The outbreak of the V2 virus prompted relevant authorities and the military to introduce the latest testing methods. In addition to using nano-infrared scanning and X-ray vision to examine pupils, new techniques were developed to detect early symptoms in potential virus carriers.
The military established a voluntary testing station in a densely populated area of City A. This station used the heat from the palm to assess the likelihood of a virus outbreak. With encouragement from the military and hospitals, most citizens willingly went to the testing station to check if they were carrying the virus.
Xiao Qiang was bitten on the finger by a carrier during the outbreak phase. He couldn't care less about admiring the guitar any longer and hurriedly tried to retrace his steps. In an alley, a few Brats peeked out from around a corner, and suddenly, a stone flew from behind and struck him squarely on the back of his head.
"What the hell is going on?" he exclaimed angrily, clutching his head as he turned to look at the fleeing Brats. Feeling his finger wet, he brought it up to his eyes and saw that the blow had been hard enough to draw blood.
Recalling Lin Yu's warning, Xiao Qiang swallowed his anger and hurriedly turned back. An ambulance screamed past him, heading toward the store that sold guitars.
Xiao Qiang quickly ran home and went to the bathroom to clean his head and finger wounds with antiseptic cotton. After disposing of the bloody cotton, he wanted to avoid worrying Lin Yu, ensuring that there was no trace left behind that would reveal he had gone out.
In the end, Lin Yu did not connect with Xiao Qiang. When she arrived at the hospital room, she saw the poor child; a nurse was administering the first dose of the Protein Antibody Vaccine.
The child's slightly pale face looked calm as he gazed at her.
She stepped forward, taking his small hand in hers, offering an encouraging smile. "You're so strong, little one. Aren't you afraid of getting a shot?"
"I'm not scared; you're really pretty, Doctor," the child replied innocently, blinking his bright eyes at Lin Yu.
"Is this little guy just being cheeky?"
Suddenly, an announcement echoed through the hallway: "Doctor Lin Yu, there's an emergency in the ER. Please head there as soon as possible."
Lin Yu glanced at her watch. "Keep an eye on him for me; I'll be right back."
"Good doctor."
"Thank you." Lin Yu said as he quickly walked out of the ward to check on the emergency room.
A new patient had just been brought in, an elderly man in the throes of a crisis. His pupils were dilated, and he was spewing forth dark blood from his mouth. Strangely, the old man seemed lucid and showed no signs of aggression. There were staff on duty in the emergency room, but upon seeing the old man's horrifying condition, they were so frightened that they froze up and didn't know where to run.
"His vital signs are stabilizing, and the pupil dilation is inexplicably easing," a nurse reported on the patient's condition.
"What was his occupation? Where was he found?" Lin Yu asked, feeling somewhat flustered and unsure how to handle this sudden situation.
"He owns a music store."
"The Century Organ Shop?"
"Yes."
The Century Organ Shop was not far from where Lin Yu and Xiao Qiang lived. Li Wen arrived shortly after hearing the news and inquired about the details before immediately ordering that the old man be taken to a special ward.
The old man was hooked up to an IV, and a nurse had already administered a dose of Protein Vaccine while he was being transported to the special ward. Lin Yu reported to Li Wen about the patient's condition: "The patient's temperature is returning to normal from a high fever. His serum tests haven't come back yet. Strangely, when a carrier of the virus goes into a frenzy, they usually lose their rationality and exhibit aggressive behavior towards normal people. He... did not!"
"Could it be a testing error? Is it possible that he has bleeding from his mouth and eyes due to another reason?"
"A citizen called for help, and an ambulance came to take him to the emergency room. The military personnel who accompanied him reported that he had not been attacked, which is why he was brought here."

As they spoke, the two entered the special ward. The elderly man appeared calm, and his complexion was gradually improving, with the signs of bleeding alleviating.

"Lin Yu, come with me," Li Wen said, leading the way as he jogged out. Lin Yu hurried to catch up, and the two rushed down the corridor to the Blood Testing Department.
The Blood Testing Department was generally off-limits to most people. However, Li Wen was a well-known figure in the hospital, and no one could stop him from entering.
Upon entering the Blood Testing Department, Li Wen asked the fully equipped nurse and doctor, "Has the test report for the serum sent from the emergency room just now come out?"
"It hasn't been tested yet," one of the doctors said, feeling a bit embarrassed as he lifted his cap upon seeing that Li Wen and Lin Yu were not wearing protective gear. "It's still in line for testing."
"We can't wait any longer; let me take a look."
The nurse cautiously handed over the elderly man's serum sample to Li Wen.
Li Wen sat down under the BXiD All-Around Optical Microscope and adjusted the lenses... He observed that as the serum solution decomposed, viral entities appeared, but there seemed to be a type of cell remarkably similar to the viral entities that appeared to be consuming them.
"What is this?" He stared in astonishment at the viral entities being devoured, suddenly overwhelmed by an indescribable sense of emotion and shock. It was incredible; a mysterious substance in the serum was engulfing the viral entities. What did this mean?
Lin Yu and others nearby were captivated by Li Wen's astonished expression. The laboratory fell silent, as if the whole world had quieted down, so much so that one could hear a pin drop.
Li Wen was filled with a mix of surprise and excitement as he grabbed Lin Yu and said, "This is incredible! Come take a look."
Lin Yu felt anxious, unsure of what had caused the teacher to react so dramatically. She obediently sat down and, under the gaze of many eyes, leaned forward to look at the serum dissolving solution beneath the lens. "No virus?" Her words struck like thunder, causing everyone in the laboratory to breathe a collective sigh of relief. After a moment of astonishment, they all turned their attention to Li Wen, waiting for his authoritative analysis.
"There is a mysterious blood cell in the old man's serum that seems to be devouring the viral elements in his blood... Let's go see this patient," Li Wen said, taking a few steps forward. In his excitement, he almost bumped heads with the tall doctor closely following him. He quickly sidestepped and added with an air of mystery, "He must be a patient in the throes of a viral outbreak; in an instant, the viral elements in his body have come under devastating attack."
With the help of the nurse, the old man no longer appeared as terrifying as before. He looked spirited and was chatting amiably, completely unlike someone suffering from a terminal viral disease.
Li Wen approached the old man to engage him in conversation.
The old man responded fluently and clearly, behaving just like any ordinary person.
Curiously, Li Wen asked whether any assistance had been provided to the old man by the ambulance. He also instructed Lin Yu to find out what medication had been administered when the old man was brought into the emergency room.
The answer revealed that he had received a dose of Protein Vaccine. However, Li Wen felt that this could not be the whole truth. If a single dose of Protein Vaccine could save critically ill patients during an outbreak, then why hadn’t many mildly infected patients shown similar recovery?
Suddenly, Li Wen had an unusual and daring idea: to extract serum from the old man and inject it into mildly infected patients' capillaries to see if the mysterious cells in the serum could devour the viruses affecting them.
