of being sucked away by this powerful gust; he felt utterly drained of strength, unable to fight back.
Instinctively, Matt raised his hands to shield his face. His clothes tore like decaying rags in the wind, producing a crisp ripping sound. His arms were exposed, and soon his pants began to shred as well—
“NO… NO…” Matt shouted. If this continued, he would surely end up like a turkey—bare-legged. Lin Yu ignored his cries; her eyes sparkled with dazzling light, and wherever that light touched, dust swirled as objects turned to ashes in an instant.
Fear gripped Matt, causing him to tremble uncontrollably as he begged for mercy: “Stop…”
