Tessa carried the three who had fainted away; she was a clever person and knew exactly what to do.
After returning, Shasha instructed Felicia to wait for news while watching Card King, who was still swaying in front of him, secretly sneering.
The next day, intelligence agents unexpectedly intercepted a recording of Tessa and the others' conversation, which repeatedly mentioned matters concerning Egypt.
Upon receiving the news, Card King was overjoyed and rushed to report this good news to White Queen. When White Queen heard the news, she could hardly contain her excitement. Who wouldn't want immortality or to wield power?
The statue was undoubtedly an opportunity. She didn't believe that Shasha was the only one who could use it. She had privately researched and found that the so-called Evil God could accept offerings and rituals from anyone. It didn't care who offered it; it only cared about the sacrifices. Thus, White Queen's first thought was to seize that statue.
"Limi, go inform Warren. The three of us are going to Egypt!"
Card King was taken aback by her words and asked in surprise, "Aren't we bringing that guy along?"
That "guy" he referred to was naturally Shasha, which White Queen was also aware of. However, a cold glint appeared on her face as she replied, "No, this matter is known only to the four of us. Do you understand?"
In her mind, Shasha was unaware of this situation. Perhaps he had killed Asazuo because his friend was injured, but suspicion was ultimately just suspicion; if one doubted someone, there was no need to involve them.
Card King understood immediately and did not press further. He never particularly liked Shasha; if it weren't for Anna being by Shasha's side, he would have felt uncomfortable even being in the same place as him. So this arrangement suited him perfectly.
With this thought in mind, he went down to inform Warren, the backup that White Queen had set up.
When Card King temporarily canceled his actions and gave the reason for Warren to remain on standby, Shasha knew that Tessa had succeeded.
On the surface, he wore a rather unpleasant expression. It wasn't until Card King left that he called over Felicia and Anna.
"They've left for Egypt; now it's our turn to move."
Before leaving, it was essential to shake off the surveillance set by the White Queen. Given her cautious nature, she would never allow him to remain here without keeping a close eye on him; she would surely notify her at the first sign of trouble.
On the third day after the White Queen's group departed from America, Felicia eliminated the surveillance.
Shasha knew that the vague information obtained by the White Queen wouldn't lead her to the statue and the Black Queen so quickly, so he took some time to regroup before setting out on the fourth day.
Meanwhile, Tessa reported the intelligence to Nick Fury, who promptly dispatched Rogers, Peter Parker—who had no current missions—and Tony, who had recently joined S.H.I.E.L.D., to Egypt.
In an instant, Egypt became a focal point of activity, with tensions rising and a storm brewing.
Egypt, Cairo.
Shasha arrived here with Felicia and Anna. The Sphinx was located just a few miles west of Cairo, on the eastern side of Giza Village, making it a short walk of less than an hour.
However, arriving there first was not a wise move; those who entered first often became targets.
He needed a frontliner, and until that person arrived, he wasn't in a hurry.
Just as Shasha checked into a local hotel in Cairo, Rogers arrived in Egypt with Peter and Tony.
Regarding their mission, Nick Fury was vague, merely instructing them to wait for someone to contact them.
It was Tony's first visit to Egypt. For someone like him, who had spent years enjoying life, Cairo—though not impoverished—was far less glamorous compared to bustling New York.
"Hey, Steve, don't you know what this mission is about? I really don't want to be stuck here for too long."
Hearing Tony's complaints in his ear, Rogers frowned. "You can imagine how troublesome it is for Nick to send the three of us on this mission."
Tony remained noncommittal, while Peter was indifferent; his obedience was commendable, and he never cared about other factors.
The three of them made their way from the airport to the hotel, where Rogers handled the check-in process.
Ding.
The elevator doors opened, and not many people paid attention here, as there were plenty of others waiting to go upstairs.
As they squeezed through the crowd, Shasha was just about to step out to buy something when his gaze swept over the front desk and suddenly froze. He quickly sidestepped, positioning himself behind someone entering the hotel to avoid being recognized by anyone familiar.
However, nothing is foolproof. The bored Tony casually scanned the crowd, hoping to spot a pretty face, and ended up catching sight of a familiar figure.
He opened his mouth, ready to call out that name, but suddenly realized there were two other people beside him. He promptly shut his mouth.
As Rogers and Peter stepped into the elevator, Tony kept a watchful eye.
Unaware that he had been spotted, Shasha breathed a sigh of relief as he exited the hotel. If he knew that Tony had noticed him because he was looking for beautiful women, he would probably be at a loss for words; that habit of Tony's was indeed troublesome.
America, Samar Industrial.
Wanda Maximoff finished her tasks and finally reached the end of her workday. Just as she was packing up her things to head home, a text message chimed on her phone.
She casually picked it up to read and instantly paled. Hurriedly, she dialed Pietro's number. When it connected, neither sibling spoke for a moment until Wanda finally broke the silence. "Did you receive it?"
“Hmm,” Pietro replied softly, but it was hard to discern his current mood.
“What do you think?” Wanda Maximoff asked again.
“I want to know!” Pietro said firmly.
Wanda Maximoff found herself in a dilemma for a moment, but ultimately chose to compromise on family over career and even love.
“Alright, we’ll leave New York tomorrow.”
The next day, after quietly submitting her resignation, Wanda Maximoff left New York. With that, only Susan remained among the three main assistants of Samar Industrial, and fortunately, the operational framework within the industry was still relatively intact. Otherwise, without leadership, Samar Industrial would ultimately fall apart.
With guilt weighing on them, the Maximoff siblings embarked on a new path.
