Chapter 098: The Wrathful Goddess
The first thought that crossed her mind was that Matt was in danger!
To save Matt, Lin Yu had to get past the two people standing at the door, Wen Kai and Li Hang.
Matt was a prized student of Professor R, someone he had personally trained.
Professor R was inherently cruel; how could he tolerate a betrayal from his disciple? His sudden appearance had startled Matt, who had been frozen in place when he saw the professor, unsure of what to do.
With the professor personally involved this time, Lin Yu couldn't imagine how he would deal with Matt. There were countless ways to die. The biochemical toxins that Professor R researched were not for display or amusement.
As for Wen Kai and Li Hang, Lin Yu knew they must be under some form of neural control, turned into Professor R's puppets. Yes, it had to be that way...
The more she thought about it, the more anxious she became. Lin Yu began to pace back and forth, glancing at the two men at the door, who were watching her like hawks.
For the first time, Lin Yu felt hesitant—Matt was strongly against casually using abilities. If nothing was truly happening and it was all just her imagination, what would the consequences be?
Matt had an antidote for his ability; she had learned about it from Xiao Qiang.
Amy! How could I have been so foolish? Isn't Amy right here?
Lin Yu crouched down in a friendly manner and hugged Amy. She whispered to it, "Amy, go check on Matt..." After saying this, she wondered if the robot would understand her intention—to go in and rescue him or at least assess the situation.
"Amy obeys."
Lin Yu watched as Amy moved closer to the door... Her heart raced. She didn't even dare to blink. Just as Amy got within a foot of the entrance, a barrage of bullets rang out. Bang bang bang! Amy fell to the ground, its arm twitching a few times before its round head was split open.
Lin Yu's mind went blank with a deafening roar; in an instant, she felt the world twist into something terrifying! Tension hung thick in the air, ready to explode...
With a deep breath! Fingers together, she gathered her strength and transformed into the Wrathful Goddess. The incident with Amy became the catalyst for her fury; her eyes shot forth a terrifying light as her pupils darkened. She looked truly fearsome to the two men standing at the door.
They sensed a powerful psychic force in the air, one that seemed capable of destroying everything around it. Objects began to levitate around her, including several tender seedlings she cherished dearly, which suddenly floated silently into the air.
The bullets were utterly ineffective against the Wrathful Goddess. Her psychic energy naturally formed a resilient shield as it surged forth in waves. When the bullets made contact with her psychic barrier, they produced a faint sound before dropping harmlessly to the ground.
Seeing that the bullets had no effect on the Angry Goddess, Wen Kai was furious. He brandished a pair of iron rods with sharp ends, shouting "Ah ah..." as he charged at Lin Yu.
Li Hang extended his finger, which spun like a diamond, elongating as he aimed to pierce the protective shield of the Angry Goddess with his sharp fingertip.
Puff... Hiss... Wow... Thud!
Both Wen Kai and Li Hang had their clothes torn to shreds. They spat blood and collapsed to the ground.
"Wait..." a stern voice came from Matt. He and Professor R rushed out just in time to stop the Angry Goddess from eliminating Wen Kai and Li Hang one by one.
Lin Yu hovered in mid-air, watching Matt and Professor R.
"Xiao Yuzi, calm down. Come down, and we can talk this over," Professor R said, her gaze filled with satisfaction as she looked at Lin Yu.
Matt silently nodded in agreement with Professor R's words.
The murderous glare in Lin Yu's eyes diminished as he slowly ceased releasing his telekinetic waves, quietly landing on the ground. His eyes were filled with sorrow as he rushed towards Amy. "Amy..." Tears streamed down his face.
"You two, get up," Professor R commanded Wen Kai and Li Hang.
The two seemed gravely injured, struggling on the ground without managing to rise.
"Teacher, no matter how good a clone is, it can't compare to the original."
"Of course, I've seen that today," Professor R replied, casting a jealous glance at Lin Yu. She then turned to Matt and said, "Xiao Yuzhou, the waters are deep; everything is changing and becoming more powerful. I hope you..."
Matt understood that Professor R's words held deeper meaning.
Lin Yu was nurturing; she loved all beautiful things. Matt knew how to cater to her affection. He subtly signaled Professor R to remain silent and walked over, gently resting his fingers on her frail shoulder. In a soothing tone, he comforted the sobbing Lin Yu, "It's okay. I'll reinstall Amy for you; she'll be lively and bouncing back in front of you again."
Lin Yu's eyes were red from crying as she trembled and turned her hopeful gaze towards Matt. "Really?"
"I, Matt, promise you. When have I ever gone back on my word?"
"That's true." Lin Yu quickly glanced at Wen Kai and Li Hang, who were slowly getting up, as well as Professor R. Finally, her gaze fell upon a small sapling lying on the ground, its roots exposed without the protection of soil. Deeply remorseful, tears began to roll down her cheeks once more.
"Don't be sad, these are just small matters."
"No, they are alive. They are crying..." Lin Yu swallowed hard as he walked over to support the young sapling, affectionately pressing his cheek against it, whispering softly, "I'm sorry, I..."
The Professor R quietly gave Matt a thumbs up and nodded, saying, "We have to go now. Remember our agreement."
Afterward, Matt told Lin Yu that the Professor R had come here because of Wu Yi.
Wu Yi was indeed a Werewolf. One night, he lost control of his beastly nature and harmed several members of the team. As a result, he was imprisoned by the team leader, but he managed to escape by digging a tunnel with his sharp claws.
The Professor R was here on behalf of the World Rescue Team to apprehend Wu Yi and to check on Matt. Since Wu Yi was a Werewolf, he would want to kill anyone who knew his true identity.
The Professor R was worried that Matt wouldn't be able to handle Wu Yi, which is why she wanted to see if Lin Yu's abilities had improved. In reality, everything was under their control; her concerns were unnecessary.
It was that simple! Lin Yu listened quietly to Matt's account. He thought to himself: Is it really that simple? Are Wen Kai and Li Hang Clones? Is the real Wen Kai there? What are they doing now?
With Amy repaired, the sapling once again received the protection of the soil. Lin Yu stood in place for a long time, gazing into the distance, silently missing her lover Xiao Qiang.
