This is an Asteroid Shelter, and the station master, Oke, is a kind-hearted Alien Creature. He mentioned that he received a message from Xiao Qiang's ring, indicating that it was searching for him, drifting alone in the vastness of space.
Oke expressed his admiration for Earth beings, stating that their intelligence is truly impressive. He hoped that Xiao Qiang could trust him and assured him that he could ask for help with anything he needed.
"…So, how do you plan to help me?" Xiao Qiang asked cautiously, still hesitant to reveal his inner worries.
"I can only say you are fortunate that I found you before others who wish to harm Earth beings."
"How do you know something is looking for me?"
"Aren't you hungry?" Oke evaded the question and walked steadily ahead. He tossed a remark back to the hesitating Xiao Qiang: "Follow me."
Uncertain whether Oke was friend or foe, Xiao Qiang realized he was indeed hungry. He wondered what kind of food could possibly be available in this strange little station devoid of soil and filled with bizarre floating objects.
Oke led Xiao Qiang into what appeared to be a dining area, where several peculiar-looking creatures were already seated, engrossed in devouring the food on their plates. A pile of green, wriggling food that looked quite unappetizing.
Oke approached the counter and spoke to a creature behind it that resembled him: "Prepare a meal for this Earth guest."
Xiao Qiang did not want to eat the repulsive-looking food. He quickly stepped forward and said to the creature at the counter, "I'll have a bowl of corn porridge."
"Corn porridge?" The creature at the counter paused, then wiggled its thick rear end and opened its not-so-appealing lips in what seemed like either mockery or derision, producing a strange smile as it said, "We don't have corn porridge here."
At that moment, a whisper came from somewhere: "Ugly Earthling."
Xiao Qiang heard it and couldn't help but chuckle. Seriously? How am I ugly? No matter how ugly I might be, I'm still better looking than you monsters!
Oke seemed to read Xiao Qiang's thoughts and reached out with his claw-like hand to pat his shoulder gently. "Here, you must learn to be magnanimous. This place requires peace and tranquility; there should be no discriminatory thoughts."
Xiao Qiang remained silent but felt quite displeased inside. It was these monsters who insulted him as an Earthling. Why did it seem like he was the one causing trouble? However, if Oke hadn't discovered and taken him in, he wouldn't know where else to go. Given this situation, he should remain calm and try to make a good impression.
Reluctantly picking up the already served gooey food that resembled thick soup, he walked over and sat down next to Oke. The sticky food bubbled and wriggled as Xiao Qiang's stomach grumbled embarrassingly.
"Go ahead! There’s no food from your Earth here," Oke encouraged as he scooped up some of the wriggling green goo with a spoon and brought it to his mouth. He seemed to enjoy it as he closed his eyes slightly and slowly swallowed the food.
With a suspicious gaze at Oke, Xiao Qiang lowered his head to look at the food on his plate and swallowed hard. "Is it really delicious?"
"Of course," Oke replied slowly but confidently.
"Alright then!" Xiao Qiang tentatively scooped a spoonful into his mouth. It was sweet but not overwhelming, and somewhat… quite good. He smiled and, under Oke's watchful eyes, finished the entire plate of food without saying another word.
From the corner approached the creatures that had just insulted Earthling—two large bugs. It was no exaggeration to call them bugs; each had a pair of antennae atop their heads, green skin, wide mouths, and lifeless eyes that rolled around when they stared at someone.
"Earthling," one of them said with malicious intent, fixing its gaze on Xiao Qiang. The language was recognizable as Mandarin. As it muttered, it moved closer.
Oke was nowhere to be found, leaving Xiao Qiang alone at the table.
Stay calm! Stay composed! he told himself. Ignoring the provocation from the two creatures, he didn’t change his posture.
The other bug was dissatisfied with Xiao Qiang's attitude. "He's a bit arrogant."
"Yes, he clearly isn't a good sort," the other bug agreed.
"Are you trying to cause trouble here?" The two annoying bugs flanked Xiao Qiang, preparing to attack him simultaneously.
Xiao Qiang ducked and evaded their assault. He struck one of the bugs on its back, causing it to stumble and fall awkwardly. With its round belly resembling a ball, it struggled to get back up.
Having knocked one bug down, the other bug retreated in fear while threatening, "You better remember this; I will settle the score with you."
Oke rushed out and scolded Xiao Qiang, "You shouldn't have fought back." He helped the struggling bug up from the ground and said, "Apologize quickly."
"Why should I?" Xiao Qiang glared defiantly and refused to apologize.
The bug that had gotten up looked disheveled and shot a cold glance at Xiao Qiang. It showed no gratitude for Oke's assistance and angrily left instead.
"You’re going to get into trouble like this. Don’t you want Earth to rise again? Or do you want to spend the rest of your life drifting through space? If so, congratulations! In the future, humanity will become a historical case study in Extraterrestrial Beings textbooks, and your bones will be specimens in Alien System museums."
"That's alarmist," Xiao Qiang murmured, not daring to speak loudly, as he still had needs from the other party. "Alright, I admit I was wrong, but why do you want to help me?"
"Still don't believe in my sincerity?" Oke led Xiao Qiang out of the dining hall and into a room, pointing at a spaceship. "You'll use this to travel through the universe. Put on the helmet and make sure to follow the cosmic traffic rules."
"I want to search for my wife and child." Xiao Qiang felt that the spaceship was too small, barely half the size of a proper ship.
"This is a temporary safe haven. As soon as you cross that shimmering golden boundary, you'll be pursued. The Blue Star Lifeform hasn't given up on tracking you; they've been waiting."
"What should I do next?"
Oke didn't immediately answer Xiao Qiang's question. Instead, he stepped closer and grabbed his hand, which wore a ring, holding it for several minutes. "You are friends with him; that's why I must help you."
"What?"
"This is an heirloom left by my ancestor. After he went to your Earth, he disappeared without a trace. Before leaving, he told me that as long as I see this ring, it means I see him. Regardless of who wears this ring, I will do everything in my power to assist."
Xiao Qiang was secretly astonished. He had thought this was an item left by an Alien System Catcher, but it seemed otherwise. What secret did this ring hold? Besides bringing him good luck, did it have other purposes?
