The other party asked about the mark. Xiao Qiang was momentarily confused, not understanding what it meant.
"They once had three gods, but two of them have disappeared. The remaining god, I once heard him praying about a Hunter who bears a mark. He seemed afraid of this marked Hunter. If you don't have a mark, you should leave quickly! They possess magic, and only the marked Hunter can defeat the gods."
Wapu noticed Xiao Qiang's bewilderment and hurriedly explained, "He can communicate with the Toothy Divine Beast."
"It's useless; without a mark, nothing matters."
Xiao Qiang frowned, thinking for a moment, and instinctively rolled up his sleeve. Wapu, with keen eyes, grabbed his arm and said to the god's servant, "Look, he has a mark."
The mark on Xiao Qiang's arm was JD1-XQ.
However, to the god's servant, it was a sign that could overthrow the False God. He was overjoyed and began muttering in an incomprehensible Foreign Language.
A sudden sound from above indicated trouble. Xiao Qiang and Wapu quickly pushed open the wooden board and climbed up, only to find chaos above. The Slave Tribe members were deliberately blocking the Thugs trying to enter the basement for inspection, forming a human wall to cover Xiao Qiang and their safe retreat.
As they retraced their steps past the outer wall, they were spotted by two patrolling Thugs. The two Thugs stealthily followed behind them, unaware that those in front had no idea.
Climbing over the under-construction Gap Wall Turret, they reached fifty meters away from the desert. They climbed up Desert Ridge and saw their companions. They recounted everything that had happened inside the castle and meticulously planned for tomorrow's battle.
The two sneaky Raider Henchmen suddenly saw so many slaves at the foot of Desert Ridge and thought they had struck gold. If they reported this to the Messenger of the Gods, they could get promoted and perhaps even become favorites before the divine throne.
A heavy gasp accompanied by a fierce roar startled them into turning around nervously. Oh no! They shouted in panic but it was too late. A Spotted Saber-Toothed Tiger lunged forward and clamped its jaws around one Thug's neck, shaking him violently until his neck snapped.
The other Thug was terrified out of his wits and ran… he ran as fast as he could, scared out of his mind. At that moment, he wished desperately for his god to save him; before he could even scream for help, he was tackled into a sand pit by the ferocious Saber-Toothed Tiger.
They heard the commotion, and a crowd quickly gathered to see what was happening. When they arrived, they were met with a pool of sand soaked in blood and two lifeless bodies.
"Those two are Raider Henchmen," someone recognized the corpses as the villains who had once invaded their village, plundering their wealth and slaughtering their kin.
Xiao Qiang was puzzled; logically, there were no ferocious beasts in the desert. How on earth did these two scoundrels meet their end?
The villagers surrounded the scene, speculating about the cause of death for the two villains.
Suddenly, someone exclaimed, "Look!"
On the ridge, a large cat-like figure leaped and vanished into the distance. Wapu exclaimed, "Is that the Toothy Divine Beast?"
"Yes, it must have killed those two scoundrels."
"But why didn't it eat them?"
"Don't forget. Divine Beasts don't just eat anyone; if it won't eat them, they must not be good people. Eating them would only give it an upset stomach."
Old Dada Mishu's humorous remark elicited a burst of laughter from the crowd.
Xiao Qiang remained silent and somber. He needed to remember everything happening before him so that when he returned to the 2050s, he could share all he had seen and heard with Lin Yu.
Thinking of Lin Yu suddenly reminded him of Jill. That detestable person—time had been too short for him to seek her out, and he had no idea how she was faring now.
Among the many female slaves, Jill stood out for her beauty but was also the most dangerous target. Lime watched her during the day and thought of her at night. Tonight was a good night; he wanted to make her his woman.
Jill was deliberately confined in a solitary prison cell, under the watchful eyes of two guards who occasionally cast greedy glances her way. Lime appeared and whispered a few words to the guards, who, understanding the hint, retreated, leaving Jill alone with Lime in the cell.
Lime approached Jill. "Be my woman, and I'll give you freedom," he said, revealing that he could speak the language of the Waji Mountain People.
Jill stared at him in shock but found herself unable to escape from his presence. Reluctantly, she was pulled into his embrace. She did not resist; instead, she feigned compliance while her hand subtly reached for the hilt of his dagger, drawing it out unnoticed.
Lime nuzzled against Jill's head, displaying an ambiguous and intimate gesture. Just as Jill raised the dagger, intending to take them both down, the wooden door suddenly swung open. A group of people rushed in from outside, startling her into retracting her hand and observing the situation.
The newcomers were Hagu and his companions.
Hagu had reported Lime for taking a divine slave without permission. The Messenger of the Gods had swiftly arrived with others to arrest Lime, the traitor who dared to offend the great deity.
Hagu smirked disdainfully and shot a contemptuous glance at Lime. In response, Lime spat at Hagu and turned to leave in anger.
Jill was still shaken and felt uneasy facing these strange Divine Messengers.
Two Young Messengers of the Gods noticed the dagger in her hand.
They exchanged glances and spoke in their Outsider tongue, which Jill could not understand. Then they moved forward together, flanking her to snatch the dagger from her grasp.
As they seized the dagger from Jill's wrist, they discovered a half-string of Mammoth Ivory Teeth attached to a Chain. The sight of the fierce Mammoth reminded them of the Hunter mark spoken of by the gods.
The two examined the Chain closely; at first glance, it resembled a Seven Star Chain. They chattered nervously in their Outsider language before rushing to report to the Divine Messenger, gesturing wildly as they spoke in an unknown tongue.
The Envoy of the God was using a lens to observe celestial phenomena when he heard what the Young Messengers had said. His expression changed as he approached Jill and seized her wrist chain for a closer look.
Jill was brought before the deity by this group of people overnight.
The deity was draped in a large robe, wrapped tightly from head to toe, resembling a lifeless human puppet.
Jill was forced to prostrate herself on the ground and pay her respects to the deity.
In front of the throne, the Divine Messenger extended sharp nails to cover their face and said to the deity, "God, there is something that must be said, though I fear it may offend you."
"Speak."
"She wears the Seven Star Chain as an ornament."
The deity trembled all over and fell back into the chair behind them.
Xiao Qiang gazed up at the star-filled night sky and saw the brightest star among the Seven Star Chain. He raised his arm, recalling the words of the False God's servant in the cave, feeling utterly perplexed.
The mark on his arm was bestowed by Professor R; how could it be connected to Ancient Times?
