Looking at the anxious girl before him, Shasha found it hard to believe that she would one day become the Scarlet Witch, a figure capable of causing chaos among the Avengers. As the daughter of Magneto, she was born extraordinary, possessing the potential of a level four mutant. With her chaos magic, she could create and annihilate matter, altering the probabilities of reality itself. However, it seemed that she had yet to tap into her greater powers.
"You're applying for the administrative assistant position?" As he flipped through Wanda Maximoff's resume, he noted that most of her experience involved odd jobs, seemingly to support herself and her brother through college. She was studying business management and had achieved excellent grades.
Upon hearing Shasha's question, Wanda nervously nodded. "Yes, sir."
She was indeed very nervous. There were many applicants, and many had better qualifications and skills than she did. Realistically, she didn’t think she had much chance of being hired, but she still came with a glimmer of hope.
Shasha assessed her, observing her youthful appearance and allowing a small smile to form on his lips. Just as Wanda thought she had been rejected when he closed the folder, he said, "Congratulations, you've been hired. You can sign the contract at any time."
Wanda froze in disbelief; she never expected to actually be hired. In the next moment, she excitedly stood up and bowed repeatedly towards Shasha. "Thank you! Thank you for hiring me!"
"Alright, go find my secretary Kathy; she'll help you draft the contract," Shasha waved his hand dismissively.
After Wanda left, Shasha couldn't help but chuckle for a long while. He never imagined that hiring an assistant would lead him to Scarlet Witch.
Earlier, he had wondered if Magneto had sent her, but now it seemed unlikely. The ideological conflict between father and daughter was not something easily resolved.
For now, matters at the company were settled.
Everything was proceeding in an orderly fashion. As Liquid Snake, he was developing his underground power. His ambitions went beyond merely conquering America; he wouldn't stop expanding just because of Jin Bing. Everything was for villainous reputation and to gain stronger abilities in the future.
It seemed that his lifelong enemy as a superhero hadn’t appeared for quite some time.
A wicked smile crept onto Shasha's face; after all, the rewards for main missions were exceptionally generous!
There weren't many superheroes left in America—Spider-Man was one, then there was Daredevil, and perhaps a few from the Warriors team. The heroes who once thrived in America either retired or vanished from public view.
Thus, if he wanted to complete his mission, he needed to focus on mutants.
Although this felt somewhat disloyal to Charles, there was no choice—the mission came first!
In Valdez, Alaska, a place where two climates meet, lies a vast expanse of glacial snowfields.
An old RV slowly came to a stop outside a tavern known as Hunter's Tavern. Many hunters living on the fringes chose this place to hunt animals, as the cold weather caused their prey to slow down, making hunting easier.
A robust man with a full beard stepped out of the vehicle. His demeanor appeared unfriendly, and from the moment he pushed open the door to enter the bar, it seemed that the patrons were not particularly welcoming.
"What can I get you?" The tavern owner never turned away business based on who the customer was.
"Vodka." The Bearded Man sat down by himself, scanning the room until his gaze landed on a private boxing ring. "Can you make money here? How much do you get for a match?"
A glass of vodka was placed in front of him, and the tavern owner replied coolly, "You can talk to them yourself."
He gestured toward a group of people gathered around the Ring.
Downing the vodka in one gulp, the Bearded Man slowly made his way toward the Ring.
The group of people who noticed him exchanged glances, and one burly man stepped in front of him. "It's a hundred bucks per match. Pay upfront before you get in!"
The Bearded Man slowly curled his lips into a smirk and pulled a hundred-dollar bill from his jacket pocket.
As he stepped into the ring, the door swung open again, revealing a strikingly pretty girl with streaked hair who looked like a rebellious youth but was unusually quiet.
She ordered a glass of milk and then turned her gaze toward the Bearded Man in the Ring. A feeling lingered in her heart; this person seemed different from ordinary folks.
The door opened once more, and a tall figure clad in a leather coat and only wearing a camouflage vest underneath entered. His gaze instantly locked onto the girl at the bar and the Bearded Man in the Ring.
Feeling exposed under his stare, the girl instinctively tightened her grip on her clothing.
His gaze quickly swept over her, causing her to breathe a sigh of relief. She then timidly cast her curious eyes toward the newcomer.
The Blonde Man watched as the Bearded Man on the ring seemed impervious to any blows, leaving no marks despite the attacks. In fact, those who struck him felt pain themselves.
Soon, conflict erupted. A few boxers, suspicious of the Bearded Man's identity, were about to make their move when a steel claw shot out, poised to pierce one of the boxers' throats. The tavern owner pulled out a shotgun.
"This place doesn't welcome you!"
"I'm just taking what's mine," the Bearded Man said as he snatched the Three Hundred Dollars from the boxer's hand and slowly began to leave.
As he passed through the doorway, the Bearded Man brushed past the Blonde Man. Their eyes met for a brief moment, and an unusual feeling passed between them.
A girl chased after the Bearded Man as the Blonde Man smiled quietly to himself and turned to exit the hostile tavern.
"So this is Wolverine," he mused.
