Xiao Qiang's words piqued Jack's curiosity. "Do you have any other abnormalities besides this level of Ability?" The former hesitated for a moment and shook his head.
"I seem to have forgotten," he said. How could he possibly forget the countless times of painful torment? His entire body felt as if the bones were dislocated, with pain penetrating to the marrow. However, later on, this symptom seemed to gradually lessen and eventually disappear due to the merging of two energies within him. "Let's continue our analysis," Xiao Qiang changed the subject, redirecting Lin Yu and Jack's attention back to the war.
"Tomorrow's Battle might be the final showdown against the Mimetic Bionic Aliens. They are perfectly evolved Supreme Beings, possessing keen insight and intelligence."
Xiao Qiang thought Jack was too tense. If such a creature was that formidable, how had they achieved victory in the Cosmic War? He said, "No way. Don't let others' strengths diminish your own spirit. I believe humanity will always be the ruler of the biological world."
Lin Yu shook his head, a serious expression on his face. "You're mistaken. They will become the overlords of the entire universe in the future. Humanity will perish under their slaughter. In future star systems, humanity may selectively preserve its species by sending newborn infants to star systems developed by humans. This journey will take sixty years, meaning these infants will return to Earth at fifty or sixty years old, bringing with them descendants bred in those star systems to rebuild Earth."
Xiao Qiang was baffled. "Aren't you thinking too far ahead? The Cosmic War has been won, hasn't it? How can you be so sure this war is the enemy's final battle?"
"I say the Cosmic War is a trick played by the enemy; it's a scheme to lure us deeper into their trap. Would you believe that?"
Xiao Qiang shook his head. "I don't believe it."
Lin Yu gestured emphatically. "The enemy deliberately lost in the Cosmic War to make us think we could defeat them, leading us to go all out for a final battle. Their scheme would succeed, and then they would wipe us out completely, completing the first step of invading Earth. You can easily imagine what they would do next."
"Humanity would face catastrophic extinction..." Xiao Qiang's eyes widened as he struggled to swallow, finding it hard to believe.
"Absolutely," Jack emphasized. "You can imagine that in the future there will be thousands or even millions of Supreme Beings ruling over the entire universe, looking for opportunities to land on Earth. Afterward, Earth would be defenseless, engulfed in flames with no survivors left—neither humans nor animals or plants. And those who created this inferno are the enemies of Tomorrow's Battle."
Lin Yu interjected, "Unless you stop them and eliminate them."
"I..."
"Only you," Jack agreed with Lin Yu's statement. "As long as we find the concentration point of the creatures, you can infiltrate their lair and disrupt the central nervous system of the monsters. Then, we can shift from a passive to an active stance. You will control time, allowing you to restart it anytime and anywhere. But be particularly careful; these monsters can anticipate our thoughts and battle plans. With such opponents, victory will be difficult."
Jack and Lin Yu took turns explaining, leaving Xiao Qiang feeling overwhelmed. "Can I really do this?"
Lin Yu gave him an encouraging look. "You can do it. Your abilities are unique."
"But how do I master this time control? Are there any rules?"
Lin Yu exchanged a glance with Jack, biting her lip before finally lifting her head to say, "You must die."
"Like in Tomorrow's Battle?" Xiao Qiang asked nervously. "But what if something goes wrong? What if I die and never wake up again?" He felt foolish for just having recognized Lin Yu, yet now he faced the danger of death repeatedly. If he hadn't met her yet, he wouldn't mind dying once more, but this...
"Don't think too much. Only by doing this can we defeat the enemy," Lin Yu wanted to get closer to Xiao Qiang but hesitated because of Jack's presence. Instead, she maintained her distance and repeatedly cast him encouraging glances.
"You must die. You die every day; each death brings you closer to the truth. With each death, the day of the enemy's destruction draws nearer."
Jack's words frightened Xiao Qiang. Dying repeatedly every day felt surreal, like a myth from a fairy tale. Lin Yu had changed; Jack seemed like a sorcerer casting spells to confuse him and cloud his mind.
Lin Yu appeared entranced, completely oblivious to the concept of death. She felt distant and unfamiliar, making him feel that their connection had become unreachable. He stepped back awkwardly, forcing a bitter smile as he said, "Are you two joking with me? If this were true, why not report it to General Jin Ming? He could withdraw the battle plan for Tomorrow's Battle and use powerful weapons against the Mimetic Organism."
Lin Yu looked at Xiao Qiang in surprise and said slowly, "Have you forgotten? Insanity, memory erasure, Clones, dissection rooms—what have we said?" Her brow furrowed as she glanced at the projection monitor. "It's these things that we haven't let anyone know about. No one believes those creatures possess intelligence or have ambitions stronger than humans."
"They are ruthless killers. Can you bear to witness humanity's cries? Weak children left homeless, devoured by these creatures like snacks? Can you watch as children's parents are slaughtered in battle after battle by these alien beings, leaving them orphaned?"
Xiao Qiang listened to Jack and Lin Yu's relentless words with a heart full of anguish. How could he bear it? He was also an orphan of war. Clenching his fists, he suddenly erupted with a shout: "No! Absolutely not!"
"Alright, tell us about the time you fell into the Blood Pool," Xiao Qiang said. Unbeknownst to him, as he stepped back, Jack quietly pulled out a miniature tranquilizer gun hidden beneath the monitoring device. If he continued to retreat, the gun would unceremoniously fire at him.
Seeing that Xiao Qiang was a tough man, full of passion, Jack felt a sense of relief. At least he hadn't misjudged him; Lin Yu's assessment was also correct.
"The Blood Pool is strange. The blood has an unbearable stench and there's another odd aura. It was something with tentacles that pulled me into the Blood Pool. I struggled hard to stand up from it... and then..." At this point, Xiao Qiang paused, shrugged, and said, "That's it, nothing more."
"Tentacles?" Jack exclaimed in shock. "Could it be that the Mimetic Organism had already settled on Earth long ago without being discovered? Is the Blood Pool its sanctuary? Besides the Blood Pool, did you see anything else? Perhaps illusions or something?"
"I didn't see any illusions, just a strange giant monster that looked somewhat human. This giant monster eats people."
"A mutated monster," Lin Yu said, equally astonished.
"That should be the case. However, we managed to eliminate the monster."
Jack stepped closer to Xiao Qiang, staring intently at him. "Next, you might see illusions. Perhaps the monster has already sensed your presence as a threat. Once it finds you, illusions will appear in your mind."
