In a secluded manor, Tessa brought Damon back, gazing at the figure sprawled lazily on the sofa. With genuine respect, she said, "Your Majesty, the mission failed; Damon is dead."
"Oh? It seems I need to reassess that guy's level of danger," the Black Queen's languid voice dripped with its usual allure. "And what about Elizabeth? She should still be alive, right?"
"Yes, he saved Elizabeth," Tessa replied honestly.
"Did you also inform him that her brother is not dead?" The Black Queen asked a question that should have sent chills down Tessa's spine.
Yet Tessa's expression remained unchanged. "Yes, I have already told him."
The Black Queen showed no sign of anger upon hearing this; instead, she praised Tessa. "Well done. This way, he has truly stepped into the trap."
Receiving the compliment, Tessa maintained her calm demeanor. "This is what my subordinate should do."
The Black Queen gave her a meaningful glance before leaning down and gently blowing a breath toward the lifeless Damon.
After a moment, the seemingly dead Damon suddenly moved his fingers.
After Shasha brought back the Braddock siblings, she had been puzzled as to why that version of herself would tell her all this. Was it merely because Elizabeth was her friend? That didn’t seem likely.
Before long, Elizabeth slowly awakened and immediately saw the boy lying on another bed. Her expression turned excited; it was Brian—he was still alive!
Struggling to get out of bed, Shasha's voice rang in her ears. "Don't worry; he's still alive."
Hearing this, Elizabeth sighed in relief but then a look of guilt crossed her face. "I'm sorry, Samal."
"I understand; I just need to explain. Someone has already helped you with that, so you don't need to worry," Shasha waved her hand dismissively, wearing an unconcerned smile.
The more Shasha acted this way, the worse Elizabeth felt inside. Every time someone was forced to betray a friend, her conscience would be tormented at that moment of choice. Even if her friend understood, she would still feel uneasy.
Especially, Shasha had also saved her brother, which made it difficult for her to repay such a favor.
"Actually, you don't need to feel burdened or think that you owe me anything. This was just a small effort on my part," Shasha sincerely wanted to alleviate Elizabeth's sense of obligation because he genuinely considered her a friend, not someone to be used for personal gain.
However, just because Shasha thought this way didn't mean Elizabeth did. To her, it was a significant favor, and she silently vowed to repay him; otherwise, she would feel guilty for the rest of her life.
Without waiting for Elizabeth's brother to wake up, Shasha decided to leave. After all, staying any longer would only make the atmosphere more awkward, and there was a chance that this charming model might feel compelled to repay him in an undesirable way. He certainly didn't want to be thanked in such a manner.
After Shasha left, Elizabeth's brother Brian woke up. Seeing his sister by his side, he asked in surprise, "What happened? Why are you here, sis?"
Elizabeth smiled wryly at his question and then recounted the events that had transpired.
Only then did Brian realize that he was in America and had been kidnapped. This revelation filled the young man with anger. "Damn it! Who are those guys?"
"Brian, don't even think about getting revenge. We can't deal with them right now," Elizabeth warned him, especially considering the woman standing behind them—the one who instilled fear.
Hearing Elizabeth's words, Brian had no choice but to suppress his anger and abandon this unrealistic notion for the time being.
"Since you're already in America, you should stay here. If you go back to England, those guys will come after you again," Elizabeth said with concern.
Brian nodded in agreement. "You handle it, sis."
Back home, Shasha was still pondering a question: Brian had been found too easily. With Black Queen's cunning nature, how could she not have set up a backup plan? What could that backup plan be?
Was Brian a fake? That seemed unlikely; Elizabeth should be able to tell if he were real or not.
So, was the problem with Elizabeth?
With these doubts lingering in his mind, Shasha slowly fell asleep, determined not to forget the important matters at hand.
The next day, he drove to the Space Agency and found Susan and Johnny Blaze waiting there for quite some time; Reed and Ben seemed yet to arrive.
"Sir, what brings you here?" Susan looked both surprised and delighted at Shasha's arrival.
"I came to see if my assistant needs anything and to send you off," Shasha replied with a smile, then turned to the seemingly half-asleep Johnny Blaze. "If you return safely this time, I'll throw a party."
Upon hearing about the party, Johnny Blaze perked up, his face lighting up with enthusiasm. "Don't worry, with me in charge of maintaining the space station, how could it possibly be unsafe?"
Susan rolled her eyes at her brother's statement, clearly unimpressed.
The three chatted for a while, and soon Reed and Ben arrived together.
As the four of them suited up in their space suits and prepared to board the ship, Shasha offered a few encouraging words.
As he watched them ascend into the sky aboard the rocket, he knew he was about to set in motion a legendary team.
