Luke Cage, originally named Carl Lucas, had previously roamed the streets before being wrongfully imprisoned. While in prison, he volunteered for the Super Soldier experiment, which transformed him, granting him an indestructible body and superhuman strength. Upon returning to New York, he adopted the name Luke Cage to conceal his identity and founded a mercenary hero company.
According to his original trajectory, after meeting the Treasure Woman, Jessica Jones, they fell in love and subsequently joined the Avengers. However, at this point, he had just undergone the Super Soldier transformation and had not yet established his mercenary hero company, all while being pursued by S.H.I.E.L.D.
This was the perfect moment for Shasha to step in. It was purely by chance that he learned about Luke Cage; it stemmed from a conflict with local forces that Tock discovered. Initially, Shasha did not pay much attention to it, but after expanding his territory, he began to take it seriously.
Although Luke Cage lacked management skills, his exceptional strength aligned with the underground forces' principles. If paired with Tock, they could complement each other well. Together, they could control Canada while Shasha could oversee America and later summon them back once he gathered more talent.
After making this decision, Shasha set off for Texas, where Luke Cage was located.
Luke Cage did not carry any special weapons; he wore an open-chest yellow jacket reminiscent of an 80s black rock singer and sported a belt made of iron chains—an absolute tough guy who once held the title of Power Man.
In Texas, although he kept a low profile, he occasionally revealed his abilities when standing up for his fellow citizens. However, he was also clever enough to know that exposure would lead to S.H.I.E.L.D.'s pursuit. Thus, he frequently moved between cities to avoid being pinned down in one place, which not only helped him evade S.H.I.E.L.D.'s watchful eyes but also prevented putting others at risk.
Houston, the largest city in Texas and the fourth largest in the United States, served as a major economic center along the Gulf Coast. While its vibrancy could not quite match New York's, it possessed its own unique charm.
Having been part of Mexico in the past, Houston had a significant Mexican population that brought a rich tapestry of cultural influences that could easily overwhelm newcomers.
Having been there for three months and having repeatedly shaken off S.H.I.E.L.D. agents pursuing him, Luke Cage simply changed his clothes and strolled through the streets. He enjoyed this place because of its freedom, despite the prevalence of criminal organizations.
During his free time, he worked at the docks and sought out trouble with local gangs at night; life felt quite easygoing.
However, Luke often questioned himself: was this life truly what he wanted?
Not only was it precarious day-to-day, but he also received no recognition from anyone. People merely took his actions for granted and did not see them as help.
Driven by a desire to combat evil, Luke had come to realize a painful truth: evil could never be completely eradicated. The dark aspects of human nature had become an integral part of society.
Recently, Luke had stopped going out at night. He gradually became indifferent to the misdeeds around him, choosing to ignore them unless they were particularly heinous crimes.
Understanding how much he had changed brought Luke great pain. He felt he had lost the meaning of life and slowly became addicted to alcohol.
When Shasha found him, he was slumped over the bar like a puddle of mud, surrounded by several empty vodka bottles. If anyone else drank like that, they would have long since passed out.
"Excuse me, sir, are you his friend?" the bartender asked Shasha as she approached.
Without hesitation, Shasha nodded.
"Then please settle this guy's tab," the bartender said, handing her the bill.
Just as Shasha was about to take it, a large black hand grasped the bartender's wrist. "Am I not paying?" Luke muttered, lifting his head slowly. There was no sign of drunkenness on his face; his eyes were merely slightly bleary, as if he had just woken up from a nap.
He placed several large bills on the bar and slowly stood up. After glancing at Shasha, he turned away and began to leave without saying a word, showing no interest in engaging with her.
Shasha smiled faintly and called out to him as he approached the exit of the bar. "Are you really content to live like this?"
Luke ignored her and continued walking away.
"Don't you want to use your strength for something worthwhile?" Shasha pressed on.
Still, Luke remained unresponsive, one foot already out the door.
"Let's have a fight and see whose fists are harder. If I win, you have to listen to me," Shasha said lightly.
Luke finally showed some reaction. He withdrew the foot he had stepped out with and slowly turned around. "What if you lose?"
"I'll help you revoke S.H.I.E.L.D.'s pursuit of you, no conditions attached."
Shasha's confidence convinced Luke, but as he watched Luke slowly take off his coat, revealing his steel-like muscles, his right fist clenched tightly.
The other patrons in the bar noticed that a fight was about to break out. Those who were brave had already left, while the curious stayed at the edges, waiting.
A stack of cash fell onto the bar as Shasha tossed aside his trench coat, showcasing his perfectly proportioned muscles and camouflage tank top. His blonde hair fell over his forehead, swaying with the breeze.
This was the force of Luke Cage's punch!
