On another planet in a distant star system, there was always a feeling of being an outsider. Especially for Wu Yi, who had endured various unfair treatments, harboring a belly full of grievances. He had become depressed, disheveled, and resigned to his fate, living a nomadic life filled with darkness and despair. In his eyes, he was weathered yet resilient, unaware that his physical condition was deteriorating, leaving him plagued with ailments.
The captain of Ajima, Lingfeng, was a very enthusiastic Earthling. With short hair, sharp eyebrows, and a piercing yet slightly melancholic gaze, he was particularly notable for his thick mustache that resembled a pair of inverted commas.
With the help of this eager companion, Xiao Qiang felt relieved; he no longer had to live in constant fear. There was nothing to hide or avoid from Ajima and this young spaceship captain. He laid bare the details of Chu Xiong, Ph.D.'s Cosmic Noah's Ark Project, hoping to gain Lingfeng's full support for the future of humanity.
Ajima did not believe that Xiao Qiang and Wu Yi were peers bound by brotherhood; to her, the former appeared mature and composed, exuding an air of elegance and propriety. The differences between them were stark—one was disheveled and worn out, while the other was youthful and efficient.
"Do you want to know my age?" Xiao Qiang asked, not intending to provoke Wu Yi but rather to convince Ajima of his credibility.
"Let me guess," Ajima said, resting her chin on her hand as she circled around Xiao Qiang. She offered him a gentle smile and said, "Hmm... 29?"
"NO, NO," Xiao Qiang raised his finger encouragingly. "Keep guessing."
Another creature resembling a Robot Cat struggled to move its bent legs while carrying a stack of items in its arms. Unaware, Xiao Qiang stepped back and accidentally stepped on it.
"Do you know who you just stepped on?" the Robot Cat shouted.
Xiao Qiang quickly turned around with an apologetic smile. "I'm sorry."
Ajima hurriedly introduced him to the Robot Cat. "This is Wildfire, a great Earthling." Then she looked at the busy Robot Cat who ignored their presence and continued introducing it to Xiao Qiang. "This is Rajiv..."
Rajiv set down the items and placed his hands on his hips as he glared at the one who had just stepped on him. "I am also cultured and educated; I am not just some Robot Cat you see."
"What do you mean?"
"Don't mind him; he's just a boring Robot Cat," Ajima said with raised eyebrows in a gesture of exasperation before returning to the previous topic. "So how old are you really?"
"Three days, five hours, eight minutes, and thirty-seven seconds until I turn exactly one hundred years old."
"..." Ajima stared at Xiao Qiang in disbelief, trying to discern from his expression whether he was lying or just playing a joke. She then glanced at Wu Yi, whose face was gaunt and weary, and saw him give a wry smile and nod in affirmation. Only then did she believe that what he said was true. "How did you manage that?"
"It's not like I did anything special; it just happened."
Ajima moved closer to Xiao Qiang, gazing at him as if admiring a nearly perfect sculpture of the human form. She couldn't help but reach out and gently stroke his cheek, asking, "Do you have an elixir of immortality?"
At her words, Xiao Qiang suddenly felt a jolt of alarm. He replied evasively, "What elixir of immortality? I don't understand what you're talking about." He then walked over to Wu Yi and said, "If you need anything, just say the word. Don't forget I'm your buddy."
This close concern that had always lingered in the background deeply moved Wu Yi. He choked back tears as he spoke, "You must find Lin Yu and the children; they are the hope for the future."
"Of course, I will."
During the days spent traveling through space aboard the spaceship, Wu Yi's condition worsened; he was sometimes lucid and sometimes confused, often forgetting things. Ajima secretly told Xiao Qiang that his time was running out. Xiao Qiang's heart sank to an icy chill; he never left Wu Yi's side, staying with him until the Blue Star Lifeform discovered them, triggering a fierce battle in space.
The weapons used by the Blue Star Lifeform were laser beams, turning everything in their path into a sea of fire and explosions. Xiao Qiang forgot to remind Lingfeng not to cross that red boundary; however, it was too late for warnings now. There was no need to avoid an encounter with enemies when they had already crossed paths. Despite facing a formidable foe, Lingfeng bravely charged into battle.
Given the overwhelming firepower disparity between them, it was indeed unwise to confront them head-on. Xiao Qiang suggested they evade and break through to find an alternate route. Whoosh! Lingfeng demonstrated impressive piloting skills, skillfully dodging attacks. The miniature Alien System ships that couldn't evade in time would meet their doom upon colliding with the Blue Star System ships.
"Blue Star Lifeform is nothing but a bunch of bandits," Ajima cursed.
"Good grief! How did we get entangled with this plague?" Robot Cat remarked sarcastically before turning to Xiao Qiang and asking, "Is it really worth making such great sacrifices for one Earthling from a Wandering Colony Star?"
"You..." Xiao Qiang glared at him angrily but held back from arguing in front of Lingfeng and Ajima.
Lingfeng scolded Rajiv and Robot Cat sharply, "If you're scared, then just hide."
"Looks like I really need to hide," Robot Cat said, swaying its hips as it opened the hatch and crawled inside.
"Cat! I've never liked those cats," Xiao Qiang chuckled mischievously. He watched as Lingfeng shot down a ship from the Blue Star System, clapping and laughing, "Not bad at all."
"We need to climb higher to shake off these pests," Lingfeng said, pulling the lever. The ship zipped through the encirclement, darting into the stars like the wind. The Blue Star System lost its target and came to a halt in the vastness of space, eventually retreating on its own.
"They're not chasing us?" Xiao Qiang sighed in relief. He glanced at Wu Yi, whose face was ashen, his bloodshot eyes staring blankly at him. "Hey, buddy, don't scare me!" He waved his hands in front of Wu Yi's face, but he remained completely still.
A Cryogenic Chamber containing Wu Yi was gently ejected, and Xiao Qiang and Ajima watched as the chamber spun like a falling leaf, gliding in an arc before plummeting and disappearing into the distance.
"Is he going to fall?" Xiao Qiang hoped he would drop onto that already nonexistent Earth. It was an unrealistic thought, but he sincerely wished for Wu Yi to have a safe journey through the cosmos.
"What do we do next?" Lingfeng asked, his sharp brows furrowed as he gazed ahead. In front of them lay a treacherous cosmic debris field, where bones were piled high. The destroyed asteroid formed a natural gorge barrier that could very well block their path.
Knowing that this route was perilous, Lingfeng wouldn't have chosen such a rough path if it weren't for evading the Blue Star Lifeform's pursuit. However, there were pioneers with laser beams clearing a path. They crossed the treacherous gorge area, navigating through the razor-sharp cliffs.
The ship maneuvered through the jagged gorge, where one moment of inattention could lead to disaster. Inside the ship, there was a tense silence; Ajima appeared calm and collected, not looking at Xiao Qiang, who was sweating nervously in his palms.
