In order to evade Matt's Nano Tracker, Lin Yu had gone to great lengths, not knowing how many cities she had moved through before finally settling down. She changed her communication devices and created false genetic data. For Xiao Qiang, she was willing to give up her past reputation and achievements, choosing instead to live as an ordinary human, hoping to share a simple life with him.
Matt and the others said that the original plan must continue; Xiao Qiang still needed to go to Post-Century, but they had to clarify his viral condition before finalizing any plans.
Lin Yu activated the smart alarm system in her car and engaged the autopilot. In the back seat lay the Time Machine Box that Han Ming had given her. She generally avoided using it unless absolutely necessary.
Their home was not in a bustling area but rather in a secluded environment, a standalone European-style villa. Of course, micro pinhole cameras were installed around the villa; as soon as there was any disturbance, they could both disappear into another space.
Lin Yu approached the door and stood in front of the nano pupil scanner, which opened the door for her. Upon entering, she immediately saw Xiao Qiang's face filled with panic. She adjusted her bag in front of her and walked over to the refrigerator, opening the door. As she transferred items from her bag into the fridge, she casually asked, "How are you feeling today?"
Seeing Lin Yu enter, Xiao Qiang had many questions he wanted to ask, but he simply nodded calmly and pointed at himself, saying, "Are you asking me?"
"Uh-huh! Is there someone else in here?" Lin Yu closed the refrigerator door and smiled at Xiao Qiang.
"Then I guess that means you're asking me," Xiao Qiang replied with an apologetic smile as he glanced around before looking back at Lin Yu. "I want to know what's really going on."
"Matt concealed the truth from you. They implanted nanobots in your capillaries to track you. He knows everything that happened during your time in Ancient Times. The Desert Vortex isn't a natural phenomenon; it's caused by abnormal magnetic forces leading to sand pits collapsing. Only for a brief moment did Matt fail to see what was happening; when you surfaced, the Nano Tracker pinpointed your location and used drones to bring you back."
Xiao Qiang seemed to understand as he nodded.
Suddenly recalling something, Lin Yu stood up and opened the refrigerator again. Turning back to him, she said, "There's a password lock set here; what's inside is crucial for you. And down below..." She bent down to pull out a drawer that was completely empty. "You... need to control your intake; otherwise I..."
"Are you talking about that bottle of blood?" Xiao Qiang interjected.
Lin Yu returned to the sofa and sat down, looking earnestly at Xiao Qiang as she nodded vigorously while avoiding discussing the blood directly. "I should explain everything in detail." She leaned closer and took his hand. "We've been through so much together and made it through. So I hope you can be strong too."
"Do I have a terminal illness?" Xiao Qiang joked, feeling strange being so close to Lin Yu. However, he felt particularly content with her care but couldn't understand how all of this had happened or what the truth was.
"Do you remember what you saw when you fell into the sand pit?"
"I saw a strange humanoid creature," Xiao Qiang said, pulling out his hand and gesturing under Lin Yu's watchful gaze. "It has a pair of dark red eyes. In Ancient Times, they called it the Mothman, an evil being."
"Is your virus caused by this creature?"
Xiao Qiang looked at his arm, puzzled. "A lot has happened in Ancient Times, like this mark..."
"Mark?"
"Yes, the tribespeople say this is the mark that overthrows the False God."
Lin Yu extended his slender finger and gently touched his arm. "Hmm, it looks a bit like the Seven Star Chain symbol."
"Continuing from our previous topic, tell me..."
"Okay." Lin Yu took a deep breath. "Your journey to Ancient Times was part of a program experiment. You were like a piece of code appearing in a predetermined program, playing an important role within it. Once the program completed its operation, the code would automatically disappear. However, there shouldn't be any anomalies in the desert; the Desert Vortex is intriguing."
"When I was in Ancient Times, I heard Wapu mention a legend about the False God residing in the desert."
"What is it?"
"The legend says that beneath Mirage, there is a mysterious passage with an Undead Monster inside, and below that lies treasure," Xiao Qiang recalled. "After Wapu told me this legend, the Desert Vortex occurred."
"That's just a coincidence! It can't be that this legend is a curse releasing evil elements, right?"

"Something that eats people? I'll just swallow you whole, then we won't have to be apart." Seeing Lin Yu seemed overly tense, Xiao Qiang tried to lighten the mood by pretending to be fierce and closing in on her...
Lin Yu, troubled and irritated, pushed Xiao Qiang's hand away and said, "Stop messing around." Then she surprised him with her next words: "I want to go see that desert with you."

Xiao Qiang lowered his head in thought for a moment, then suddenly raised it to change the subject, avoiding Lin Yu's words. "When did we get married?"
"You're worried about that?" Lin Yu replied casually. "You were brought back by a drone, unconscious and without any signs of life. They were going to perform an operation on you. I asked Yun for help, and secretly took you away using a time machine to escape far from the scene."
"The liquid in the fridge was for me?"
"Yes, Gene Protein, a medication to suppress the virus in your body."
"If I hadn't used Gene Protein, how long could I have lasted?"
"One week after injecting Gene Protein."
"Huh!" Xiao Qiang sighed, then looked at Lin Yu and said, "I'll take you there, to Ancient Times. I will definitely show you the unpolluted blue sky and the pristine air."
