Xiao Qiang was curious why this place was not the Polar Star System that the Blue Star Lifeform dared not enter. Lingfeng explained that the climate here had significant temperature variations. In this Cosmic Star System, it took a year for the planets to complete an orbit, and this planet known as the Polar Star System experienced six months without sunlight.
During this half-year period, the entire land and water resources of the planet fell into a state of desolation. It was for this reason that the star system's lifeforms referred to it as Death Polar.
The Polar Phantom that Lingfeng mentioned was a terrifying creature. Most of them were female, feeding on and seducing Extraterrestrial Beings to reproduce.
Xiao Qiang's recent dream might have been a warning.
"We need to be careful. No matter how beautiful a woman looks in the future, we must not let her aboard our ship," Lingfeng warned. Her words were not mere exaggeration; Xiao Qiang still felt a lingering fear from his earlier experience.
Ajima and Robot Cat soon arrived in the cabin. Upon hearing about Xiao Qiang's dream, they couldn't help but click their tongues in disbelief. However, in perilous environments, secrets often lurked.
Following the route Lin Yu had set before leaving, Xiao Qiang did not think Lingfeng's navigation was incorrect. Since there was no mistake, they pressed on.
Xiao Qiang had a premonition that as they ventured deeper into the Polar region, his intuitive senses were sharpening. When they encountered a vast expanse of ice-like objects ahead, that mental connection suddenly ceased.
Xiao Qiang pressed his lips together, firm yet not overly thin, determinedly stating, "It must be around here."
Lingfeng cautiously piloted the ship, maneuvering around the razor-sharp ice formations. As they entered the frozen zone, the temperature inside the ship plummeted. Before them lay a blinding white landscape filled with lifeless objects devoid of any signs of life.
"I think you might have remembered the wrong place," Ajima suggested to Xiao Qiang.
"I don't think that's possible."
"Look ahead."
In a valley filled with snow-like dust, an abandoned star system platform abruptly came into view.
"Remember, there are no platforms here," Lingfeng muttered to himself, frowning.
"It's been a long time since we've been here. Should we go check out the platform?"
"Of course, let's go."
Lingfeng and Ajima exchanged words, leaving Xiao Qiang feeling confused. Logically, this was the location where Lin Yu and the others protected Noah's Ark during its emergency landing, yet what lay before them was a barren, desolate expanse of white.
It seemed that Lingfeng was no ordinary person; he could unconditionally fulfill all of Xiao Qiang's needs.
Wearing the heavy automatic temperature-regulating protective suit reminded one of astronauts landing on the moon. From inside the spacecraft, everything appeared peaceful and serene, but stepping outside proved to be far more challenging than imagined.
The cumbersome suit made each step difficult. With every attempt to tread on the soft, snow-like dust, one would sink deeply, struggling to lift a leg and take a step forward.
Behind Xiao Qiang and Lingfeng were deep footprints of varying depths. Ajima and Robot Cat remained aboard the spacecraft, keeping watch over their surroundings and preparing for defense.
They feared that as soon as they exited the spacecraft, they would be spotted by scouts from the Blue Star Lifeform, turning them into moving targets.
Lingfeng stepped on something hard and bent down to clear away the dust with his hands, revealing a rectangular Freezer Cabinet. "Look..." he shouted to Xiao Qiang.
How could there be a Freezer Cabinet here? Xiao Qiang was secretly astonished. If Lin Yu and the others hadn't arrived here, then who had landed? Lingfeng continued to uncover the sand covering the Freezer Cabinet, revealing a person inside.
"It's a person," Lingfeng exclaimed with a trembling voice. "He’s already dead."
Indeed! Xiao Qiang saw it too—the person inside the Freezer Cabinet was dead. The body had stiffened, and there were several clear bullet holes on the lid of the cabinet.
"It can't be..." Xiao Qiang examined the deceased closely; it was Li Hang! "It can't be!" He swung his fist in a fit of rage, his voice echoing through the gray sky.
"Is there anything else?" Lingfeng tossed aside the lifeless Cryogenic Chamber and continued searching.
Finally, they both found dozens of Cryogenic Chambers, each containing individuals who had been shot dead. If their guesses were correct, these dropouts had been killed by enemies lurking here.
Most of the deceased in these Cryogenic Chambers were selected from the Allied Nations, and it was unexpected that after enduring so many hardships, they would be intercepted here, leading to their failure.
"Don't be discouraged; you haven't found your family yet, have you?" Lingfeng comforted him with a solemn expression.
"How did they know there would be Earthling drops here?" Xiao Qiang pondered, his eyes filled with confusion and worry as he scanned the surroundings. If this was a monitoring platform preemptively set up by the enemy, then they must have been killed before they could even thaw out upon descent.
"I don't know; this is my first time here too."
"You should head back to the ship; I need to calm down."
"Do you want to bury them?" Lingfeng saw through his thoughts.
"Yes, there is a traditional custom on Earth: once someone has passed away, they should be laid to rest peacefully."
"Shall I help you?"
"Alright."
The bodies in the Cryogenic Chambers were covered in dried blood. Xiao Qiang sighed heavily and said, "I'm sorry, Brothers. I hope your spirits will bless me as I seek out Noah's Ark. Only then can Earth hope for rebirth." After saying this, he bowed respectfully to the pile of dust. Seeing so many victims weighed heavily on his heart, but it was comforting to know that Lin Yu and the others...
"Perhaps the captain of Noah's Ark left in time when he discovered the problem," Lingfeng remarked astutely, always subtly probing into Xiao Qiang's inner thoughts.
"Can you read minds?"
Lingfeng paused for a moment, "What are you talking about? I don't know any mind-reading techniques." He scratched his head, a gesture that made Xiao Qiang feel a sense of familiarity. "So what should we do next?"
"We should head back to the Wandering Colony Star," Xiao Qiang said, needing to regain his composure as he took large strides, sinking into the endless dust.
"This season is not too bad, but on regular days, this place is filled with swamp traps."
"Is there a water source here?"
"Well, it's not exactly a water source; it's more like a strange mist."
"The mist can seep through the dust and turn into swamps?" Xiao Qiang felt a chill run down his spine. It seemed Lingfeng was quite knowledgeable about this environment, but how could he have said it was his first time here?
Ajima had witnessed the two of them burying bodies aboard the ship; she could be quite an emotional alien. After Xiao Qiang boarded the ship, she cast him a concerned glance but didn't say much.
Robot Cat chattered incessantly about how tired he was after a long day, and he needed to quickly work on the three-dimensional map of the Cosmic Star System. Xiao Qiang knew this must have been ordered by Lingfeng, with the purpose of using the map to locate Noah's Ark.
However, the secret in his palm was unknown to both Xiao Qiang and Oke; they could only seek out Aulian for answers.
