Standing at the entrance of the cave, a foul stench of decay assaulted their senses. Xiao Qiang and Wu Yi circled in from either side, both possessing eyes that were anything but ordinary. 0

It was an unconscious reliance; Xiao Qiang himself couldn't recall when his eyes had gained the ability to see clearly in the dark. If he were to trace back, it would likely be to the time he had entered the basement alone to escape with Xiao Wu Yi. 0

To him, this seemed like a natural evolution of his physical abilities, so he thought nothing strange of it. However, what happened next was far from what he had anticipated. 0

Wu Yi caught a whiff of a strong blood stench emanating from deeper within the cave. Strangely, this blood stench did not incite any frenzied excitement within him. It felt like a stagnant pool of water, long unmoving, its quality deteriorated and reeking. 0

The cave was deep and dark; perhaps the commotion caused by Xiao Qiang and Wu Yi had disturbed the creatures inside, as a chorus of squeaks echoed around them. 0

They both looked down in astonishment to find layers upon layers of human bones scattered across the ground. Amongst the skeletal remains crawled rats that had fled from nearby houses. 0

Xiao Qiang crouched down to examine the condition of the bones and was shocked to discover that these incomplete remains belonged to the Living Dead. Did these giant monsters consume everything? Not only humans but also the Living Dead? 0

It seemed Lin Yu's speculation that the monsters were created from a C-6 modified virus was unfounded. The monsters were devouring large quantities of Living Dead, and through viral mutation and evolution, they had become what they were now. 0

The stench was overwhelming, making him feel as though his insides were churning. Especially for Xiao Qiang, his stomach was cramping severely, each spasm more painful than the last, making him want to curl up and refuse to take another step. 0

Seeing Xiao Qiang's face turn pale, Wu Yi quickly halted their advance and anxiously asked, "How are you feeling?" 0

"This smell is just..." 0

"It's suffocating. Either you throw up everything or you keep suffering." 0

Xiao Qiang nodded. "Okay." He moved closer to the cave wall and began to gag with his fingers down his throat. As long as he could expel the foul air that had entered his stomach along with any impurities, he would be fine. 0

The further they ventured in, the more spacious it became. Before them appeared a basin resembling a bathtub filled with blood-red water that looked quite unsettling. 0

The Blood Pool rippled gently without wind, while its surroundings remained relatively clean. Other areas were littered with bones; Xiao Qiang continued coughing as he leaned against the edge of the Blood Pool. His gaze swept across the cave's end but found nothing unusual— 0

Wu Yi felt that things were not so simple. He strained to sniff around for any other scents besides blood. 0

At that moment, with a sudden splash, something resembling tendrils shot out from the Blood Pool and swiftly pulled Xiao Qiang down into its depths. 0

From Wu Yi's perspective, it appeared as if Xiao Qiang had lost his footing and fallen into the Blood Pool without realizing it. 0

"Hi..." He was taken aback, rushing to the edge of the Blood Pool. There was no trace of Xiao Qiang; the surface of the pool was calm, like a blood-red mirror, clearly reflecting his own image. 0

How could this be possible? How could such a large person vanish in an instant? Besides, he had the Ability. Wu Yi reached into the Blood Pool, feeling that the liquid inside wasn't real blood, but had a particularly thick and slippery texture. 0

Should he jump in? Wu Yi was frantic, scratching his head in confusion about what to do. Suddenly, with a loud splash, Xiao Qiang emerged from the center of the Blood Pool. 0

His body was drenched in blood-red liquid, as if he had just woken from a nightmare. Instinctively, he splashed the water and gasped for breath while shouting at Wu Yi, "Help me." 0

Wu Yi hurriedly reached out to pull him up. As their hands touched, a wave of intense heat surged through him like an electric shock. 0

"What is this?" 0

Xiao Qiang clung tightly to Wu Yi's hand and was pulled to the edge of the pool with a sudden force. "I don't know either," he gasped as he crawled out of the pool, looking quite disheveled. 0

"You must have been too tired and accidentally fallen in," Wu Yi said as he helped him up, secretly glancing at his own hand that had touched Xiao Qiang's. Damn it, it looked like it had been burned and turned red. He knew there was something wrong with the Blood Pool, but without certainty, he didn't dare make any rash assumptions. 0

"No, I... I saw something that dragged me down," Xiao Qiang said, appearing exhausted. "We need to get out of here quickly." 0

The two supported each other as they left the cave; outside was still pitch black— 0

Xiao Qiang shook his head, feeling like everything he saw was red. Was it daytime? He glanced at Wu Yi beside him and asked, "What color do you see right now?" 0

"Black. Why?" 0

"You see black?" 0

"Yes." Wu Yi thought Xiao Qiang was acting strange for asking such pointless questions. In reality, everything static he saw was green, while moving bodies appeared dark red. 0

"Why are you asking so much? Do you see another color?" Wu Yi smirked slyly and countered with a question. 0

"No, I... just asking randomly," Xiao Qiang replied with a forced smile. "You should hang up the light." His intention for Wu Yi to hang up the light was to avoid raising suspicion from Gui Ye and others. 0

At their base camp, Lin Yu hadn't rested. He didn't even light a lamp; he just sat there quietly while Jianjian slept nearby. 0

Several times, her hand reached toward Jianjian's neck but then quietly withdrew. 0

The guards at Gui Ye were rotating shifts, and from time to time, coarse curses and the sound of harsh coughing echoed through the air. 0

Suddenly, someone shouted that there was a situation. Lin Yu's heart raced wildly as he grabbed his weapon and rushed out. However, he hesitated at the door, reluctant to leave Jianjian behind, fearing that Xiao Qiang would return and there would be no explanation. 0

Due to the tornado, their scent was swept into the Living Dead's lair. A small group of Living Dead caught the scent and stumbled over the mountains, appearing suddenly in front of the patrol checkpoint, startling the guard so much that he nearly dropped his gun and fled. 0

From a distance, Xiao Qiang and Wu Yi heard gunshots, shouts, and the sounds of running. 0

This was bad! Both he and Wu Yi tensed up without needing to say more. They shot forward like bullets, racing toward their stationed location. 0

In truth, the Living Dead had limited abilities; as long as one remained calm and fearless, they could be dealt with easily. Gui Ye could easily handle this small wave of Living Dead, but just the thought of being bitten and torn apart by them filled him with dread. 0

He was afraid, and so were the others, each barely holding themselves together. Someone was bitten and instantly ripped open by a Living Dead, intestines spilling out in a gruesome display that was impossible to control—blood everywhere. 0

"Damn it." Wu Yi arrived, extending his claws to take down one after another with powerful punches. 0

Xiao Qiang's killing intent surged even more; every cold-blooded entity moving in his sight was a Living Dead. He struck with precision, chopping them down like firewood. With a crack, a Living Dead's head shattered, spraying foul blood everywhere. 0
