A phone call summoned Elizabeth, who was busy handling matters at the company, back home.
When she saw Brian sitting next to Shasha, she couldn't help but be taken aback. "Brian? Aren't you supposed to be at school?"
Brian glanced at her with a complex expression, cautious and silent.
Shasha knew it was time for her to speak up. "Elizabeth, I think we need to talk about some things."
Elizabeth set her bag down, hung up her coat, and sat down across from Shasha, filled with confusion. She didn't initiate the conversation; she wanted to hear what Shasha had to say.
"Have you noticed any changes in yourself since that house viewing?" Shasha chose her words carefully, trying not to provoke the increasingly sensitive Elizabeth.
Elizabeth was startled by the question. "What changes? I don't feel any different."
Shasha remained calm, continuing in a neutral tone. "Really? Think about it again."
Elizabeth furrowed her brows in thought. After a moment, she slowly shook her head. "I just feel like I've been under a lot of work pressure lately, often experiencing memory lapses, but other than that, nothing has changed."
Memory lapses? In simpler terms, it meant she had a poor memory and frequently forgot what she had done before.
If Shasha had been uncertain before coming here, after seeing Elizabeth in this state, he was now fairly certain of some things. His expression suddenly turned serious as he said in a low voice, "Do you trust me?"
Without hesitation, Elizabeth nodded. After all, besides Shasha, there was no one else she could rely on. If it weren't for him, she would have lost her last remaining family member as well; not to mention he had saved her life.
"Good. Since you trust me, I want you to let your consciousness fall into a brief sleep. I know you can do it!"
With her psychic abilities, Elizabeth could easily close off her consciousness.
Knowing that Shasha wouldn't harm her, Elizabeth closed her eyes. In the next moment, her body suddenly went limp as she fell into a deep sleep.
Seeing this scene unfold, Brian couldn't help but look worried. "Is my sister going to be okay?"
"Don't worry, it's just a brief slumber for my consciousness, no different from regular sleep."
Shasha approached the sleeping Elizabeth slowly, her right hand shimmering with a white glow. The invisible vibrations were gathering, seemingly ready to touch Elizabeth's forehead in the next moment.
At that moment, Elizabeth's eyes suddenly opened, her emerald gaze flickering ominously, and her entire demeanor felt like a completely different person compared to before.
Brian was startled, watching his 'sister' sit up slowly, emitting a voice that was unfamiliar to him. "I didn't expect you to notice. Where did I show a flaw?"
"I was wondering if you had a backup plan," Shasha replied coldly, already recognizing the owner of that voice. "At first, I suspected Brian since he had been captured by you. It would make sense if you tampered with him. But then I dismissed that thought; if it were that simple, it wouldn't be you. So, I turned my suspicion to Elizabeth. It seemed impossible, yet you had the means to make it possible."
Elizabeth chuckled lightly at this. "You are indeed clever. I thought I could deceive you. Can you tell me where I showed a flaw?"
"Your aura, your senses!" Shasha sneered. "You are skilled in schemes but poor at acting. A person's senses cannot be easily altered; you shouldn't have revealed such differences in front of me."
Elizabeth sighed upon hearing this. "I see now; it was my oversight."
It seemed like a failure at first glance, but in reality, it was not so. She smiled sweetly and continued, "However, even so, you can't do anything now, can you? I've infused half of my soul into Elizabeth's body; you can't expel me. If you try to deal with me, it's equivalent to dealing with Elizabeth. In other words, we have become an inseparable duality of souls."
Shasha had anticipated the worst-case scenario long ago, but hearing it confirmed from her lips still made her face turn pale.
Brian had regained his composure after the initial shock and now looked furious. "Get out of my sister's body, you bastard!"
"Brian, how can you say that to your sister? It would hurt her feelings!" Elizabeth feigned sorrow before covering her mouth and giggling mischievously, looking utterly unafraid.
In the next moment, Shasha suddenly placed a hand on Elizabeth's head and unleashed an Illusion that scattered her consciousness and plunged her into sleep.
Seeing this, Brian was alarmed and thought Shasha was about to harm Elizabeth. He rushed towards her but was stopped by Shasha.
"Don't panic, Brian; your sister is fine. I just put that woman into a deep sleep."
Brian carefully observed his sister, relieved to see that she was still breathing. However, this brief moment of ease was quickly overshadowed by endless worries. What about the person inside her? They constantly threatened her life.
“Mr. Samar, what should we do now? She is my only family.”
At just 18 years old, he found himself at a loss after such a sudden upheaval. The only person he could rely on was Shasha.
To be honest, Shasha didn’t know what to do either. It was clear that the Black Queen had left herself a way out and a safeguard; she had preemptively infused half of her soul into Elizabeth’s body to ensure that Shasha would think twice before acting.
Should he feel honored? To be valued so highly by the Black Queen was indeed something to take pride in.
Unfortunately, Shasha was too troubled to appreciate the significance of being regarded so seriously by an opponent. He sat on the sofa with a furrowed brow, contemplating strategies.
Meanwhile, thousands of miles away, the Black Queen suddenly fainted as if struck by a heavy blow. When she slowly regained consciousness, a charming smile appeared on her face. “Now, you have truly stepped into my trap.”
