"You don't need me to tell you what bit him," Xiao Qiang gestured for Chixia to lower her weapon and continued in a probing tone, "You didn't come all this way just to see his corpse, did you?"
The Eagle City Lord's eyelids twitched nervously as he lowered his head, refusing to answer Xiao Qiang's question.
Xiao Qiang turned to Chixia and said, "We should leave. It looks like a horde of vampires is on the way." As he spoke, he picked up a length of rope and, amidst the Eagle City Lord's astonished and fearful expression, bound his hands to an iron pillar.
"Hey, friend, don't do this. They'll tear me to shreds..." At that moment, the Eagle City Lord appeared terrified for his life, a stark contrast to his earlier bravado in the bar.
Xiao Qiang and the cold-faced Chixia moved away from the scene, leaving him to struggle and scream as they headed toward the well entrance.
Seeing them take things seriously, the once arrogant Eagle City Lord looked up at the pitch-black night sky in fear, imagining the terrifying appearance of vampires. The more he thought about it, the more frightened he became; a tingling sensation crept up the back of his head. Suddenly, a gust of wind blew past him. Trembling with anxiety, he couldn't help but plead, "Hey, guys, I... I have something to say."
Xiao Qiang's gaze was icy as he lifted his chin slightly; his sharply defined lips curled into a fleeting smile that vanished instantly. Under the Eagle City Lord's hopeful gaze, he did not stop but continued toward the well entrance...
In a fit of desperation, the Eagle City Lord shouted, "Everything here is thanks to Nalan... There are caves beneath the well entrance..." After saying this, he fixed his eyes on Xiao Qiang, afraid that if he blinked they would disappear. He hoped desperately that this revelation would halt their departure.
Xiao Qiang lowered his head and furrowed his thick brows before responding in an extremely cold tone, "Playing tricks isn't going to work." With that, he took a few more steps forward.
Seeing that they still didn't believe him, the Eagle City Lord felt genuine fear and despair reaching its peak. In a near-hysterical voice, he shouted, "I've told you everything! Please don't leave. Let me go; there are very important things I need to tell you!"
Upon hearing this, Xiao Qiang hesitated and stopped in his tracks.
Chixia also paused at this moment.
The two turned simultaneously to look at the dejected, trembling Eagle City Lord.
Xiao Qiang swiftly drew his dagger, his gaze intense as he stepped closer.
"What are you going to do? No! I'll tell you everything!"
Xiao Qiang remained expressionless as he swiftly cut the bindings that restrained Eagle City Lord's hands.
A cold wind rushed in, and Eagle City Lord rubbed his numb and sore hands, his body trembling slightly. Instinctively, he shrank his neck and swallowed hard, saying, "This isn't a place for conversation. We should leave quickly!"
Xiao Qiang shot him a cold glance and replied, "Speak your mind."
"Dingbao Mountain was introduced to me by Nalan. It is said that a rare virus was discovered in the glacier. I have some skills in piloting, so I secretly went to the glacier with Nalan once. Of course, we were fully armed, equipped with protective gear against toxins, and brought some high-end weapons just in case. Everything went smoothly, and we even brought back a body that wasn't completely decomposed, sealed in a well-sealed iron can."
Xiao Qiang led the way but showed no intention of leaving the Shipyard; instead, he headed down into the well shaft to inspect the workshop.
Eagle City Lord halted mid-sentence, unable to move forward—
Behind him, Chixia pressed the gun against his back. With no choice, he reluctantly followed Xiao Qiang down into the well.
"You said we should leave. Why are we going down to take a look?" Eagle City Lord hesitated, trying to persuade Xiao Qiang not to take the risk.
"Is your memory bad? Or are you pretending to be foolish? You just mentioned that there are tunnels beneath the workshop," Xiao Qiang replied without turning around, coldly throwing out the words.
Eagle City Lord was at a loss for words and had no choice but to descend step by step down the iron ladder. As he lowered himself halfway into the workshop's ground, the light suddenly vanished. The pitch-black space was truly frightening. He had to reach out and grip the ladder tightly, cautiously moving his feet down one rung at a time to continue.
Xiao Qiang held a mini flashlight in his hand and did not stop moving forward. He urged Eagle City Lord, "Say everything you want to say."
"Uh." Eagle City Lord looked apprehensive, his gaze fixed on the faint light emanating from Xiao Qiang's hand. He swallowed nervously again and said, "I have a friend in Guerrilla Military. He heard we found something valuable that could help in military matters and decided to invest a large sum of money to buy the body we brought back from the glacier for research. However, later he told me that the research failed because of an accidental leak involving both the body and some mixture."
"Is your friend R?"
Eagle City Lord seemed sincere as he replied, "No, don't guess; you won't get it right."
Hearing this made Xiao Qiang pause for a moment as he thought: Could it be not Professor R? His brain raced for several seconds before he suddenly realized that among their group of five War Orphans who went to the DBL6 experimental base, one mysterious figure had never shown up.
The mysterious figure is none other than the superior of Professor R. Who is he? Could he be the one purchasing corpses?
"Are you trying to play tricks?" Xiao Qiang turned around, aiming his flashlight at Eagle City Lord's chin.
"Don't be like that, little brother. I don't even know who that Brother is. Every time he comes, it's shrouded in mystery; I've never seen him up close. I remember he was always accompanied by many fierce bodyguards and armed soldiers, but that's all I know."
"How do you communicate and transfer goods? How do you get paid?"

"So you've been supplying them with the virus source all this time?" Xiao Qiang's tone grew heavier, filled with resentment. Eagle City Lord replied, "Yes."
"Tell me the location of the cave." Xiao Qiang did not continue to press for information about the mysterious figure; he believed that one day the truth would come to light. At least he knew there was a connection between this mysterious figure and Professor R. Although Professor R had officially distanced himself from his superior, who knows what dirty dealings they might still be involved in privately?
When Xiao Qiang asked for the location of the cave, Eagle City Lord felt a wave of anxiety wash over him. He suddenly regretted revealing this information. However, with an enemy in front and a woman behind him wielding a gun against his spine, he felt trapped.
