The detective from the Allied Forces dispatched by Chu Xiong arrived at a fifteen-story building owned by the president of the Foreign Trade International Transaction Center. They had received an anonymous tip about a loud alarm that had gone off just minutes earlier, and they were unsure what had happened.
The department head of the building met with the patrol officers and informed them that a thief had accidentally entered the premises last night, but nothing else was amiss.
After dismissing the patrol officers, the department head hurried back and ordered a large dose of anesthetic to be administered to the biological specimen in Laboratory 01. A thick mist sprayed into the lab, and in an instant, the target of Test Subject 01 vanished. Just as the head was about to issue another command, he suddenly felt a chill run down his spine. Test Subject 01 had climbed through the skylight and dropped down into their monitoring room. Before he could react, a dagger plunged into his back.
"You..." The head, bleeding from the corner of his mouth, widened his eyes as he collapsed to the ground. Another person panicked and tried to escape, but it was too late. Lin Yu grabbed his arm, yanked him back, and with a swift twist, there was a sharp crack as bones broke. The staff member screamed like a slaughtered pig and fell lifelessly to the floor.
Lin Yu nimbly climbed and evaded the searching guards. She descended from the elevator to confront another person who had tormented her in her memories.
The department head froze for a moment upon seeing Test Subject 01 in his office, his heart racing. He feigned calmness while secretly reaching for the alarm button with trembling hands.
With a leap, Lin Yu struck his hand before he could press the alarm. Pain shot through him, rendering him immobile. She stepped forward, gripping his neck tightly and demanded, "Who is Subject 02? And who is Subject 03?"
"I... I don't know..." he stammered, shaking like a leaf.
"I don't have the patience to waste time with you; it's your choice whether you talk." As she spoke, she pushed him against the floor-to-ceiling window. If she shattered it, he could fall fifteen stories to his death.
Terrified and unable to look back, he felt as if death itself was beckoning him. Faced with life or death, he clung to the hope of survival. "Subject 03 came with you. I don’t know much about Subject 02; it's classified information..."
Lin Yu applied more pressure on him, causing his body to tilt outward slightly. The glass window cracked ominously under the strain. The department head's face paled as cold sweat poured down him; he stuttered, "No! I’ll tell you! Subject 02 has some strange connection with you; your brainwaves synchronize when you're close together. I really don’t know any more details..."
With a swift motion, Lin Yu released her grip slightly. The glass could no longer withstand such pressure; it shattered completely. The department head screamed as he fell through the broken window, plummeting fifteen stories down and dying instantly from blood loss.
As darkness enveloped the night, Lin Yu did not leave the building; she intended to rescue Subjects 02 and 03. She sensed someone calling out but couldn't selfishly abandon her friends or the mysterious Subject 02.
The night sky was early adorned with a damned full moon. Upon seeing the full moon, Lin Yu felt an inexplicable surge of unease. She tilted her head back, gazing at the towering building that pierced the clouds in the darkness, and suddenly, a strange sensation appeared in her mind without warning.
It wasn't him; it was a form of information sensing. The image that emerged in her mind was from the platform of the building. Aside from a close blood relation, there was nothing that could provoke such a strong reaction in Lin Yu. What was on the platform? Without further thought, she turned and ran back to check.
As Lin Yu returned to the platform where the sensing information had come from, wolves with chilling fangs revealed their true forms under the full moon, sniffing the air for a special scent as they searched for Target 02.
The appearance of the werewolves interrupted her thoughts momentarily. Lin Yu showed no fear; she unleashed a flurry of punches and kicks against the snarling werewolves that lunged at her.
In her memory, a mass extermination seemed to have just occurred. Where did these werewolves come from? Questions lingered briefly in her mind as the aggressive werewolves surrounded her from all sides.
Suddenly, she was startled to see a shooting point across from her; however, it seemed that these shots weren't aimed at her but rather blocked the pursuing werewolves behind her.
The precision of the firepower was not something an ordinary person could achieve. A vague outline formed in Lin Yu's mind—surely it was him... As expected, just as she reached the corner, someone hidden there grabbed her tightly. Upon closer inspection, it was none other than Xiao Qiang.
Lin Yu felt a lump in her throat—family! She buried herself in his sturdy embrace, reluctant to look up.
"You're okay," he said. Silly boy, after so long apart, his words were so sparse and stingy. Lin Yu feigned modesty and stepped back slightly, standing back-to-back with him against the oncoming werewolves.
Xiao Qiang handed her a compact firearm filled with silver nitrate ammunition and uttered one word through clenched teeth: "Kill."
In an instant, chaos erupted in front of the building. Those who emerged from it transformed into werewolves as they ran and jumped.
The team members brought by Xiao Qiang were no pushovers; under the leadership of his deputy Wu Yi, they blocked the werewolves rushing out of the building. It became clear that the humans inside had contracted a rare virus transmitted by the son of the building's president. They didn't want to integrate into the Beast Werewolf community, so they aimed to develop a serum to resist the virus. Even if this plan failed, they could still use the developed serum to fend off silver's invasion.
Xiao Qiang instructed everyone to capture a werewolf at a critical moment. He needed to extract clues from this werewolf about who had betrayed him and Lin Yu from behind the scenes.
After a fierce battle, with the involvement of human military forces, Lin Yu and Xiao Qiang retreated to the underground passage. As they were leaving, they passed by the lower end of a platform where messages were being relayed. They hurried up to the platform and saw a child hiding among a pile of cluttered, discarded items.
The child appeared to be very frightened, curled up in a pitiful manner. Upon seeing Lin Yu, a glimmer of hope flashed in his eyes.
“It’s him,” Lin Yu exclaimed, rushing over to help the child up. “Do you remember me?”
The child nodded vigorously.
“Quick, retreat.” The involvement of human military forces was not a good sign. Although they claimed to be acting out of patriotic spirit by establishing a National Salvation Foundation, it would only bring trouble to Chu Xiong. Fortunately, under Wu Yi's leadership, Chu Xiong's personnel had not suffered significant harm.
The president of the building emerged grandly, continuing to lie: “It is our poor management that allowed thieves to enter and steal our commercial secrets.”
This place was closest to the Li Family. With no other refuge available, Lin Yu knew that the Li Family had a stone house secret chamber. On their way, they intercepted a small delivery truck. Just as they drove away, Lin Yu suddenly saw a shadow leap down from another window of the building.
“Is that… Li Hang?”
“Huh?” He slammed on the brakes, turned the wheel sharply, and sped towards where the shadow had fallen. Lin Yu saw someone lying on the ground—who else could it be but Li Hang?
