In Denver, Natasha temporarily settled Tony and Yinsen in a hotel, waiting for the S.H.I.E.L.D. personnel to pick them up. Of course, she was also waiting for Shasha to join them.
Not long after, Shasha returned, and seeing him safe and sound, Natasha couldn't help but let out a slight sigh of relief. Even though she knew Shasha could handle himself, she still felt a bit worried; perhaps this was what they called "too much concern."
"The two of them are already asleep. They probably haven't had a good night's rest in a while," Shasha remarked.
Natasha nodded in understanding. If it were her, after going through such experiences, the first thing she'd want to do upon being rescued would be to get a good night's sleep, followed by a hearty breakfast.
"When will the people coming to pick them up arrive?" Shasha asked.
"About 10 AM tomorrow," Natasha replied, then suddenly lowered her voice and asked, "Do you think there's something suspicious about this situation?"
Shasha frowned at her words. "What do you mean?"
"The military took Tony Stark to test new weapons—this is something hardly anyone knows about. If those guys just happened to stumble upon it, that would be one thing. But I suspect someone tipped off the Ten Commandments Gang."
Seeing Natasha's serious demeanor, Shasha wanted to tell her that it was indeed the case, but it wasn't their concern. After all, this was just Tony Stark's family matter.
He said meaningfully, "Actually, wouldn't it be better to let them handle some things on their own?"
Natasha paused at his words and then seemed to ponder over them.
"Alright, get some rest. We have to hit the road early tomorrow," Shasha waved his hand and walked into his room, eager for another reason as well.
Watching Shasha move so quickly, Natasha was taken aback and then couldn't help but chuckle softly.
The next day at eight in the morning, Shasha stepped out of his room just as Tony was waking up. The two exchanged glances before Tony hesitantly asked, "You are..."
Shasha paused for a moment, remembering that he had used the identity of the King of Hell yesterday. Just as he was debating whether to cover it up or not, Tony's eyes suddenly lit up. "You're that guy from yesterday, right?"
Shasha smiled helplessly; he hadn't expected Tony to be as sharp as he had anticipated.
"Get up, thank you for saving me. If it weren't for you, I would have probably been tortured to the point of losing my mind by those guys," Tony said, extending his hand in a friendly manner, a stark contrast to his usual arrogant demeanor.
Shasha didn't hesitate; she shook his hand with a hint of relief. It seemed that to change a person's character flaws, one needed to go through some trials. Although this guy was a bit arrogant, he would be extremely friendly to those he valued. So now, had she been categorized as one of his friends?
"Actually, saving you was a request from S.H.I.E.L.D.; it was just a transaction," he added.
This statement carried a hint of testing the waters. The old Tony wouldn't have appreciated such words.
"Even if it's just a transaction, the one who saved me is you. You're my friend now; if you ever need help in the future, just let me know," Tony waved his hand dismissively and headed towards the restaurant downstairs.
Watching his retreating figure, Shasha smiled. What could be more wonderful than witnessing the birth of a superhero? Perhaps this guy had various character flaws and even lacked emotional intelligence, but one couldn't deny that he possessed personal charm—most of which he directed towards beautiful women.
Soon after, the four gathered at the dining table. Tony glanced at Natasha while eating and casually asked, "Don't you have anything to explain to me? My secretary."
Natasha replied nonchalantly, "If I hadn't disguised myself as your secretary, you'd probably still be eating leftovers at the Ten Commandments Gang's camp right now."
Tony choked slightly at her words and muttered, "I need an explanation from S.H.I.E.L.D."
Natasha shrugged and chose to remain silent.
Shasha observed this exchange and thought to herself that Tony's disdain for S.H.I.E.L.D. likely stemmed from situations like this. After all, normal people wouldn't accept being monitored like that, especially someone with Tony Stark's personality.
Before long, S.H.I.E.L.D.'s personnel arrived in Denver, leading the group to a civilian airport terminal.
A helicopter had been waiting for some time; everyone boarded it and returned to New York.
The next day, headlines announced Tony Stark's return. Despite facing disaster, he quickly appeared unfazed, leaving one to admire his psychological resilience.
As Shasha looked at the newspaper showing him maintaining his composure in front of the cameras, she couldn't help but chuckle silently while also speculating that Mark had likely moved up on the agenda. Once testing was complete, America would soon see an extremely high-profile hero emerge.
In this life, Yinsen did not die. With his help, the perfection and development of the armor would likely be even more remarkable than in the previous life. It was undeniable that Shasha's intervention indirectly aided Iron Man's rise.
But what of it? Shasha quite liked Tony's personality; although he was arrogant, he was not inflexible.
Just as these thoughts crossed her mind, a phone call came through to her office. After answering, she couldn't help but marvel at how fleeting life could be.
“Hey, buddy, it's really hard to find you. If I hadn't remembered what you looked like, I probably wouldn't have known where you were.”
Shasha chuckled at this. “What does the famous Tony Stark want with me?”
“There's a ball tonight, and I hope you can attend,” Tony said, his voice suddenly turning serious. “As much as I dislike asking, I need your help.”
“Well, that's the second favor you've asked of me.”
