As Xiao Qiang and the Eagle City Lord found themselves trapped in a bizarre paradise, Lin Yu in the future world was left in tears due to Yun's foresight.
Yun Yuzhi, Xiao Qiang, and Lin Yu's future was unfortunate; after a series of separations and reunions, they would meet again. However, this time they would be strangers, coming together in a foreign land.
Lin Yu meticulously tended to the few saplings of hope, which had grown tall. The leaves shimmered with a tender green glow, looking quite beautiful. Her gaze drifted far away, filled with anticipation... In the flowing colors of time, whose eyes were reflecting unending expectations? It was unforgettable! Unforgettable was the quiet and charming smile she had shown him, unforgettable was how she had cast everything aside to run towards him in moments of crisis.
Suddenly feeling a mist in her eyes, she noticed a hint of moisture at the corners. Unconsciously, she lifted her chin, as if sensing his warmth just within reach, making it easier to bite back the tears of emotion.
At this moment, no one intentionally disturbed Lin Yu's peace. They all knew she was missing someone—someone from the year 2038.
Yun and Matt's relationship deepened. Their bond reached a level where they could talk about anything.
Yun was very curious about Matt's past. "Do you have family?" she asked as she took a piece of fruit he offered, biting into it with enthusiasm.
Matt avoided her question and instead observed her with interest as she chewed on the fruit.
Yun paused her chewing and threw the half-eaten fruit at him in frustration, wanting to leave.
Having finally spent time together, Matt wasn't about to let time slip through his fingers. He pulled her into his embrace, his stubble teasing her cheek...
It must be said that Matt was a charming man; he exuded an alluring aura of maturity that stemmed from his own refinement.
Sensing the mature man's scent emanating from him, Yun felt intoxicated...
Soft beams of light streamed through the gaps in the milky white curtains, casting slender rays onto the two who lay entwined on the long sofa. The air was thick with an intimate atmosphere that seemed almost tangible under the gentle afternoon light. Suddenly, there was a knock at the door. Yun fluttered her eyelashes and opened her eyes wide.
Without needing to guess, she knew it had to be Lin Yu knocking outside. Her face flushed with embarrassment as she nervously jumped off the sofa.
Matt also woke up, his quirky appearance motionless under the covers. He stared intently at the flustered Yun.
"You, Lin Yu... she..."
Matt smiled and raised a finger, saying, "It's nothing. The little lady is lonely and thinking of her man."
"But why don't you let her see Xiao Qiang?" Yun asked, puzzled.
Matt got up and called out to the door, "Just a moment." He dressed slowly before walking to the door and opening it. To his surprise, it wasn't Lin Yu waiting outside, but...
The International Rescue Team's return made Matt very displeased.
"I have no personnel to provide," he stated firmly, refusing to comply with their demand to take Lin Yu away.
The Visitor was no pushover either; they remained silent, showing no reason for their actions. The more they acted this way, the more uncertain Matt felt. He could see a hint of malice and disdain in their eyes.
Sure enough, when Matt stepped outside, he was met with an unwelcome sight. Lin Yu had already been taken hostage by a group that looked like elite anti-terrorism operatives, armed and surrounding his pitiful little temporary base.
Matt looked at the Visitor with a smug expression.
"What is this?"
"You must unconditionally accept the orders from higher authorities; resistance is futile."
"This is sheer bullying," Matt said helplessly, casting a pained glance at Lin Yu. He understood all too well what falling into the hands of the International Rescue Team would mean, but he couldn't resist; doing so would lead to catastrophic consequences.
The International Rescue Team would use the excuse of eradicating terrorists to cover up their acts of slaughter. They had done this so many times that it no longer surprised anyone; no one would care if another small base organized by mutants was lost.
But what if Lin Yu was taken away? How would Xiao Qiang explain it when he returned? Matt's stern face gradually tightened, his deep-set eyes filled with a mix of emotions: confusion, hesitation, worry, and regret.
Lin Yu was taken away without a chance to speak or say goodbye. Matt's protective system had suffered an unforeseen breach.
Who leaked the protective source code he had set up? Apart from the seemingly righteous Professor R, who had deceived Matt into trusting him, who else could understand his intricate defense system so thoroughly?
Fortunately, after some time of recuperation, Lin Yu's injuries had healed. Aside from being in a low mental state, he was otherwise doing well.
With Lin Yu gone from the base, the remaining little ones were gloomy for several days.
These little ones were all brought together by Matt's directive to find Lin Yu. Each possessed unique abilities, and if it weren't for the desire to protect these still vulnerable beings, Matt would not have easily given in and allowed those ill-intentioned individuals to take Lin Yu away.
Yun could not perceive Matt's past until one day he voluntarily shared a touching story with her.
Long ago, a veteran from the Guerrilla Military appeared before young Matt. This veteran had once researched biochemical weapons in the army and was highly regarded by a mysterious figure due to his extensive knowledge.
The veteran took pride in the various medals stored in an iron box, each marked with an "R." It was said that Mr. R had been exposed as a mutant due to an unfortunate incident, leading to unwarranted suspicion and distrust. On a dark and stormy night, he left the research facility with his honors in hand.
Matt was an orphan, alone and desolate at that time. He was just a few years old, crying out for his mother over a corpse that had been dead for days. The little boy cried until his voice was hoarse.
The veteran, initially intending to leave without looking back, suddenly realized he too was alone and decided to take the child with him—a person he could talk to.
To his surprise, Matt had a unique ability to communicate with fish; he was also an invisible mutant. Thus began an unbreakable bond between the veteran and Matt.
"Is he your mentor, Professor?"
Matt did not deny it; he simply sighed heavily and nodded.
The Mutant Base School was a small place, and Matt vowed that one day he would move to a larger building and expand the school.
Without Lin Yu's supervision, a group of playful children ran into the bustling city center, showing off their abilities.
One child was playing with fire, stealthily reaching his fingers toward another child's backside. The latter suddenly caught a whiff of something burning, flared his nostrils in curiosity, and discovered smoke rising from behind him. Terrified, he screamed, making a fool of himself and causing the onlookers to burst into laughter.
With a splash—water rained down from above, extinguishing the flames.
Matt sensed the commotion in the city through his sensors and hurriedly drove to the scene with Yun. The troublemaker would inevitably face punishment, standing alone under the sun for three hours as a consequence.
Gazing out the window at the punished child, Yun's eyes shifted to the tree that Lin Yu had personally planted. Unable to hold back any longer, she finally asked the question that had been weighing on her heart: "When will he come back?"
Matt furrowed his brow, his face darkening as he replied, "It depends on his fate."
