Xiao Qiang neither acknowledged nor denied the woman's words. Deep down, he loathed the seductive demeanor she displayed, yet he was genuinely curious about the implications hidden within her speech. He leaned in closer, his sharp gaze scrutinizing any subtle changes on her face. "Who are you?"
"It doesn't matter who I am; what matters is the truth for you," the woman replied with a light laugh, a glint of cunning flashing in her eyes.
"What truth?" Xiao Qiang's gaze flickered, as if he were suppressing an anger that was ready to erupt.
The woman fixed her gaze on his neck, feigning intimacy. "It seems like you're missing something."
Ignoring her flippant attitude, Xiao Qiang struggled to contain his rising fury and said, "If you have something to say, just say it."
"If you want to know the truth, I have a condition," she said, sensing his anger and quickly shifting to the main topic.
"What is it?"
"That chain around your neck..."
Following her gaze, Xiao Qiang looked down at his neck and then resolutely raised his head. "I have never worn a chain." After their brief exchange and considering her mysterious background, he felt he knew what he needed to do.
His movements could not escape the woman's cold, piercing eyes.
A fierce glint flashed in Xiao Qiang's deep-set eyes, and a surge of rage erupted from his brow. He was quick on his feet; however, there was someone even faster.
In an instant, the woman extended her hand, and her five fingers transformed into five writhing Spirit Snakes. In a heartbeat, they ensnared Xiao Qiang before he could react.
The moving Spirit Snakes tightened their grip around Xiao Qiang's body with increasing intensity.
The woman approached him with a sinister smile, her tone dripping with disdain. "My great hero, have you not remembered who I am?"
Staring into her seemingly familiar eyes, Xiao Qiang struggled to recall, racking his brain for answers.
Seeing that he was not pretending, the woman sighed and shook her head. "This is the consequence of your excessive kindness. Humanity deserves to perish. They treat you this way, yet you remain loyal. Let me tell you, blind loyalty leads to a terrible end."
The more Xiao Qiang struggled, the tighter the Spirit Snake coiled around him.
"Who are you?"
"Hahaha! It seems I overestimated you. Were you just carefully observing that all the energy in your body has been drained?" The woman mocked with a smirk as she leaned closer to Xiao Qiang, suddenly extending her tongue to lick his cheek. "I am Plum Blossom Rain."
Xiao Qiang shook his head, desperately trying to create distance and evade Plum Blossom Rain's tongue. In that moment of distraction, her tongue darted into his ear.
"Ah..." Xiao Qiang shouted, "What kind of monster are you?"
Plum Blossom Rain quickly retracted her tongue, savoring the moment with a satisfied smile. "I am of the same kind of monster as you. Now tell me, where is Chain?"
"What Chain?" Xiao Qiang was utterly confused, overwhelmed by this woman named Plum Blossom Rain.
"Playing dumb, are we?" Plum Blossom Rain pondered for a moment before suddenly wondering if Chain might have fallen into someone else's hands. "You really don't know where Chain is?"
"I don't know."
"Where did Choke go today?"
"I don't know."
"Hmph! I'll make you know..." As she spoke, Plum Blossom Rain once again extended her tongue. "The truth can be found at the Robot Company."
The Spirit Snake writhed and slithered across her body, sending a chilling sensation through Xiao Qiang's heart. When he saw Plum Blossom Rain attempting to poke her tongue into his ear, he could no longer endure the ticklish and painful feeling. In a sudden burst of rage, he shouted, and the energy that had been building up within him erupted at that moment.
His body surged with strength, breaking free from the five Spirit Snakes that Shu Bo had wrapped around him. There was a loud crackling sound, followed by Plum Blossom Rain's piercing scream of "Ahhh..." Her fingers were instantly covered in blood, as if they had been sliced cleanly by a knife, blood gushing out in a spray.
Xiao Qiang turned the tables and stepped closer, gripping Plum Blossom Rain's chin tightly.
Suddenly, the explosion-proof door behind him slid open silently. The person entering saw Xiao Qiang committing an act of violence. He was holding the injured member of Kabo Corporation, Plum Blossom Rain...
Mihir would not listen to any explanation; without any reason, he ordered Xiao Qiang to release Plum Blossom Rain. At the same time, fully armed Security Guards emerged, guns aimed at Xiao Qiang.
This scene unfolded unexpectedly, leaving Xiao Qiang bewildered. Was there no justice in distinguishing right from wrong? He looked at Mihir, who usually appeared refined and cultured but now revealed a hypocritical facade.
Xiao Qiang witnessed Plum Blossom Rain feigning innocence as she put on a pitiful act. Yet her eyes sparkled with malicious delight as she watched him being escorted away by the Security Guards.
Naturally, Mihir had to comfort Plum Blossom Rain; after all, she was the favored one in front of the major shareholder.
"Are your fingers alright?" he asked solicitously, pulling out a special medicine that would stop bleeding and promote healing with just a drop.
"I'm fine. He went crazy and actually dared to bite my finger," Plum Blossom Rain said pitifully, then probed further, "How did you manage to bring him here?"
"It was the boss who arranged for it..." Mihir realized he had spoken too much and quickly fell silent, using the medicine to cover up his earlier slip.
"You're still concerned about me," Plum Blossom Rain said with a flirtatious wink and a playful tone.
Mihir didn't know much about Plum Blossom Rain's true identity. However, there was an alluring charm about her that made it impossible to resist getting closer.
Seeing the man before her display a look of infatuation, Plum Blossom Rain felt a surge of delight within her. She decided to employ her enchanting powers once again, captivating his mind. She wanted to extract information from him about Xiao Qiang's true situation here and the whereabouts of the Reincarnation Card Chain.
Mihir felt somewhat entranced, his mind lost in a haze, mistakenly believing this was his private sanctuary. He thought to himself that Plum Blossom Rain seemed to be an experienced seductress who knew how to please a man.
With such an opportunity presented to him, there was no need to refuse. There was no reason to maintain such high standards when there was nothing to lose... he thought. As Plum Blossom Rain's tongue slid into his mouth, he found himself not rejecting her advances.
Meanwhile, Xiao Qiang was confined, and the usually frustrated Security Guards were now trying to find some balance at his expense. The electromagnetic baton struck him repeatedly.
As the strong electric current coursed through him, he gritted his teeth, his muscles tensed and bulging. From his arms to his neck were the marks left by their torment—a series of purplish-red bruises.
Two Security Guards took turns dealing with him; one pressed a specially configured 70-centimeter revolver against his head while the other continued to beat him with the electromagnetic baton, spewing foul insults: "You bastard, what skills do you think you have? Always acting tough in front of us, but today you’ve fallen into our hands."
Under the onslaught of electricity, flashes of strange images began to layer upon each other in Xiao Qiang's mind. The Security Guard had inadvertently triggered memories suppressed in his memory vault, Stratum. Amidst the continued barrage of insults from the Security Guard, Xiao Qiang could no longer endure it. He bared his white teeth and opened his mouth wide, roaring in fury! "Ah..." With a crack, he broke free from Shu Bo's chains!
