Until an effective solution came to mind, Elizabeth had to keep her consciousness in a closed state. After all, the dual souls within her made it difficult to maintain a balance of awareness, and no one knew if the Black Queen would seize control of this body.
It was important to note that Elizabeth had already experienced a body swap once; the body she inhabited now was not originally hers.
This past experience was precisely why Brian worried that his sister might repeat the same mistake.
Every time he thought about how he had dragged his sister down because of himself, Brian despised his own helplessness. For the first time, he longed to possess the strength to protect those around him.
Unaware of Brian's inner turmoil, Shasha instructed him not to move around carelessly before leaving. She needed to consult a master in the realm of the mind about this issue, and Charles was a renowned expert in that field.
After a night of rest, Shasha drove to the academy early the next morning.
At that moment, the academy was facing significant challenges. The calls in Congress for legislation against mutants were growing louder, and there were even some government special task forces and strike teams secretly hunting mutants. To make matters worse, a mysterious mutant assassin had emerged, striking high-ranking officials with impunity, even daring to attempt an assassination on the president.
Because of this, the situation for mutants was dire. Even Magneto's return, which had drawn much of the fire away from them, could not improve their circumstances.
When Shasha found Charles, he was listening to Jean report on the recent situation regarding the Warriors.
"We've recruited quite a few new students recently, most of whom are locals. They have mentioned some covert actions by the government. I’ve screened all of them and found no spies from their side."
Hearing this, Charles's face showed deep concern. "The situation for mutants is becoming increasingly difficult. The conflict between humans and mutants has become more pronounced; we must do something."
"What can we do? A mutant assassin has suddenly appeared, bold enough to attempt an assassination on the president." At this point, Jean couldn't help but smile wryly. "The president was already wavering on the issue of legislation, but after this incident, he probably feels even more hostile towards mutants."
Upon hearing Jean mention this matter, Charles also smiled bitterly. "Yes, this undoubtedly accelerates Congress's legislative process."
"I wouldn't believe it if this had nothing to do with Magneto!" Jean's tone turned cold as she voiced her suspicions.
However, Charles had a different perspective on Jean's doubts. "This matter should not be Max's doing. Even though we were once enemies, he now stands with us in the same camp. Such self-destructive actions are not something he would undertake with his intelligence. In my view, someone is manipulating the mutant assassin from behind the scenes to incite war between both sides."
Jean scoffed at his words; she still held onto her belief that inciting war was indeed correct. Magneto also had reasons to provoke conflict; he likely welcomed a war between both factions.
The disagreement between them led to a heavy silence in the atmosphere.
At that moment, Shasha's car happened to stop downstairs. His gaze fell upon Aurora, who was playing on the grass with a group of children. As the Black Pearl occasionally demonstrated her abilities, her effortless Wind Manipulation left the children in awe.
Shasha observed for a while, feeling compelled to admire Aurora's exceptional talent with wind and its extensions. Although she was still only at level three, he believed that with her gifts, she would undoubtedly advance to level four in the future.
After all, she was much stronger than Big Shot, that Sunglasses Man. Although the latter possessed immense power, it was unfortunate that his ability couldn't be turned off.
This was also why Shasha refrained from exchanging for Big Shot's abilities at the Villain Reputation Store. He didn't want to show up at Dawntide wearing sunglasses; that wouldn't be showing off—it would be foolish.
As the ability demonstration class ended, the children rushed into the teaching building, each using their peculiar abilities as they brushed past Shasha. While they were curious about his identity, most of those who came here were extraordinary in their own right.
"A month without seeing you—are you here looking for Mr. Charles?" Aurora greeted Shasha with a half-smile, her tone laced with teasing.
He felt a bit embarrassed, realizing he might seem like he had nothing better to do. "I hope the professor isn't out; I really need to talk to him about something important."
Aurora raised an eyebrow as if she expected this response. "I would love to tell you that the professor is out, but I guess your sensory abilities would see through that."
"If your professor is out, I would choose to believe you," Shasha shrugged.
Aurora paused for a moment before asking with amusement, "Why choose to believe me?"
"At least you've never lied to me, have you?" Shasha smiled. He had quite a fondness for this Black Pearl, especially compared to Jean Grey, who often looked down on him.
Aurora's face turned slightly red at Shasha's words; fortunately, her dark skin concealed it well.
Leading Shasha upstairs, they entered after Charles invited them in. Upon entering, they found Charles and Jean sitting across from each other in silence, the atmosphere seemingly tense.
Seeing Shasha arrive, Charles set aside his complex emotions and smiled warmly. "Looks like you've run into trouble again."
Just as Shasha was about to speak, Jean quietly remarked, "You haven't even resolved your own troubles yet you're off helping others with theirs."
Shasha caught her words as he passed by and furrowed his brow in confusion as he looked at her.
"Qin, I think you still have some unresolved matters, don't you?" Charles rubbed his temples, looking quite helpless.
Qin rolled her eyes and walked away, prompting Aurora to follow suit.
"Professor, it seems I came at a bad time," Shasha said apologetically. Although he didn't like Qin's tone, he still felt it necessary to show respect to Charles.
"There's no need for such formalities between us; after all, we are allies. I should apologize on behalf of Qin. She's been under a lot of pressure lately, so if she has offended you in any way, please forgive her."
Shasha waved his hand dismissively. "I didn't take it to heart at all."
Charles smiled with relief and then asked, "Now, let's get to the main issue. It seems you've encountered quite a bit of trouble."
Shasha nodded and began to explain his purpose for coming.
